chapter 1

deerkit ran out of the nursery, his thick fur sticking out as always. "i'm finally becoming an apprentice today!" he bounced around. mirror came out running too, "we are finally becoming an apprentice." she correct him and giggled. deerkit pawed at mirrorkit, "or that." deerkit's mother, silverlake came rushing over to him. silver lake started grooming him, "for your apprentice ceremony you have to be clean!" deerkit moaned loudly, "mom..." mirrorkit giggled even more. as his mom stopped grooming him deerkit ran off, "come on mirrorkit!" mirrorkit chased after him.

dogpaw and tinypaw stopped them in their tracks. "why hello mother's tom.." tinypaw giggled at deerkit. dogpaw yowled, "mom!" he ran around bumping into mirrorkit many of times. deerkit yowled, "stop dogpaw!" dogpaw laughed even harder, "oh come on kit, i will always be older and better than a runt!" mirrorkit shrunk and stepped back. deerkit hissed loudly, his fur rising up. tinypaw giggled and pushed mirrorkit into the mud. dogpaw mewed, "good idea... mom won't love him that much anymore." dogpaw pushed deerkit in the mud.

flightstar was already on the high-rock, no one had barely noticed. "clan meeting! clan meeting!" deerkit and mirrorkit started slowly walking up. flightstar continued, "two apprentices, mirrorkit and deerkit are at the age to become apprentices." she nodded while looking at them a bit confused. "deerkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. from this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as deerpaw. Your mentor will be treeleap..." treeleap smiled in pride, and walked up the rock. "I hope treeleap will pass down all he knows on to you." flighstar continued on, "treeleap, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from copperstone, and you have shown yourself to be curious and brave. You will be the mentor of deerpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to deerpaw.." treeleap walked up to deerpaw, he touched noses with the apprentice. "hello deerpaw."

she smiled at mirrorkit, "mirrorkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as mirrorpaw. Your mentor will be loudspark. I hope loudspark will pass down all he knows on to you." loudspark walked up the high-rock and smiled at mirrorpaw. "loudspark, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from bravestrike, and you have shown yourself to be patient and clever. You will be the mentor of mirrorpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to mirrorpaw." loudstrike then walked up to mirrorpaw and touched noses with his new apprentice. "hello mirrorpaw."

everyone started cheering their names, "mirrorpaw! deerpaw!" they repeated over and over, then it started to softly go down. silverlake ran up to deerpaw, "my little kit is an apprentice!" she paused and looked at his fur, "the one time i tell you keep your fur clean." she shaked her head. then she smiled at him, "i still just can't believe it." deerpaw laughed, "i bet i will be a warrior in a second!" silverlake looked at him for a while. silverlake then smiled, "don't grow up too fast deerpaw.."
