Levos pale blue eyes watched Aria as she spoke, he took once glance to Faelyn who was looking down at her scarred and callused hands avoiding his eyes before he returned this look to Aria. Levos chuckled slightly as Aria referred the broken warrior as the spitfire and he must admit for himself that it was a truly good fitting name for the reckless she-elf that had quarreled and annoyed him that day. He could sense that the sun was getting ready to set and sitting a few metres above the trees in the west.

Sighing deeply as Aria finished her report he smiled and nodded his head to Aria, in thanks to giving a report on Elwen Luna. He looked once more to Faelyn who was avoiding his eye contact before speaking once again; "Your friend and fellow elf has...inconveniently or conveniently departed today and shall not return." he stated with a hint of venom in his voice. He didn't mean to have the harshness sneak into his voice but he truly despised the she-elf for being so disrespectful and self-centered in the affair of wanting to release herself of her duties.

Levos looked away from the pair and closed his eyes before returning his gaze to his Queen and giving her a sad and distorted look of worry. The kingdom needed the warriors, they needed the numbers to protect the young and old from the horrible conflict of the war. He didn't want this war, no, he never wanted this war but after the brutal attack on his people that started it, he couldn't let it slide. If he did, more death would of came to the kingdom as the savage Verbroné raided their small farm towns located near the edge of the Cymbiir forest killing many.

Levos took a shaky inhale before looking to Faelyn and Aria once more, the two friends sat next to each other in the comfort and concern of each other's well-fare. "Faelyn I would like to give me your report," he said finally knowing it would hurt the she-elf but he needed to know about Elwen and what he was up against.

ELWEN LUNA
elven warrior - 50+ - Nature magic
forest - with Raoden

The she- elf's confused look spread across her face as he spoke about his smile. As he spoke of Drago, her
eyes rounded and showed the reappearing hate, her chin rose as she looked at him. He was so much taller
than her, yet, he didn't intimidate her one bit. Adjusting her footing, she put one leg back before she did
speak at all, starting to back away from him "He had no family, they were killed by humans." Elwen spat
the words in a hiss to the captain "And he wanted revenge for his brutally murdered mate and newborn
pups. Blind by regret and spite... Yet, he still had his strength when he was saddened and injured." The
she elf now glared at him, stepping back a few paces from him. "Haven't you ever wanted to spin out from
grief, pain or sorrow?" Now she stepped forward again, shaking her head gently, her hair bouncing gently.

"See, I understand the ways of the elves... After all, you stole the lives of many... The thing you both have
in common, is your stupidity." Elwen was being straight out, being sure not to name Cymbiir as her own
kingdom, it wasn't, not anymore. "Levos wants to get you all back, no peaceful negotiations there. Your
kingdom, as you call it, despises all traces of my race... Attacking out of cold blood." With a confused
expression, she explained in a annoyed tone. "Honestly, no matter how fair the Cymbiir kingdom think they
are, with all their wise talk and perfection in community... They still have flaws." Snapping her words out,
it felt good to be straight out with someone. Her head shook again as she looked down with her eyes closed,
and she still looked very fair. "Why am I even speaking to you?" Elwen growled as she looked behind her at
her horse. But Ballad refused to move from his spot, snorting and kicking up dirt.

(Sorry for being so inactive!)
Queen Lauriel

The Queen nodded slowly at the healer's words. "Even if they do not see us as weak now, especially with this recent attack on their main village, we must be ready for retaliation, and we may even be able to stop them in their tracks if we attack that small village soon enough. It might weaken them enough to stop another attack," Suddenly, the door opened and in came her husband, King Levos. She smiled softly in acknowledgement when he came in, and realized that they had been talking slightly loudly earlier when he suggested speaking more quietly. She listioned quietly to Aria as she recounted the affair with Elwen Luna, and she closed her eyes for a split second. They needed all of their warriors, especially now, and Elwen had been a valuable asset. But she also knew that there could be no traitors among the soldiers, it would only weaken the forces, and that it was the right and wise thing to do. She returned Levos' worried glance, letting him know by the glance that she shared his worries. Glancing to Failyn, she awaited her report.

Should she respond? Elyana rarely announced her affection for her husband in similar words, instead preferring to show it by working hard for their kingdom, or sending someone out to buy a book or three for him, when she was feeling in a particularly giving mood. She used to be able to say the words; she'd said them to her father the day he had mounted his great chestnut steed to lead a small group of soldiers against rogue elves attacking one of the nearby villages. "I love you, father," she had said, smiling up at the man, the great lord, "be careful. You know what My Lady Mother is like." Her mother had always fretted about Theodore Folwyn when he went into battle, for they had no sons, only the one daughter, and thus no one to inherit the Folwyn estate: at that point Elyana had just been married to Henri, and should her father die the lands would pass straight to the crown. It was the price the family paid for marrying their daughter into the royal family. And later, when they'd been out on a hunt and they had been attacked..... Petyr, sweet little Petyr, so eager to get his own falcon, so eager to attempt to shoot an arrow at a rabbit. The poor boy had been cut down in front of her eyes, a savage death for one who had not deserved it. She had been unable to save him, the last thing she had told him as he died with his head cradled on her lap was "I love you, Petyr, your Lady Mother loves you, Henri loves you....." In the end the Queen - then a princess - had had to be dragged away with the child's blood drying on her hands, long after he had passed. For weeks she had been unable to visit his grave, her heart too shredded in her chest by her failure.

Instead of offering a reply (saying those three words seemed to bring doom crashing around her) Elyana instead smiled, as warm as she could, trying to soak up the sun, trying to forget everything but this. It did not work, and soon her smile faded. "It does not matter if you say it or not," the woman said finally, her voice suddenly carrying a harsh note, so harsh it made her cringe internally and she forced it to soften, "I know." She turned her head away, biting down on her bottom lip hard enough that the taste of iron coated her tongue. She couldn't curse this relationship, she couldn't bring death and destruction to them. That was what she was going to give to the elves; she'd smash them with a hammer so hard that if any survived at all they would remember her for centuries to come. She'd stand on them like the tiny pesky ants they were. Loving her husband might stand in the way of that, she might become distracted; especially as some of the court were muttering, now. After fourteen years of marriage, still no heir had been born. She might be a Queen of Stone, but if she did not produce a baby soon, all would call her barren. There was nothing worse than a barren queen. Any other man might have been able to rid himself of his wife without anyone batting an eyelid, but she was the Queen and their kingdom needed an heir, no matter what. Swallowing thickly, Elyana turned back to Henri, refusing to look at the floor. "I am sorry," she whispered, looking into his face, though she wasn't totally sure if the words rang true, "I am under great pressure."

King of Vebrone

As Elyana's smile faded, Henri cursed himself for his thoughtlessness. Had it really been so long since they had been together? How could he had forgotten? Her harshness made him flinch, but only because it reminded him of his own failure. This wasn't one of his books, where everything worked out perfectly once the prince and princess were married. They still had ghosts, and problems that followed them everywhere. He had to remember that, as much as he hated to. His eyes betrayed his regret as he looked down at his wife. It seemed as though a cold wind had suddenly spoiled the atmosphere of the sunlit garden. As she apologized, he shook his hand, his eyes gentle. "No, I am sorry. It was thoughtless of me." He sighed softly, running a hand through his short hair, then smiled slightly, "Let us forget all this. We shouldn't waste our little time together apologizing." He hoped perhaps they could recapture the moment he had spoiled. He wanted to help Elyana escape her duties for a while, not get caught in the painful past. Her pain was the only thing that every once and a while stirred up in him a deep hatred for the elves. Usually, he was more peaceful and considerate, but some days, he felt that if an elf showed up in his room, he would probably kill them. This was turning into one of those days, but he kept his anger locked away. Later he would take one of his rare trips into the country. He needed to keep his battle magic sharp, just in case.

"You do not understand," Elyana responded, her fingers curling inwards as her hands clenched into fists at her sides, "fourteen years Henri, fourteen years. And we still have no child, we still have nothing to prove that I am not barren." Her voice was not harsh this time, but desperate. She was desperate for her husband to understand the pressure she was under, and not only from being a woman leading a war against an age-old foe. If no heir made an appearance, no matter if it was a boy or a girl, then there would be no one to inherit the land, their kingdom. They needed an heir, like every single King and Queen before them. At this point, Elyana would not care for the sex of any children she might birth. A boy would be best, a boy would be ideal, she could mould a boy into the perfect leader. A girl would end up marrying into some other kingdom, most likely, she could not have a daughter, if she ever became pregnant. But a girl she could attempt to teach, just in case. Who knew if there were more elf kingdoms out there that would need destroying? A daughter who became queen of another kingdom would secure that kingdom, too. The race of men would rule all. Her legacy would continue down the line and the elves would never have a chance. But a son or a daughter could do that. Better a son and a daughter, to make sure. And more children after that, as insurance policies. Elyana just had to get pregnant, she had to. She needed a small army of children, so that their kingdom could continue to thrive, especially if she died during this war. After all, who knew how long it would go on for? A child, a son that could take the throne would mean that the war could continue and her people could get their vengeance.

The queen turned away, running her tongue over her lower lip to wipe away the blood before it welled up too much. Quite suddenly there were tears in her eyes at the thought of being unable to produce an heir. Children brought out yet another side of her, having a child would be.... Elyana couldn't even begin to explain it. She knew she had many layers to her, and sometimes it confused even her. Most of the time she hated to be viewed as a broodmare for the next generation of princes and princesses, because she should not have ever been reduced to only her fertility, or lack thereof. The woman's stomach flipped at the thought of having a child of her own, instead of looking upon the children of the court. Unclenching her hands, Elyana took a deep breath, as deep as she could with her corseted dress restricting her breathing, and closed her eyes. "The court are talking. They're talking about this war," she was doing well, she knew, and they all knew it too, "but they are also talking about our distinct lack of an heir. If this carries on even longer, the people will become restless, and slaughtering elves will not stop their bloodlust. They will turn upon us and place someone else in my place, or in both our places. Our last moments will be upon the scaffold." Elyana was not scared of much, but the thought of dying like that filled her with a fear so powerful she felt she might be sick. Even dying in childbirth, or of childbed fever was preferable, because at least then she would have proved that she was still fertile.

He watched and he listened as Faelyn spoke, he admired and cursed in his head at the stupidity of the skirmish and the actions of the she-elf he had sought to kill. He didn't know whether to search for her and kill her straight away but he knew that he wanted more details from Faelyn. He moved from his Queen's side and towards Aria, he nodded his head before walking over to Faelyn and staring at her with his pale blue eyes. "Come with me, you shall be staying in the quarters in the castle tonight. I do not care of your wounds I want you in the castle, we have business to attend." and that was all he said before walking out on them in a calm fury.

Faelyn shivered sitting on the cot, she wasn't cold but the glare of the King was cold and poisonous. He was wanting a confirmation of what Aria had said and what else had happened. The she-elf sighed and ran her hand through her fiery red hair before speaking. "It was a simple resuce mission. We got word from one of the nature elves that their birds had seen Elwen running herself with the dire wolf towards Verbroné, I knew it they got her, they would get out every secret of hers and the secrets of our kingdom so I gather a few men...well more than a few because I thought we should make some damage whilst rescuing her..." Faelyn's voice drifted a little and she shifted uncomfortably as the king's stare intensified.

"...We got to the advantage point, I burnt down this forest they had created with magic and then we charged. It was a regular skirmish until the fact that all of a sudden after a few hours of fighting the dire wolf saw myself and their captain as its prey. Elwen..." she stopped again, standing up and looking at the king directly before pacing slowly around the room, "Elwen didn't even try stop the wolf as it tore me to shreds, thanks to the Captain of the Verbroné guard, he stopped the wolf in its tracks. And then soon we had Elwen and then we are back here." she left out the minor details and was standing near the exit of the hut looking down at her shoes before looking to the king, then Aria and then the Queen, her gaze was harsh, cold like steel.

"And that is what happened." she already knew that the king had gotten ridden of Elwen, either killing her or just letting her go on some death note warning. Faelyn rolled her shoulders feeling a little uncomfortable before seeing the King still staring at her with slight annoyance and pity.
