It was hard to believe, but Anden still dreamed- mostly of his past, further than the moon. It was so different from what was real now, that it belonged only in his dreams. His mind was a torment of its own, reminding him of all he had lost. But now it was different. All was silent darkness, where he could be alone. No pain, no fear, no false promises of hope, no long-lost joy to be ripped away when he woke, simply a sanctuary for his thoughts. That Lieutenant, he thought. Something about him. He felt like something was going to happen. That look of awe that had overridden the contempt when he had looked at Anden- if only for a moment- made him think that. And, of course, they had been taken from their cells, each one of them. He had put up a fight, the first time in a long time he had done so, although it was a weak one. He didn't know what, exactly, was going to happen, he just knew that something would. He didn't feel hopeful, or anything, really- more than likely it was some new form of torment. Or maybe... a test. Then his thoughts were reabsorbed by the darkness, and he had a dreamless sleep, forgetting all he had thought about in that dark, quiet little niche in his head, a small paradise to the silent, pain-wracked shell of a boy.

Anden- or Chameleon, as he had been degraded to in the waking world- slowly woke, trying to hold onto sleep, unwilling to wake to the horror of his own everyday life. But sleep slipped away from him, as many things did these days, so he reluctantly blinked open his eyes. The many wounds streched across his bruised, shedding skin woke, too, and pain attacked him from all sides, as usual. He stifled a yelp as he sat up, taking in the cell around him. It was... different. A path of sorts streched off in one direction. More testing? But they had never taken him out of the other cell before. Maybe they were trying to catch him off guard... Well, nothing to do but follow the path. So the colorful creature did, walking slowly, savoring the experience, for he had not gotten much of a chance to truly walk in his cell. He arrived at a glass door at the end, which lifted after a minute or so. To his great surprise, the other seven... creatures... which had undergone similar experiments stood in similar tubes, in a large arena-like area, with the scientists watching- of course- far above. What was he expecting, release?

He wondered about the others as he slowly took in the scene, about their pasts, their names, how they had gotten caught. Maybe he would soon find out. The point of this little experiment, Chameleon couldn't say, but he guessed it had to do with figuring out how they would interact with each other. Perhaps later they would be used as weapons, together? Everyone sized up everyone else, with all of them dismissing him as weak, no doubt. That was probably for the better. If it came to a fight between all of them, they wouldn't bother to attack him first, which was good, because at his last check, his mutations didn't give him much of an upper hand in a fight. A few of them spoke up, and a few more had aggressive postures. Of those who spoke, the bat-like one seemed least aggressive, even friendly. Chameleon decided not to speak up yet. He certainly had never been very social, even before... the incident. He nodded slightly to the others in shy, slightly fearful acknowledgement, with a non-aggressive, slightly submissive pose. Oh, he hoped they could work together, for they had one common enemy, and maybe they could fight back together against it. Of course, Chameleon held little hop for this, but a little hope was much better- and more dangerous- than none. It only was ever in vain, after all, but he couldn't shake the minuscule feeling of hope, which annoyed him. He glanced up at the scientists with this thought, then quickly looked back down again. He didn't want to look at them any longer than necessary.

August floated silently in thought about back before all of this happened. He now despised his old self he now had power, there was nothing to fear. He now has a difficult time feeling pain, no matter how many times the Scientists did Experiments that are suppose to hurt he would almost never feel the pain. As he was deep in thought he heard something the Familiar sound of the water being drained from his tank, as the water went down the drain bits of Fish guts where caught in the drain and a few bones scattered around. He soon found himself asleep in the new water from who nos where.

He soon awoke to a new area where he has never been. There was a hall with a bright light at the end he wanted to go but... What if it was a trap what if it was more Experiments. He thought to himself he then remembered he was stronger now there was no need to show weakness he thought. So he walked something new other then swimming and sitting he thought something new. He was Curious he had to find out what was at the end of the hall.

He ran, ran as fast as his legs could go as he ran he stumbled but recovered quickly and continued to run. August soon came upon a big open space as he rushed in he halted as his feet touched the gravel he could feel the little sharp rocks stick up into his feet. But soon he looked up to see the Lieutenant and the Scientist looking down on them from a safe little room. It made him mad being looked down upon he never liked it but now that he has power he doesn't have to anymore. He then looked away he knew they where there to observe. But observe what exactly, he then noticed all the others... The other Expirements. He could tell some where ready to fight and others weren't Augus-No! Gator he was ready to fight ready to defend himself no matter what.

As he watched the others carefully he heard someone say hello he wanted to answer back but he didn't want to risk being a target right away. As he stood and watched he knew some of the others from when the Scientist talked about them he then seen Virus one of the more dangerous ones. He wanted to avoid him as much as he could. If possible he then decided instead of going out for a straight attack and risking himself he would just watch them and see what happens from there.

Head held high. Teeth bared. Eyes a crystal gaze. Yup, I'm ready. Adeline sauntered in, her slim, stretchable frame holding the simple black clothing they had given each and every one of the subjects. Each cell had metallic doors in the back that appeared flush with the walls; they all parted, letting the subjects out into the arena.
The black shirt and fitted pants hung slightly off of her figure as she stepped into the arena, hips swaying, chocolate hair hiding her soft features. Her golden eyes pierced through the forest of brown that hung in front of them. She stopped walking, standing still, spine stick straight; her peach-colored lips parted to let a slim, forked tongue slip past, tasting the salty, humid air. Someone was nearby.
She stepped around the tree-filled forest and maneuvered her way around the branches, bending back to avoid being hit or scratched. Her tan skin delicately spotted with green patches of scales blended in with the mix of browns and greens and golds that painted the forest.

Pain. Always, pain. Even when he was young, the simple need to live brought pain as a consequence. To live, something else had to pay the price. However, ever since he was taken, the pain had increased in intensity by leaps and bounds, and it didn't only bring pain, but something-no, someone else. At first, Glenn did not know how to react, feeling instincts not his own, and he fought. But in the fight, he knew he was already lost. His clawed hands and fur only marked the places the beast had already taken. And it was taking more. He didn't know how to deal with it, sometimes quietly sitting down, sometimes rushing at something, hoping to crash it out of him.

But how did you fight yourself without tearing yourself apart?

He still hadn't found the answer. If the fighting helped anything though, they both learned of each other. They were different in many, many ways, with many instincts that wouldn't be needed on earth, but if anything, they were both resourceful, both utterly without moral values, and most importantly, they both had that need to survive. Yes. To live, everyone had to pay a price. And for his life, no price was too high. They had joined hands, Glenn offering his cooperation, the foreign thing offering knowledge on how to use it's smarts. Others fought their monster, but Glenn knew this was the better way to go. If they were stuck together, they had might as well work together. As such, they become one. Whilst thinking this, the beast scurried in him, responding to the heavy footsteps they both heard were coming. Something was happening. However, he soothed it, and they both calmed. Better not to get themselves tired in a ceaseless struggle. Turning and smiling at the frightened scientist, Glenn held out a hand, only to grasp a taser. He had expected that, but his face showed hurt, and as his body lost control of itself, before his eyes rolled in their sockets, he saw a hint of guilt. Yes. In time...

Hard. The floor was hard. Glenn was used to that, but what he wasn't used to, was that it wasn't anywhere he had been before. Transferred? Looking around and confirming that no one was watching, Glenn allowed himself that brief moment to let his frustration take hold. Spinning, he plunged his fist into the wall, letting out some of his annoyance, which leaked out in the blood that trailed down his fist quietly. He had been working on his scientist for a while now... He could only hope that guy would get transferred as well, this looked like a new enclosure, and if so he would be here a while. The walls and floor only smelled newly of him, so no other creature had been in here before.

His hand stinging slightly, Glenn wiped the blood on his shirt, before going down the corridor. Might as well find out about this place. It opened, an empty dome, with a glass top which scientists looked down upon. A test. But there was nothing here! Suddenly, Glenn realised there were more holes like the one he came out of. He heard others rousing. Ah. So it was to be a battle royale. Feeling a surge of frustration at how there was nothing to use, he scrambled back into his holes, going all the way back to where he woke up. Quickly digging his claws into the ground, Glenn managed to grind the floor into powder. He would never be able to do enough damage to break the walls, no, but his claws centered his force into a point, and working his claws, lifted and rubbed the powder into his skin. It turned his skin and dark brown fur more the shade of cement, like the place. This wasn't much, but this way he wouldn't stand out as much.

As everyone emerged, Glenn first paused, not coming out first or second, but came out as the same as the bulk of the other creatures. And yikes. Looking at them, he needn't have worried. All the other seven stood out starkly among the concrete walls, and Glenn narrowed his eyes quietly, before he made his stance into one of neutral caution. Some of them started talking, but Glenn watched them all, taking stock of everyone and wondering who he had to look out for as his eyes shifted quietly from side to side warily.

Christopher - Virus - had simply grinned, cocking his head to the side, acknowledging the other's responses; so many hello's, even though their tongues were numb with lack of use, a sense of deadness, a gnawing ache, tinted in their voices. I was odd to speak, for him; he was trapped in a box, trapped and lost in his own mind, in the conscience of the dominating Virus. He was a plague, a disease to the world, but he was also a cure; Virus had whispered little promises into his head, leaking his thoughts with savage visions, he was a cure for the world, to get rid of humanity. Wipe the population completely, be the anarchy and disobedience of society, revenge and fear, the beginning of a new nightmare. Hello, Virus would whisper, the two syllables forced through his teeth, rolling off his spiteful tongue, emanating from an abyss that had swallowed his soul.
Christopher had raised his fists to his chest, swinging out a couple of punches; it was a natural instinct which had stained his muscle memory, something he would do to manipulate an opponent in the ring.
Christopher had spat into the ground, to the side of his left foot, as a black substance weaved itself into the cracks of the ground; he could feel it, the Virus, eating the little bacteria which was etched in between each dust particle. It was on odd feeling. Any part of him, and cell, was a disease, and it took over another organism; his DNA, his blood, his sweat, his flesh, would engulf another being. Whatever he touched was infected, and it would always die. A cold, dark, sullen death, where you could feel ever molecule of your figure being destroy by the Virus, and it wouldn't stop until the light in your eyes faded, until everything dissolved and melted away.

A voice crackled through speakers in the roof; a screech, as a button in the microphone was tapped several times - trembling hands, Christopher thought - and the scientist had leaned in to the microphone, a loud burst breaking the air in the dome. "Hello.... Again, subjects. This is a..." A gulp, as it was obvious Darabek had sent a glance at the lieutenant's way, "Social experiment. Survival of the fittest, you could say. That is all. Those who do not engage, well, you know what will happen." A small chuckle had seeped through the speakers, another gulp, and Darabek had added, "That is all."
His voice continued to leak, as if he had accidentally left the microphone one, "The winner... will be the most prized specimen, of course, and we'll be experimenting more with whichever one it is."

Silence, and all eyes were eagerly peering down at the eight creatures - once young teenagers, probably disregarded and misunderstood by society, and this weakness was used on them to lure them into the science labs, and now they were these monsters unheard of - and eyes would flare, burning into each other like hot coals. Burning flesh, not stopping until every nightmare smoked away, and crumbled in their palms as ash. No, this wasn't to fight a nightmare. This was, in the eyes of Virus, the only way to continue the nightmare; and he was the shadowy silhouette staring into the eyes of the fearful, the monster living in the consciences of others, the demon of dreams.

Virus had cracked his knuckles, a cruel smile carved in its face, a murky substance drooling over his lower lip, and he had took a step back; let someone else attack first. Give them a chance, he had chuckled with glee, a mental laughter bouncing off the walls of his mind, as he had gazed towards his left and right, his eyes barely hovering over each subject. A simple attitude towards his opponents: meh. Virus was a plague, and it would spread.

Alyssa - Bat's strange power quickly adjusted to the new "signals", each one slightly different from the others. An emotion of confidence and hostility surged through her mind, along with other muddled emotions and thoughts. So there still were those who wanted to live. The conflicting voices within each creature's mind held no evil. Perhaps the will to survive, the instinct to kill, the desire to rip flesh, the bitterness and hatred toward everything, but none of the complicated cruelty and disgusting emotions within the humans'. As they lost their humanity, was their evil melting away as well?

"Alyssa" and "Bat" were one, unlike the other mingled thoughts she could hear. Perhaps it was a side effect of having so many thoughts always in her mind, but she could no longer distinguish between the two minds. Perhaps, the two minds had merged along with the DNA in the earlier stages. Perhaps, Bat had a weak sentient mind, and only the instinct was transferred with the data.

There was no time to think of such matters. Bat forcefully cleared her mind of the others' emotions and thoughts when a scientist spoke. Waves of disgust rolled through her as she blocked the minds of the humans. Instinctively, her hands rolled into tight fists. She knew they were there, but viewing them like a show? Was this entertaining? She wanted to scream in rage. "What more do you want of us? Bring us out here just to watch and force us kill each other? You're the monsters!" Several deeps breaths were required to keep her from pouring her emotions out. Calm was regained.

The scientist's last words rang in the otherwise silent dome. It was followed by an eerie laugh, echoing and resonating in her ears. Bat wasn't scared. She was exhilarated - nothing, even death, would faze her. A grin spread across her face, partly in response to the laughter. It was a grin of confidence, excitement, fear, doubt, containing all the mixed emotions of those around her. The red blindfold was removed delicately with her claws, fluttering pitifully to the ground. Her stance was as relaxed as before as she blocked the flurry of emotions. Now, she eagerly waited for the bizarre events about to happen to unfurl. But if one thing was certain, it was that she would not go down without a fight. Let them see my wings. Let them hear my thoughts for once!

The slender girl peered around at the surrounding beings, observing each one for a moment and quickly moving onto the next one. Her neck jerked up as the speaker noisds startled her, and she listened. The word 'monsters' tempted her to glance around at her fellow participants; a young girl with porcelain skin and a piece pf fabric tied over her eyes, a young male with scales skin and spines along his back, a young woman with a mouthful of canines... Monster was the simply perfect word to describe every single one of them.
Snake had almost thought that this part of her life was an improvement; although she had such great achievements and goals reached in her past, and a wonderful future ahead of her, she finally has the guts to do the things she wants. She doesn't know if it's the snake DNA or the sheer concept of the event that shifted her personality so drastically, but why find out, instead of just enjoy it? The thought decorated an inconspicuous smirk to her thin, rose lips; and, not to her surprise, she wasn't the only one smiling.

A harsh burst of static blasted the air, a screech of a microphone too close to speakers, and then a voice. It spoke of a 'social experiment'. Anden-Chameleon would have laughed, if he was the sarcastic, dryly amused type. He knew what they meant. A Hunger Games of sorts. But whoever survives gets more daily torture as a prize. They're not a hero, forever safe and wealthy. Simply the most prized specimen. That was no blessing... it was a curse. Then silence. He should have known better than to hope at all. They would kill each other, because they knew their fate if they didn't. Was he a fool, to think that the scientists and the lieutenant would let them plot to escape this... place? He turned his thoughts away from that and turned to look at the others. He saw some of the freakish faces around him tensed, but most of them smirked, or just waited. Who would strike first? Run first? Anden-Chameleon had a feeling that if anyone would run first, it would be him. The others looked strong. Chameleon's residual brain, which was only weakly manifested, had early on merged with his. He knew it was the mind of a scavenger- made for adapting, hiding, fleeing- but not fighting, unless necessary. It was like his own, but... alien. Now, he felt it rising as it sensed the impending danger.

The brain's useful survival instincts directed him to evaluate each threat, and find which was most likely to be the most immediate danger. His eyes were continually drawn back towards the one with no obvious animal parts- the one who had first spoken, the one the girl with shark teeth had labeled 'sailor'. He seemed so casual, but his eyes were endless black pits, a void where a soul had once been, but seemed to be dissolved entirely. He made quiet notes of the hostile or smirking ones, the powerful-looking ones, but this one seemed so dead inside, Anden-Chameleon felt he would laugh if he was dying. Laugh and spit in the face of death. If his own face wasn't that of death... He quietly shuddered. No, he thought silently. I must not show fear. He crouched, hands clenched lightly into fists, gritting his teeth and hardening his gaze so they would not sense fear in him, to rid himself of that fear, and the brain of Chameleon wove his thoughts into a grayish mist. His skin slowly began to gain the same grayish hue, muting the brilliant colors that shifted across his scaly skin. He was getting better at this- he had at first been unable to control the colors that popped up on their own, occasionally responding to his mood- but now he could control it, if he concentrated. Maybe soon he'd be able to become virtually invisible. But for now, he simply was becoming the color of the concrete, increasingly hard to see as the color spread. It would make him not so much a painted target as he was before. The others were waiting for someone to strike first. Well, no matter who it was, it wouldn't be him. Let the others smirk their smirks. He would do his best to be prepared, to fight back, live for as long as he could... but he knew, deep down, that he more than likely wasn't prepared to take a life, or to see death, whosoever it was.

Shark Teeth absentmindedly licked her lips, wishing there was some moisture somewhere in the arena. Something told her she couldn't survive for any extended period without water. As the speakers crackled, her dark gaze snapped back up to the window. She listened, her smirk morphing into a growl as she listened. They would regret letting her free. She could tell that few or none of the others thought of escape, but she did. Well, escape after murder, that is. She had no qualms with participating in a bloodbath. In fact, she was counting on it. She intended to survive, no matter who she had to kill to get there. That, and hone her skills to a point where no mere human could contain her. Then she would get her revenge. The smirk returned to her lips as the microphone turned off. She licked her lips, pointedly staring at the Lieutenant. After she was finished with the other subjects, he would feel her teeth. She imagined his flesh would be sweet. For now, though, she would have to think of strategy.

Snake's sharp eyes stared pointedly at each and every one of the subjects, studying their prominent features and clear behavior, figuring their skills and strategies by looking at them. Her facial features appeared bored, almost, though her mind and thoughts swirled within her head as a plan began to grow. She chose her skills and strategies she would use with each one of the subjects, starting with the weakest one, which she figured to be a young man who twitched in the corner of her eye. His brown hair was tousled in a mess and his beady eyes peered about, revealing his nervousness, his anxiety. Rat, she guessed in her head. He'd be a simple ally in the first few hours of this 'game.' After his use was simply gone, he'd be an easy kill.
Her thoughts moved to the young man across from her, his skin dark and shining in the artificial sunlight the scientists so cleverly produced from above. Patches of scales covered his skin, and reptilian eyes beaded down at the ground. Chameleon. She watched as he crouched, disappearing almost completely into the air; but she could smell him, with a simple flick of her tongue. Another easy kill. To the others, he might be invisible, but not to Snake.
Next was the bat girl, the one she'd always see through the little barred window in their cell door. The one who lingered in the dark and wept at night, scratching at her eyes with a horrific sob. She'd always felt for the girl, but not now. The girl stood stick-straight as she did the same as Snake; analyzed the subjects, picking them apart one by one. Her long, pointed fingers hung at her sides, hair unkempt and tangled at her shoulders. Snake doubted she'd be an easy ally, and she wouldn't try. Best to stay away from her, but any approach, and she would snap.
The next one was a thin, pale girl with long, deformed arms and the beginning of a second pair emerging from her rib cage. Pinchers stuck out from her cheek bones, and fangs filled her mouth. Snake guessed this was the spider subject, the one who huddled themselves into the tiny cell and sat in a corner for the whole of their new life. Quick to evolve, and quick on her feet; dangerous.
Beside her stood a girl who looked... well, almost normal, if you looked at her from the neck down. Her mouth, however, was full of horrific teeth, all pointed at the ends, glaring in the light just as her eyes glared at the subjects. Snake assumed she would be one to initiate battles with the others. She would simply wait for a confrontation before she would strike.
Another reptile stood to her right, scales covering parts of his skin in patches and sharp spikes shooting out from his spine. Alligator? He would have to be. He seemed like another hostile creature. Again, Snake would only wait.
The last one was a man with a glare in his eye and pallid skin, veins twisting visibly beneath it, in mixes of cerulean, periwinkle and burgundy. His hands clenched and unclenched at his sides, causing his knuckles to glow an even brighter alabaster white than they already were. Transparent skin wrinkled into a sneer, stretching at the scars and scrapes and cuts around his face and forehead- a fighter? This must be virus; it had to be, he was the only one left as Snake counted off the subjects in her mind. This one would be trouble, she guaranteed.
Snake did nothing as she observed the behavior and appearance of the creatures that stood still before her, only watching, waiting for any of them to move a muscle. Waiting to strike; a predator and her prey.
