Mothtail had given up looking for Hawkpaw. She couldn't find the little furball anywhere, so she resorted to sitting alone. "A peaceful day. Time to rest." She laid in the sun cheerily.

Wolfrunner nodded. "I don't believe we should take any apprentices. Even if they can cope, it will be dangerous for even the strongest warriors."

Ferretstripe watched the group with interest, and he seemed flattered under the leader's praise. He shifted his shoulders nervously "I think Fogpaw might have a few choice words about that..." he meowed, mostly joking but with a slight wobble to his tone. not that he was afraid of his apprentice, but it would be nice if he wasn't miffed off about the badger. "It might be an idea to at least take them and keep them at a safe distance so they can learn not to be fool hardy."

Battuft looked down at her apprentice with a considering gaze, She then turned to the leader's den and perked her black fluffed ears. "I suppose it can't hurt just for today...don't you tell Bearstar or Wolfrunner though." She meowed and nudged the smaller she-cat's shoulder. "We'll just be quick."

Stormheart dips her head slightly in acknowledgement to what Bearstar said. She was certainly ready to go, and she was a fairly good swimmer. In truth, she wasnt too worried about this. With their numbers, they should easily be able to kill, or at least chase out, this badger.
Getting to her paws, Stormheart stretches her paws forward, jaws opening in a yawn. She hated to admit it, but she was tired. Though, a good run will certainly wake her up no problem. With a faint nod at the leader, she exits the leaders den. Time to grab a quick bite of food before leaving. As much as she would like to take Jaypaw, she simply didnt want to put her apprentice at risk. Upon spotting her apprentice talking with Featherpaw, she gives a faint nod in their direction before padding straight to the dwindling fresh-kill pile. It seemed a hunting patrol would need to be sent out after the badgers taken care of...

Featherpaw listens to Jaypaws own thoughts on the matter before just shrugging slightly. In reality, the silver tabby wasnt too concerned with it. As long as no one else got killed that is. Yet, at the other she-cats question, Featherpaw tilts her head to the side slightly. "Alright i guess....Mainly hunting stuff so far. I still need to work on my fighting..." She replies truthfully with a slightly embarrassed smile. It was true though. She was turning into an excelent hunter, and she could swim, but fighting...? She was struggling slightly. While she was quick, she just didnt have a lot of power yet.
Movement out of the corner of her eye catches Featherpaws attention. "Hey the meeting must be over!" She mews, watching as Stormheart was the first to leave. The raven black she-cat had simply gave them a nod before making for the freshkill pile. The warrior looked exhausted...but that didnt surprise her. That cat would run herself to the ground before admitting she was tired.

Wolfrunner considered the statement, but wasn't sold on bringing apprentices. "Even a long distance away, if a badger breaks through a barrier, which we all know is possible, most of our apprentices don't have that much experience."

Jaypaw got a good look at the female, as she explained her strengths and weakness. The feline was lithe and skinny; she didn't seen to have the powerful muscles that defined a good fighter, which explained why she was behind in her battle training. Jaypaw was in fact very similar to te figure of her denmate. She was lithe as well, and somewhat lighter than Owlpaw. But Jaypaw wasn't a bad fighter, it made her agile, and she was able to land quick blows and dodge attacks. She just didn't have that bulky umph to finish increase the power of her attacks. She was horrible at swimming though, and would probably drown somehow before she could get belly deep. As Jaypaw listened, she was also in her own world of thought, and looked up in surprise as Featherpaw announced the senior warriors exiting the meeting. She spotted Stormheart by the freshkill like, and stood up. "Sorry, but I would like to go speak to my mentor." She told the she-cat. "I'll catch you later!" She turned and bounded towards Stormheart, nudging the warrior's side with her nose. She noticed the exhausted expression on Stormheart's face. "How did the meeting go?" She didn't care if she didn't get any information, she just was curious. "Are you going to fight the badger?"

Hawkpaw and Owlpaw squawked like birds, until Hawkpaw noticed his mentor bathing in the sun. He let out a huff. "We could be battle training, and my mentor is laying down like a lazy rock!" Flicking his ears, he crept quietly towards Mothtail, remembering what she had trained him. At a close enough distance, the apprentice pounced, pressing his paws against her side. He tumbled over her, landing with satisfaction. "Bet you didn't see that coming!" Triumphantly, he walked around to the front of her. "Hey Mothtail, do you think I can help fight the badger?"

Stormheart had just snatched up a thrush from the freshkill pile when she felt a slight nudge at her side. Jaypaw. A soft purr rises in her throat. Twitching her ears she motions to a spot just away from the pile before dropping her thrush. "Good morning Jaypaw. I apologize for not being able to train you as much as i should have as of late..." Stormheart mews apologetically. She really was sorry, for she shouldnt be negleting her apprentice of her training, but things have been...hectic lately. Now answering the young she-cats question, the raven black cat nods her head faintly. "The meeting didnt go poorly if thats what you're asking. The decision was made to go after the badger as well. I know that you are against it, but going after it now may save triuble later...On theory perhaps but i'd rather be safe then sorry," she replies. Stormheart gazed down at the young she-cat with a thoughtful expression. Perhaps he young cat could be brought along...but then again she didnt want to put her at risk. She would wait until the other warriors make up their minds. So, while Jaypaw thought over what she said, Stormheart bent down to start eating her thrush. He really was hungry...just realizing that after the first bite. The rest of the thrush was soon gone, leaving Stormheart to lick her lips to remove the last traces of her meal.

"Don't worry Stormheart. There are more important things right now, that can postpone training." She replied. It was true, as much as she enjoyed training with her mentor, it didn't matter to her if there was something more important going on, such as the badger. Training could always wait and re-continue after the problem is resolved. She hesitantly nodded, "I see. I guess in the long run it would be better, as long a we don't lose cats in the process." She sat down and occasionally locked her gaze to watch Stormheart eat the kill. The tabby wasn't hungry at all, contently relaxing beside her ravenous mentor. "Owlpaw and Hawkpaw keep talking about whether or not they will be able to go. Do you think we'll be able to fight with the patrol?" She asked curiously, wanting to finally have an actual answer that could hopefully shut the mouths of her littermates when she told them. Personally, Jaypaw didn't care about fighting the badger; she was fine either way.
