I guess they got that much right, since that's what would happen in real life with feral cats, so... score one for Hunter? I guess?

1 for hunter, 3,000,000 for us

After rereading a few books in the series, I swear that I have not seen a SINGLE said. Anywhere.
Go ahead, Erins! Maybe your reader's feeble minds will be able to comprehend that the characters are cats soon enough!

Oh, but they can't be cats, they can shrug, so they have to make it real clear. Magic shrugging cats that are all related and cans say anything!

What i see in terms of cat mentions in 1 page
"I am a cat" The cat meows
"We are a cat clan" The other cat kills a mouse with his cat teeth and cat claws
"Look AT ME!"The cat mewed as a climbed a tree with his powerful cat legs. "Remember, a cat must have paws to walk
The other cat knodded. Then he shruged.
"OW" The other cat yowled
"What? The cat jumped down 300 feet and landed squarley on his paws
"I think I broke my shoulder bones" The cat looked at the other cat's cat eyes
"How?"
"Cats cannot shrug. I think the Hunters are abusing us by making us shrug. OH LOOK A MOUSE oh I can ignore cat instincts I won't attack it."
oops, I turned the tables so the first cat was hurt
well it depicts hunter soooo

You almost got it, but you needed to add 'He/she felt a pang of 'insert emotion here'' at least twice.

Then you've got Hunter.

Fictional animal abuse aside, it's time for another update!

Chapter Two

Graystripe has this bad habit of making jokes at inopportune times, and then quickly being corrected by his seniors. For example, just this minute, he jokes that ThunderClan did all the fighting for ShadowClan during the battle for their freedom, and he looks embarrassed and says "oops" when Whitestorm points out that the cats they were fighting for were literally almost too weak to stand. I'm not exactly sure whether it's because Erin Hunter doesn't know how to write jokes, or if Graystripe is actually that dense, but whatever the case is, it's pretty dumb and doesn't reflect well on his character.

What little there is.

So, wait, when did Fireheart get Wetfoot's name? They didn't stick around after the battle, and he wasn't introduced to anyone but a queen and a couple elders. How would they know each other?

Also...Wetfoot? Really? Ew, dude. That's just a straight up gross name. Can you imagine being the cat named Wetkit? Do you know how many disgusting implications that has? What on earth pushed his mother to name him that? Was she just delusional after giving birth and didn't bother cleaning him up?

I just- eugh. This is making me a little nauseated thinking about it. Poor guy.

I don't think Erin Hunter was putting much thought into these names. Take notes, guys: when making a warrior OC, recognize that they are going to be born with and keeping their prefix for up to a year and a half, which is a pretty extensive part of a cat's life. So while you might think the name Fallensnow might be pretty, imagine how it might be living as Fallenkit/Fallenpaw.

This is why lyrical naming simply doesn't work. It doesn't take into account that your cat is just going to be a prefix for a while, and that a pretty sounding name does not make up for a bunch of cats sitting around for a year and a half going "what on earth did you name him Wishing- for?" Even when they get their warrior name and the prefix finally makes sense, congratulations! Your cat still has a name that makes no sense except for poetic reasons, and remind me, do the warriors ever show any love for poetry or song?

No. They don't. So knock it off with your Horizongaze's and your Brokensong's.

Aaand I've derailed the post complaining about names. Whoops.

Back on track - Leopardfur, the future leader of RiverClan, is briefly introduced, but Bluestar calls for the meeting to begin, so that was a quick and pointless introduction. Yellowfang is introduced as ThunderClan's new medicine cat, and it's noted that she seems uncomfortable under all the stares, but no one really says anything to her. Hey, that reminds me-

Remember this, last book? Isn't it a little odd that nobody says, "What is the renowned ShadowClan medicine cat doing in ThunderClan?" You would think that this would be a pretty big conversation piece, especially when people realize that Brokenstar is gone and some old twig's taken his place.

Clearly someone forgot what they wrote last book~

Anyway, Crookedstar quickly announces that since Brokenstar is gone, there's no need for RiverClan to share their territory. Nightpelt, of course, argues that they made an agreement, but Crookedstar gets all aggro about it. Was he really so scared of Brokenstar that the second he's no longer in the picture, he gets all jocky? That's pathetic.

Bluestar shuts Nightpelt down by pointing out that the deal made broke the code, and that ShadowClan is much smaller now due to Brokenstar's party fleeing, and that Nightpelt isn't in any position to make demands when he hasn't even earned his lives yet. Of course, that's ruined by everyone arguing about WindClan and whether or not they should search for them or just split the territory. I'm amazed that these are the very same cats who were shocked by the idea of destroying their individual Clans in order to join up as a singular. They hold pretty hard to tradition, clearly - why isn't everyone like, "Dude, the Big Four are a necessity. We need to find our ancient neighbors, and soon"?

Tigerclaw actually argues that WindClan needs to come back, which is shocking, considering his characterization later in the books. You could argue that he's just kissing up to Bluestar, but I don't buy it, and I'm sure you don't buy it either. There's a reason he's called Obviousvillain on this thread.

Image

Why do you think, you moron? Anyone directly calling out a Clan is going to ruffle some fur.

Bluestar does convince the other leaders that WindClan must return, so that's good, though a look between Crookedstar and Nightpelt makes Fireheart think that they might not be so willing after all. Tigerclaw catches the look too, so that means that they very obviously gave each other a look that meant that they might team up to do something terrible, which means that everyone could see it, which means a lot of other cats should have seen it. But we know how this stuff goes, so let's just forget it.

Up next: Chapter Three.

Oh, speaking of Erin not putting effort into the names... Oddfoot. There's literally a cat called Odd- damn - foot. It makes sense, but ODD-foot? Nope.
And Deadfoot. Deadkit? Stop it. ACTUALLY STOP.

Wetkit. That's a little wrong. Hahaha
