"T-Theres a jaguar in the jungle," he choked out. "She died protecting the kits. I-I got here to late."

Splashfrost cringed. "And Petalkit?", she said, naming the tiniest of the kits. She knew the she-cat had been Purpleflower's favorite.

Lionfang shook his head, burying his muzzle in his mate's fur. He himself bored battle wounds - one paw forepaw had been ripped clean off.

Splashfrost looked at her cousin worriedly before licking Lionfang's ears. "Shh, it's okay. We'll find Petalkit. You stay here with the others.", she examined his body for any major wounds, spotting his bloody paw. She looked at him and gave a small smile. "You'll be fine."

Firestar quickly went to fetch their medicine cat.

Lionfang looked at his paw - or, rather, where it had been. "..." Sobs raking his body, he pressed closer to his mate.

Splashfrost groomed his ears. "Shh...", she attempted to sooth the Warrior.

Firestar emerged from the medicine den, heading towards Splashpuddle. "Shadedleaf has him knocked out with poppy seeds. Lost a paw, it'll be a long road to recovery." He glanced at the clearing - Purpleflower's and Petalkit's bodies were lying there for vigil. Cherryblossom was watching the other three kits in the elder's den.
