Open for posting. The current competition will run from Jan. 29th to Feb. 12th
This topic is for the official conformation competition of Bear Run Equestrian.
What is the Conformation competition, you ask? It is an art competition that is designed to both educate on proper horse conformation, and give tolter owners a chance to draw their horses and figure out their faults. Digital and Traditional art is accepted and the goal is to draw your tolter properly squared up and with the best conformation that you can. Now, there is no such thing as a perfectly conformed horse, so the goal isn't to have your horse be entirely perfect. Part of the judging will also be on being able to identify your horse's faults, so you are encouraged to give them a fault here and there (ex: upright pasterns, long back, pigeon toed, etc. its up to you what fault(s) your horse has)

Scoring:
- ➸Effort: 1-5 points. Not necessarily who has the best art skills, just that we can tell that effort was put in.
➸Squared up: 1-10 points. It is important to have your horse properly squared up so that conformation can be properly judged.
➸Fault identification: 1-10 points. This doesn't mean that you have to give your horse a ton of faults, just that you can identify the ones it does have. You can earn more points by identifying problems that each specific fault may lead to for the horse.
➸Proper conformation:1-10 Because I believe that no horse at bear run is an enire train wreck, you will also get points for having a fairly well conformed horse. I know this may seem slightly contradicting, but because perfect conformation doesn't exist its totally fine to have a well conformed and beautiful horse that still has a few faults.
➸Additional points: 1-10 points. You can earn up to a total of 10 additional points for drawing your horse directly from the front, and directly from the back. Each of these additional pictures can earn up to 5 points a piece. This is because in the real world you would need each of these angles to get a full judge of a horse's conformation so that you can tell if their legs line up properly and if they have issues such as being cow hocked or narrow based. You don't necessarily have to include the horse's head, you can have the picture only show the legs and chest like in the examples

Marks: what are marks? Marks are points that can be used to earn yourself a custom. It takes 250 marks to earn a custom (I know this is high, but it is so that we don't have an overflow of customs). I will keep track of marks in this same topic so that you don't have to worry about losing track of how many you have.
