Okay, I think it's past time I do something to thank those of you who have been helping me out around here. So what I'm going to do is put up a poll with some ideas of possible rewards. Votes are appreciated, but I won't limit it to just the outcome of the poll. You're also welcome to discuss with me and each other what you'd like to get as your reward for all the help and support you've given Mythicarium.

For the heck of it, I sketched up a quick pixel map of Mythicarium. It's not finalized so I wasn't intending to show it yet. The point is a map is totally plausible, and if pixel art would be too jarring or misleading, I can easily redo it in the same vector style as the adopts.

I've got to admit, I've never run a group RP before. If any of you have been in one, I'd love to hear what sort of things you look for in a group RP, and in particular what sort of rules you think are must haves or really can't stand.

I know for sure there will be yet another thread for applications and other important RP reference material. Boy but this shop is going to be taking up a lot of threads... ^^; Is that normal for adopts on here?

roleplays huh, I've been in a bunch of them and have created a few rps myself here is a little list of things that could help:

1 the main rules are usually pretty basic. such as no godmodding, no mary/gary sues, no cussing, don't go too far ahead, give recaps when needed... ect. If you would like more, just pm me. I usually look at Semilit rp's rules to see what sounds good. I always think it is a good idea to create a basis for how literate some people should be, because I have roleplayed with quite a few people who do not put any puncuation, or quotations and you have to spend a few minutes staring at the post before understanding what it means.
2 another good idea is to appoint a minimod, I would suggest someone who you already know if someone like that is available, as sometimes people don't get accepted for about a week or two because the main owner is away.
3 and everyone always expects to see a form, as I've only seen like one rp in which you don't have to fill out a form, and that can get really confusing
the main things in there should probably be name, gender, age, species, looks, proof of adoption, and personality, as I don't really think much else will have been developed.
4 of course there should be a strike/banning system for those few people who for some reason don't know how to read rules
5 in group roleplays, or any roleplays, somethings can get pretty boring pretty quick, so it's always a good idea to have some drama in there to keep people replying. thought usually the roleplayers do a good job of that themselves
other than that, there ain't much to it, you just have to keep replying and find ways to make sure no one is left out.
it's always a good Idea to ask that question on the main help forum, just to hear other people's POVs

You guys are helping me with pretty much every aspect of the shop at this point. If you're going to do the work, you should get some form of compensation for it.

I plan to have a few more rules than that. Owners must be humanoid, no adopts from other shops, don't go more than 2 pages without me posting, and as I think I previously mentioned only one player per shop at a time. I think Semi-Lit would be about the right classification for it, but I do intend to have both a minimum and maximum post limit so there won't be people writing half a page and getting a single word in response, or vice versa. Probably something like 10-200 words, approximately 2 sentences to 2-3 paragraphs.

As for drama, I will be relying a bit on people creating their own, but since I'll have the shopkeepers they'll be able to initiate small events and will always be available for conversation.

I should be able to get a thread set up soon for everyone to take a look at. Possibly as soon as tomorrow, but I try not to promise things if I'm not absolutely certain. I would do it now but it is very late, to the point that it's actually early. Oops.

I want to handle this one thread at a time. Except I might put up the trading post thread while working on the RP.

what do you put for proof of ownership if you own the adopt outright? like, if it's a custom betta or teamaid? do you just say, "It's mine" or something? just a clarification more than anything

other than that, it's looking pretty good

You know, I'm not actually clear on what good proof of ownership would be. Honestly just having the picture covers a lot of it. And I can't be relied on to keep the archive up to date enough for that to work.

Sorry for the lack of replies, but role-playing is not something I am familiar with, so don't really have any input to add. But the thread is looking nice, I may be tempted to give it a try, but I am afraid I wouldn't be very good or talkative.

Roleplaying definitely comes more naturally to some than others, but if you're interested you're absolutely welcome to give it a shot. You can also let me know if you need help with anything. I'm not what most people consider "literate" because I don't like long, flowery posts but I have been roleplaying for quite a number of years. It varies depending on what you count as roleplaying.
