"It's not that simple. There's s lot at stake if I'm hurt or killed, the power could be shifted, even stolen from my family if the eldest son isn't able to rule after his father. Got to keep me in mint condition." He smiled faintly, eyes trained on the ground. "it's not all that bad though, the castle is large, and the garden out back is quite the sight. I'll show it to you sometime, the day lilies are in full bloom now."
The garden was his favorite part of the castle. It was never completely quiet out there, unlike many of the yawning hallways inside. There was always a soft whisper as the wind carved its way through the sky, and leaves were always rustling against one another and birds were always speaking to each other from their perches on the branches of the trees. He also had a small plot of land there that he had convinced the gardeners not to disturb, where he kept his own little garden. It wasn't very pretty, and usually did not hold the bursting rainbow of flowers the other perfectly-kept beds did, spilling their perfumed fragrance across the yard, but it was his and was always proud when another tender bud found it's way into the sun.

He nodded in understanding at Sibyls response, raising his eyebrows, a hint of a smile showing around his features. "so you took down a two hundred pound man for bullying her." He asked, somewhat in wonder. "Krea must mean the world to you." He once again became aware of her on his back. She had wrapped her arms around his neck now, her head on his shoulder as she slept. She felt so fragile, like glass. A little china doll protected by her toy soldier.

all around; Anders was a close family friend of the Wesley's before Chris had been born. When they had asked him to train her he had accepted immediately. Anders thinks of Chris as his daughter. He knows her secret, and while he's not comfortable with her position he's not willing to fight with her about it. Anders had a son seven years ago named Taegan and sent his son to live with he's late wife's parents so that he could be raised properly. Anders had to focus on his knight-ship so that he could defend his kingdom and be there for Chris should she need him.

Eleanora was about to follow her brother back when she stopped suddenly. She had almost forgotten about Tristan, they had no idea where he was. Despite what Fendrel said about leaving Tristan behind, she wouldn't just abandon him out here. "Wait," she said. "We have to go find Tristan. I know you're upset with him, but that's nothing new, and we can't just leave him." She waited go see how her brother would react to her request. It was always hard to tell.

Sibyl hummed a tone of understanding when Melo explained. Perhaps it did make a bit of sense. The whole running a kingdom thing was kind of a big deal. This small sharing of stories and information had drawn her from her stone attitude and placed a dreamy look upon her face. Her eyes seemed softer than before and her voice too had lost it's usual edge of aggression. "I can't imagine it being terrible: the extravagant clothes, the finest weapons, food every day, and a warm bed." the last two things she listed seemed insignificant, but to her, they were the world. A roof over her head would be a blessing and a half. "You'd know everyone and everyone would know you-- not as trash. And the balls!" she clapped her hands together before realizing that she had let her walls down. Her eyes went wide and she dropped her hands, straightening her posture.

The woman cleared her throat, dropping her eyes and letting the hardness return to her demeanor. "I do what I have to to keep her safe. She's all I have left and I'd do everything in my power to keep her safe and happy. I haven't done so well so far," her gaze fell to her tattered sister with torn clothes and a bony body, her knees and hands still slightly bloody, "But she's strong. Stronger than I could ever hope to be."

Fendrel rolled his eyes when he heard Eleanora speak behind him. He mouthed something to himself, making a dramatic show of flipping his head around when he turned to look at her. Of course, when he looked at her he had formed a casual expression. "He is fine. As Chris said, there is a knight after him. He is not alone. He is right, he's nineteen. Perhaps it's time he gets some independence." there was a bit of a mocking tone in his voice. Sure, Fendrel wished for independence and excitement, but he never made such a flaunt of it as the boy. He wasn't about to tell someone off then run away. He was a fighter, not anyone who would flee. That was what annoyed him most of all. "I will tell father that we got in a fight and he ran off. He will surely send out a search party for him and he will be dragged back by his ears."

Chris grinned and followed Fendrel, she could have kept up at a faster pace too but she didn't want to push Adrasteia, despite the fact that the horse was hardly limping. Chris knew that pushing the horse could cause her to go permanently lame and Chris was absolutely positive that she could get eight more years out of the horse at least. She couldn't bear to have anything happen to her.

Chris turned to look at Eleanor with a small smile, she was about to speak when Fendrel did. She agreed with everything he had to say, of course it was mostly because she was more worried about Adrasteia than she was about the prince. Not that she was going to tell anyone that. "I hold my alcohol just fine," Chris said gruffly, "I happen to remember drinking you to the ground once." She teased. It hadn't happened of course. Chris had been a mess after three drinks. She couldn't hold her alcohol at all and had made a point of not drinking much since that episode because she'd gotten careless and had almost given herself away.

She raised an eyebrow at Fendrel's last comment, wanting to point out the many times that had happened to Fendrel but thinking better of it. Most of those times Chris had been at the head of the search party, in her younger years, before receiving her knighthood, she had often been the one with Fendrel as he went on his adventures. In recent years they had left the castle less and less.

Belle made her way to the marketplace in her disguise.Quickly shoving through the crowd,she tried to make it to the cart of apples.Suddenly a claw-like grip on her arm stopped her from walking.An ugly looking man yanked her over to him and growled,"What are ye doing boy?".As she was pulled,her hat flew of and her black wavy hair tumbled down her back.The man gaped at her for a couple seconds,then grinned,"What do we have here?"He said with a wicked grin

Eleanora wasn't happy with the answer Fendrel had given her but she didn't argue. There was nothing she'd be able to do anyway. Once Fendrel had his mind made up, it was very unlikely that he would change it. She sighed and nudged her horse forward to follow behind Fendrel and Chris. Now that Fendrel also had the captain on his side there was no way she'd be able to make a difference. She considered trying to go to find Tristan on her own but that only lasted for half a second. She'd never make it very far on her own, and there was no way Fendrel would let her leave his sight out here. She silently rode behind them, trying to think up a way to change their minds before they were too far away.

Fendrel began on the trek again once he was certain that his sister wasn't going to pose anymore objections. Again he began the motion of bringing the deer skin to his lips and tipped it back. His anticipation of wine was crushed when no liquid came out. He had drank it all down already. He snorted in disbelief at Chris, chucking the skin back to her, "You spread lies." He guffawed, knowing full well he could easily down drinks faster and more easily than the knight. He, to be fair, had made more of a habit of drinking. "I seem to recall having to help you back to your quarters after only a handful of drinks." he corrected.

He leaned forward a bit on the back of the horse, resting his forehead against the neck of the stallion. "We need a plan when we get back." He fell quiet for no longer than thirty seconds. "Chris, do not enter the castle, make it as though you were on patrol. Ele, find a way into the gardens without being seen. You can claim to have been there for the afternoon. I will find father."

Chris caught the skin and grinned at Fendrel. "I don't know what you're talking about," She said gruffly, making sure her voice doesn't slip again. That happened too much around Fendrel and she was actually surprised that the prince hadn't noticed. Chris glanced back to make sure Eleanora was still following them before looking over at Fendrel. "That plan sounds as good as any," Chris said, thankful that she didn't have to meet with the king just yet.

She stumbled a little and was able to right herself quickly with the help of her horse. Chris blushed furiously and shook her head hoping that Fendrel hadn't noticed. She really didn't need to give the prince more ammunition to tease her with. Although Fendrel didn't tease her nearly as much as Anders had, the man that taught Chris how to fight. Chris missed her old training master suddenly and shook her head to get the thought out of it. Anders was in Ulea and she wasn't going to see him any time soon.

He nodded. He was very fortunate, very fortunate. He glanced at the girl when he heard the dreamy longing in her voice, and was surprised at what he saw. Something about her had shifted. She was the same person, but her shoulders had lost their tense hunch and her face was softer, not as guarded as it had been before. Even her eyes had lost their steel. Maybe this was a different person that walked alongside him after all. He hoped the woman he had first met was the false one, though.

"A ball?" he inquired. He personally didn't enjoy them, they were tools that his father used to get allies and show off his power and status. It was also the time when he went around looking for a possible wife for his son, and every ball Melo would watch his father with worried eyes as he discussed with the lords and ladies about possible marriage contracts. So far he hadn't signed any, he was probably aiming for a contract with a princess instead of a lady or duchess. Balls still filled the prince with dread. But the way that Sibyl spoke the word, like it was magic, made him smile. There was a certain magic about a ball, even with all the formalities.

"believe it or not, there's a ball tomorrow night, in Relgia" he commented offhandedly. "I believe that, with a little washing up on your part and a dress, that you could possibly attend it with me?" he glanced at her quickly then looked away, embarrassed. She had merely mentioned a ball, and now he had hurled an invitation to one in another kingdom the next day, even though they hadn't reached the this own kingdom's palace yet. "Unless that's absurd, I apologize." he flushed a reddish color and laughed nervously.
