Thank you for the tutorial, I didn't know how to do it that way... I was doing it another, but this way is much better. ^^;

Re: Digitally Distinct: Weaving: Pt 2?

Casually going to bring up another method on figuring out where you can find a foreground and ackground in an image, with link to Of The Fall's tutorial on it.
If you have a shape that is complicated and has different distances, this is for you.

I think Roxy in my Sig is close to on point. I like the way her hand looks like it's about to clutch the bar over her hand. On the other dude, though, I see the problem.

I agree. Your Roxy is very on-point.
With image weaving, it is possible to make it so a specific part of the weave is not weaved.
It's a matter of perspective, what image is close and what image is far away.
If I may, Can I explain this using your Roxy image as a visual aid?
It's complicated enough for perspective to be a little bit difficult to show.

Sure!
I might edit it later and fix the back part.

I only got back to this now because I have been kinda busy.
So I am going to explain this in general here to make sure it all works out.
When weaving, you need to figure out where the fore and background are.
It helps to have a general idea of landscape. As mentioned, with complicated shapes, this is hard to do if you do not have a basic knowledge of image perspective. An example of this is with the image I am going to use, with permission, to edit.
Image
The best way of doing this is by looking at it from an aerial POV. Aka Bird Point of view.
Image
This is what the image would look like 2D and with no weaving. The roxy image is on top of everything.
So if we were to see what you have done to it from a bird eyes view, you may think it looks like this:
Image
Unfortunately, that is not the case. That would be acceptable to have it like that, but it doesn't work as well. Instead, you have this:
Image
This is what it looks like. You can't draw it from a birds eye view. It doesn't flow or make sense.
So you can always partial weave, which means the line doesn't go the whole way through. Which is fine if you can disguise it.
To do this, simply erase part of the image so it doesn't flow over it.
For this, I can see doing two things here:
Image
I went ahead and re-edited the gif where it has "or this" on it.
And this is the result:
Image
The finger is in front of the purple pole so it looks like she is grabbing it, and the hood thing flows through without overlapping and it looks 3D. I erased part of the line so this 3d-er effect can take place.

As you can see, I cannot draw for the love of me.
But that is the basic idea of Weaving with harder images and with use of the bird eye view effect.
It is good to get a birds eye view of where the picture is shaped so you can work it out from there. :)
I hope this helps people. It is a little late yes, but better late than never *Unless this was already done*

Key Words:
Weaving
Image Manipulation

I found a websight that might be useful..
http://www.picmonkey.com

It's great to use if you want to put text on it and arrange anyway you like. It also can be good for people who want a good sig but don't know how to code you can just enter the c.s sig size and make it transparent and away you go.

I don't think these hex
codes are completely
correct, so when doing
art of Ashton you can
find the codes yourself c:

^^my crazy coding^^

I'm trying to get quotes like the center one with the art types in it onto the sides. Basically two quotes with the same size font and stuff on the sides of the main art quote to take up that space with 'fake pets' and 'headshots'. And then I'm trying to use a tiny pixel art to squeeze into that blank space on the left where a quote won't be able to fill up space.

trying to make it look like this~

thanks c:
