As he arrived to pick her up he whistled at her "What was the special occasion?" He asked and opened the door from the inside. Once she got in he pulled off "A party." She said blandly looking out the window closing her eyes. When the arrived at her house Copeland smiled and kisses his cheek "Thanks" she said then entered the house, ignored her brother and his friends and made her way to her bed. Copeland put on a baggy shirt and sweats then flopped on her bed

Brice made it back to his car, fairly exhausted. He was happy that his drive home was a close one, so it didn't take long. He parked his car along the curb, then dragged his way to the front door. Once inside, he kicked off his shoes. He glanced to the kitchen, but decided he was too tired to eat and just went straight upstairs. No one had been downstairs, so when he saw his parents' closed door, he assumed they were in there sleeping already. He trudged into his room, closing the door behind him, before peeling off his shirt, leaving it on the floor, and crawling into bed.

Copeland woke up but decided to stay in bed, she felt terrible. She had a head ache and she was just exhausted because she didnt get much sleep. Her mother and father went in there often to bring her soup and medications but she was too tired to eat, all she did was cuddle her pillow, watch tv and try to get some sleep (which was impossible at this point). She watched cartoons and sighed to herself

Brice groaned as he woke up to the sound of his phone buzzing near his head. He didn't exactly remember making it home, so he assumed he must have fallen asleep with it. He picked it up to see that he had missed 16 texts. He reviewed them, then sighed. They all had some message along the lines of 'where did you go' and 'what happened yesterday'. He only put his phone down and decided he'd prepare for a shower. That would help get this weighty feeling off of him.

Copeland decided to get up and get going. She was never like this, she never felt this way and frankly she didnt like the feeling. She hopped in the shower then went downstairs to get some food "Whats wrong babygirl?" Her mom and Cope shook her head and smiled "Nothing, i was being stupid and now that i realize i was i can move on and be happy." She said casually. Her mom eyed her curiously but didnt say anything. Cope sat on the couch next to her brother and hugged him "You were right when we were younger. Boys are stupid." She joked and grabbed the controllers from the game closet, turning the Xbox on.

Brice exited the bathroom, towel around waist and hand towel ruffling through his hair. That definitely made him feel better. He pulled on a pair of jogging pants and a t-shirt just to hang out in. Making a split second decision on something he had been debating with himself in the shower, he grabbed his phone and texted Copeland. I'm sorry. You were right. I'll make sure we never cross paths again. He hit send then shoved his phone into his pocket before going over to his pet's cage and picking him up.

"Come, James, let's go tell everyone good morning and...maybe go to the mall with the guys or something in a bit? ...Well, no, of course you couldn't go. Don't be silly." He chuckled, pretending to talk to his pet as he left his room and headed downstairs toward the kitchen. He let James slither up on his shoulders while he made himself something to drink.

Copeland was about to shove her brothers controller out of her brothers hand when he phone rang. Her heart hurt a little after reading and she bit her lip debating: If thats what you really want. she looked at the text and sent it before she could delete it and pour her heart out to him. It was clear he didnt want her, if he did he would fight to keep her. She sighed and handed her controller to her brothers friend and stepped outside to get some air.

Sarah, her adoptive mom came outside and sat next to her. "Whats wrong Cope?" She asked and put her arm over her shoulder. Cope clasped her hands together and looked down at the ground "Brice and I... I guess you could say we broke up and... Im heart broken... I thought.. I might have.. loved him but i guess i didnt and i guess he didnt feel the same. I should have kept walking when we bumped into each other." She said and ran her hands over her face. Sarah sighed and pulled her daughter closer "If you really feel this way then you have to get him back, you got to fight for what you want babygirl not sit on the side and watch as someone else gets it." She said rubbing her shoulder. Sarah kissed her temple and stood going back into the house leaving Copeland in her thoughts and silence

Brice felt his phone vibrate a couple of times. He hiked an eyebrow in curiosity, or maybe surprise. He moved the snake from one arm to the other before reaching into his pocket. He used his thumb to press a few things before his expressions seemed to perk. Mostly, his surprise was due to the fact that she actually texted back. He should have expected that, though. She wasn't a silent girl. That was one of the things he liked about her. He casually closed the text and began texting a couple of his friends for something to do.

He was only waiting. A week or so and then he'd try again. He suspected she needed time to sort things out. So far, any talking to her wasn't working... and pestering her would seem like begging... which would work against his case. Yes, his head was clear now, he was doing things the Brice way again. The only thing he still couldn't seem to figure out was 'Why?'

After a few angonizing minutes of debating with her sister, Copeland found herself with her sister in the mall with their dads credit card. He said "Have fun but not too much." When he dropped the girls off. As Ashlynn looked for clothes for her date, Copeland numbly followed. Copeland wore basketball shorts, sandals and a baggy tshirt and her sister wore one of her usual girly outfits. "Cope... You need new clothes and i know these arent your style but maybe they could be if you gave them a chance." Ashlynn spoke then smiled at her little sister, "Oh Copeland... The best way to get over someone is to get under someone new, and i dont mean that in the dirty way. Maybe you should give Steven a chance." She suggested looking at a cute blouse then putting it back. Copeland chuckled and shook her head "Youre so weird." She said and bumped her sisters hip

It didn't take long for Jason and Donny to come knocking on Brice's door.

"Coming!" Brice called down the stairs, his mother pausing to look at him just as she was going to open the door then shrugged and went back to her own business. "I got it." He trotted down the stairs and opened the door. "Heeey guys."

"Hey!" They greeted simultaneously with wide smiles.

"You guys want anything before we head out?"

"Nah, nah - let's just go," Donny nodded back toward his car.

"Alright." Brice slipped on his shoes, patted himself down for his wallet, and headed out with them.

"Now, since you didn't answer our texts, you can tell us on our trip all about what happened." Jason said as they got in the car.

Brice scoffed. "I don't think so. It doesn't matter, guys. Let's just get to the mall and check out some girls."

"See, this is why we keep you around Brice." Donny laughed.

"Broads and books, guys. Broads and books."

All the guys laughed at once until it faded into silence.

"Hey, Brice," Jason started, "you sound kinda funny...what's with that?"

"Oh... Um... It just happens sometimes... My accent comes through for a while periodically. It's weird. Don't worry about it."

Jason just seemed to shrug.

They were soon at the mall, entering in through the food court. Donny pulled Brice and Jason to the side. "So, I've got a little challenge for you two... Let's see who can get the most numbers. The guy with the least buys lunch."

Brice hiked an eyebrow. "Donny... I don't chase girls. They come to me."

"Then either you're buying all of us lunch or you better get your hook and bait out."

They all chuckled before making the challenge a deal and starting out toward the rest of the mall together, making their way through the food court.
