Firefly snorted as she felt the bristles of the rope rub against her ears. She then felt it on her muzzle and then her neck before it tightened. The lasso had actually gone around her neck! The mare stopped in surprise and looked down at the rope with a mixture of anger and fear. She stared at it for a few more seconds before she went into a frenzy of kicks. The mare bucked and reared trying to escape his grasp and the rope's as well because it would only trip her up if she fell.

Levi nodded. "But the wild mare?" He questioned. "Shouldn't she be with a stallion, or a herd? Not alone and so close to the ranch?"

He wrapped the rope around his hand, he was prepared for anything the mare through at him. "Take it easy little lady, I'm not going to hurt you."

She started to relax as the stinging started to go down.

Firefly thrashing came to an abrupt halt at his words. She snorted at him and pawed the ground in agitation, her hooves clattering on the floor of the stables. The mare tugged at the rope by backing up until it was taut and tossing her head back. She bared her teeth slightly at Brad when he didn't relent and stared at him, breathing heavily.

He held onto the rope, not wanting to let it go and have a chance of the horse running off. "You will be safe here, no one will hurt you."

Firefly finally relented. The mare seemed to believe that if he believed she wouldn't act up anymore, then he would be caught of guard when she took off. She finally stopped and looked at him, her ears now laid back in relaxation. She snorted softly as her chest heaved with her previous struggles and she drew in air while watching Brad with her brown eyes.

He smiled, "that's a good girl. Now here is the problem, how do I get you moved to a safe area? The best place for you to go is the round pen, but I doubt you will walk with me."

Firefly snorted at him and stretched out her muzzle slightly. She sniffed him, drawing in his scent. The sharp smell caused her to shake her head as she wasn't used to it. The mare looked at Brad, waiting for him to do something. She couldn't possibly stay her in the barn with a rope around her neck all day. It wouldn't make any sense either.

He chuckled, "okay girl lets see what happens." He started walking towards the round pen, hoping the mare would follow him. "Once I get you put up, I will get you some water and some grain."
