Levos could feel himself on the brink of anger, how could an elf turn on their own, a much needed warrior mentally fragile (to his own dismay) or not they needed more protecting the weak against the raging inferno that Verbroné attacks them with. Levos listened angrily to her joyous words that came out of her slim, vulgar mouth and watched in frustration and anger as she walked away.

What made him really boil is the fact that she walked away with such confidence, a confidence that would get her killed in the human world and in his kingdom. Levos released his arms from behind his back and extending his right arm he let his power surge forward and out of the stone and marble ground sprouted long vines. Four vines grasped her legs and ankles, two for each leg and another six sprouted with deadly precision and speed and grasped her waist and arms holding them out and apart.

His vines and power was strong, strongest in the land you could say but Levos didn't like to brag, he just didn't like others bragging or having the confidence of which is around idiotic level. Levos strode forward, his steps and strides filled with purpose and a unknowledgeable anger. "How dare you speak to me and present yourself in such a way in this room!" he shouted with a mighty voice that echoed around the rooms causing the walls to shake.

"You are a disrespectful, young, and extremely foolish elfling with no, no sense of when you are about to get yourself killed!" he was now close to the she-elf but not close enough for contact. His anger was fueled by the wildness of his power and the nature itself began to groan and shriek (in it's strange way) in anger and fury.

Vines, poisonous flowers, roots, snakes, predatory birds and other fauna and flora exploded in the room lining the ceiling, walls and floor with its mass and destruction. Levos knew his guards could hear but he also knew they would dare not to enter when he was in such a state, he was a force to be reckoned with, he was like a serpent or a dragon when they've been angered or awoken, nothing would stop him from what he was and is capable of.

Faelyn limped beside Aria as she helped her walk to where Aria treated people's wounds. She looked to her right and saw the queen standing peacefully next to her. Faelyn felt herself straighten up as best as possible ignoring the shooting pain but then slumped against Aria slightly before limping their way to the outer edge of the castle walls. Faelyn lowered herself slowly onto the cot and rested her head against the soft pillow she felt tired, she looked to Aria as she said to stay here for an hour until the wounds healed. Faelyn sighed annoyed at the fact she couldn't help or do anything, she looked to the Queen and heard as she spoke. "Were you planning to attack a main village?" she asked moving to sit upright but then decided not to move as she felt a splitting pain in her injured shoulder and chest. Faelyn was glad she had Aria healing and helping her, she was an old friend and probably Faelyn's only real friend either than her warriors and guards that weren't really friends.

❀--Aria Mier
elf ❀ healer ❀ water ❀ Faelyn; Queen Lauriel
_________________________________________________________

Aria dropped the teacup she had busied herself with a shattering clang at the mention of the attack. This is surely not the answer, she thought as she quickly stopped to sweep up the pieces. We cannot do this! Standing up and brushing out the wrinkles in her silky gown, Aria placed the shards on her worktop and walked over to the queen and Faelyn. She sat on the other side of Faelyn's cot, watching the queen. She absentmindedly handed the fire elf a concoction of poppy and feverfew to soothe the pain caused by her injuries. However, Aria's attention was mostly focused on the queen. "No disrespect, my queen, but an attack on the main village would cause nothing but more pain."

Aria didn't want to been seen in any way as confrontational, but she felt that she must do something to prevent another wave of death so soon after this devastating one. "Let each side tike time to recover; they are already angered by an unprovoked attack on their garrison, but an attack on innocent citizens of Verbroné? We must hold back. It is cruel not to, and not just for them." Aria's voice had risen slightly, and her hands were shaking. Despite knowing that it was in no way her place to challenge these decisions, she somehow felt that Faelyn would back her. The captain had seen first hand how bloody this war was becoming, and needling it to the point of attacking women and children rather than soldiers was not what either faction needed at this point. Aria hoped desperately the queen could understand this.

For a moment, Aria thought bak to what the princess had told her in the forest earlier. I want her to treat me like someone who can take care of themselves, Ara had said. The rulers of Cymbiir needed to stop treating the country like a child. Sure, they had the best interest of their people at heart, but, much like a rebellious teenager, they were not giving it the chance to exhaust itself in order to learn a lesson. Aria was certain that no one in Cymbiir wanted to go to war. No mother wanted their sons and daughters to risk their life for a conflict no one really understood. And yet, Aria could not place her finger on the real villain. It seemed Lauriel and Levos were preconditioned to see Verbroné as the enemy...was it that way in Verbroné as well? A tear slid down Aria's cheek as she thought of all of the victims of a war that seemed to have no end.

➸--Raoden Marx
human ➸ captain of the guard ➸ open
_________________________________________________________

Raoden turned away from the gathering crowd of soldiers, disgusted with the actions of his men. He felt sick at the notion that he had to betray even one of them, despite how they had disappointed him. They were only acting in the best interest of Verbroné. But then, isn't Elyana? a small voice whispered in his ear. He shrugged it away almost immediately. Elyana was asking him to trick, to lie. If he was going to win this war, he'd much rather win it in a way that wouldn't dishonor his entire moral code. And who said there was ever going to even be a winner? Everything seemed so distant, so hopeless in the carnage of the day's battle. Raoden just needed to get away from it all. Not for forever, but at least for a few hours. He needed time to clear his head, to think about what was to come, and how to deal with Elyana's instructions without losing his head.

"In the future, I expect all orders of mine to be followed," he growled, his eyes narrowed. He just couldn't deal with this right now. Storming away to the stables, Raoden grabbed Dusk's reigns and led him out into the garrison, where he mounted the grey stallion. "I'll be back before moonrise. I want the garrison cleaned and walls repaired. I expect courtesy to be shown to the dead," he said, pausing for a moment to look around at all of his men. "Even those from the opposite side. Jason will watch and report when I return." He nodded to the artillator and spurred Dusk towards the gates.

Upon reaching the road, Raoden paused, looking down both paths. One led up to the palace, and up into the surrounding villages. He was sure their were taverns that way where a lonely man could drown his sorrows, and many women waiting to dote upon the captain of the guard. But the other path led out into the woods, where the trees and the beasts lived and breathed together as one entity. A silence settled over the woods, the loudest silence in all of the land. A silence filled with melodious birdsong and the cries of wolves. A truly depressed man would head for the tavern. But Raoden wasn't depressed yet; he was just hopeless. And so, he turned right, towards the treeline as the sun began to set over the horizon.

The path into the forest slowly diminished with the increase of trees, and soon, Raoden had to tie Dusk's rope to a branch and continue on foot. He didn't know exactly what he was looking for, or what he would do when he found it, but he knew that with each step, some of his anger and resentment left him. He could hear in the distance the sound of a rapidly rushing river, and thought of the elf kingdom that lie somewhere beyond. The path he walked was thick with hoof prints, where the elves in their retreat had somehow manipulated the trees to accommodate such a throng of steeds. Blood also littered the forest floor, making Raoden remember his stress. Had we really caused such injury? he thought, kneeling to look at the crimson agains the green leaves. As he continued deeper into the wood, he came across the river. On the other side was surely the first few meters of Cymbiir territory. Sitting with his back against a tree, he watched, thinking of the elves he had met briefly at the battle, and how they were coping with their injuries.

After a moment, his mind wandered strangely to the girl with the wolf. Elwen...had that been her name? She had been desperately trying to get them not to return her to her kind. Raoden wondered if they had spared her life. It was strange, thinking of the elves as though they also had a kingdom and organized society. Elyana had always made it seem as though they lived in caves like wolves themselves. But surely Elwen had a family. A man who loved her. Surely they would not want to lose her, just because of a mistake and a wish to help. Raoden thought about it, clasping his hands together and staring at the foaming water.

ELWEN LUNA
elven warrior - 50+ - Nature magic
Palace - with King Levos

Elwen was almost certain that she was a walking corpse. The vines didn't seem to bother her, and the nature made her smirk to the king. "I am no longer under your control. You are not my king." The girl snarled, and at that moment, vines started to form on the walls, overlapping the ones that were already there. They came towards her, from all sides, and her eyes still showed no emotion. Her pale green eyes showed her acceptance for this punishment. All emotion wiped from her face, she placed her armed and hands behind her back, standing up straight, feeling the vines around her. "All I would like to do... Is leave, get out of this palace, and this woodland. I will leave immediately, so do whatever you want, but I'll just be leaving anyway." The girl used her manipulation, tilting her head gently and looking at him gently, but deadly. The small girl then flicked her hair back, and her body showed respect for the power. Shifting back to his opinion of her traits, she smirked and chuckled with anger "I may be young, and reckless, yes. But I am only disrespectful to the ones who don't treat me like they would like to see actual respect." Her hiss was one where she stayed calm.

Queen Lauriel

Lauriel looked back from the window when Faelyn spoke, and replied. "No, not a major city. A small, but wealthy town that could be easily taken. After this attack, it is even more important, because Verbronė must learn that we are not to be taken lightly." At her words, Aria dropped a teacup and the Queen knew that the young healer wouldn't like the idea of a battle so soon. She listioned to her words, filled with upset, and then spoke calmly. "We will give our soldiers time to recover before the attack, of course. But it will not look like sympathy to Verbronė if we fail to go on with the attack, it will look like weakness." The Queen fixed her blue gaze on Aria, hoping she would see the truth in her words. "If we do not attack, Verbronė will only launch a stronger attack, and harm more of our citizens. Eather decision will cause death and destruction, eather for our people or theirs."

At that moment, Levos barely listened to the girl even as she hissed, snarled and said rather rude statements towards him (one of which referring to Levos never being her king) the elf had other plans with this foolish girl. Moving closer to her he retracted the vines and stared her down, his face centimeters from hers, and he revealed long pointed teeth as he smiled at her. It was a wicked smile, one that was not to be taken lightly even as the girl shows no emotions in her actions and facial expressions.

"I will give you five minutes to escape this kingdom before I release some of my men to kill you." he said in a calm and almost seemigly gentle and kind voice. Although he had retracted the vines from her body, he hadn't released the ones on her ankles, the reason for this is the fact he had not finished talking to her. "You are now, Elwen Luna, considered a threat to this kingdom and those who live here..." he spoke low and darkly, all the niceness escaping his tone and the coldness of steel creeping in, as he paused he retracted the last of the vines off her body and back into the ground, leaving no mark on the girl or the area, "Leave now before I kill you myself," and with that he walked away from her, his strides long and rhythmic as he made his way towards the base of the staircase. In his head Levos counted the seconds, the minutes (five to be precise) before he released his own personal guards; Woodland folk, Warriors of the trees.

Levos grabbed the hem of his gown and proceeded up the steps, he was tired, tired of this battle tired of this stupid elven girl that had been arguing with him, and especially tired of having to protect foolishness that runs in the blood of some. At that point he wondered were his daughter was at. She resembled him in his young 100 or more years; reckless, not wanting to follow rules and to help others. He smiled at the thought, a rare moment for Levos at this time of struggle. He looked up from where he was staring and looked to his guards waving his hand and whistling a long sharp whistle. "Find her and loose her." and that was all he said when a loud roar and shake rocked the ground as the Warriors of the trees awoke.

Faelyn jumped and sat upright as Aria dropped the teacup and then shot up out of her seat. She could tell there was something bothering her friend and she could tell the scenes of today and what the Queen has just told her had affected her in a sad way. Faelyn shifted slightly, ignoring the pain telling her to stop moving and grabbed the teacup that Aria gave to her, taking it gently in her callused and bruised hands.

She held it to her lips and listened to both sides of this political quarrel, taking a small sip from the concoction, Faelyn gently rested it in her lap feeling the poppy and feverfew run through her body soothing the pain that was spreading like wildfire. She listened to Aria as she spoke, and understood the meanings to her words. Both sides had and are suffering from this war and the bloodshed is unbearable at the worst and best of times. She could read the thoughts and feelings on Aria's face and now could see that Aria was deciding who the real villain was in this bloody war game.

Honestly, Faelyn didn't know either but had to follow orders when given (even though she normally changes it up a bit and doesn't follow them exactly) some of the orders are horrific and inhumane even for her but sometimes they are needed. But right now, Faelyn couldn't see the point in another attack. She had nearly died going against one of their own. Elwen and her stupid wolf. Shaking her head she knew they should of left her in Verbroné but the king would never leave their own to be tortured as such.

Then queen Lauriel spoke, her words were soft and calm she spoke of reason to do this and to be honest, Faelyn knew the reason was quite acceptable and realistic. Keeping her face blank and neutral (as best she could) she spoke, "The plan is reasonable, but I will not slaughter the innocent lives of others, taking hostages and keeping them in kinder conditions is what I will do but no slaughter." she spoke with rather an authoritative tone and knew that was risky but she wasn't to going to kill others for revenge. "Two wrongs don't make a right," whispered Faelyn, only so Aria could hear.

King of Vebrone

Warmth spread through Henri as his queen took his arm and leaned against him. Oh, had he missed her. She was always so busy these days. He was busy pretending to be busy, so that no one would bother him. Left to himself, he would rather sit alone reading Shakespeare than interact with other humans. Elyana was the only exception to that rule. She was more beautiful than a sonnet, and had more quality than any exquisitely written iambic pentameter. She was his everything. He knew she wasn't perfect, but, to him, her flaws were just as radiant as every other part of her. Without them, she wouldn't be her, and that would be unthinkable.

Her sarcastic tone caused a grin to tug at his lips. "Of course. It's slightly less charming when you're roaring at me." He couldn't hold back his grin, and it spread across his face, giving him a boyish aura. He chuckled softly, and for a moment one could forget he was king. This side of himself was one of Henri's best kept secrets. It only came out around people he implicitly trusted, and that list was less of a list, and more of one name. Elyana. Perhaps he was too dependent on his lover. She was his gateway to the world, and without her, he had become more and more withdrawn. As she continued, his grin only widened. Of course they were incompetent. She was almost always right, at least in matters of war. "Personally, I have been having a lovely day immersed in reading. However, it has been rather lacking in daylight." He smiled down at her, making his meaning clear. She was his light, bright and strong. Sometimes so bright that he faded into the background. But he didn't mind. As long as Elyana was brilliant, he was content to be overlooked. His grin returned, and his eyes sparkled, as if they were doing something illegal. "Come, my Love. The world won't crumble without us. The gardens are lovely this time of year."

age: twenty eight years

She couldn't help it. With Henri's compliment, Elyana leaned closer to her husband, resting her head on his shoulder. Just his company was enough to warm her to a somewhat normal degree of fondness for those around her - which, actually, was normally just him - and she was grateful for his presence as the war progressed. If he had not been there every night, to just sit with, or to hold her when her reoccurring nightmares graced her with their presence, Elyana knew for a fact that she would probably have broken so violently that her kingdom would no longer exist, for the elves would surely have taken advantage of a weakened kingdom with an unfit ruler. "We best get you into the sunlight then," she replied, breathing his scent in deeply through her nose, allowing it to wrap around her and calm her even further, "or else you shall waste away like a poor flower." Sometimes Elyana wished that their relationship was more of the typical one, so that she could spend the days like the queens before her had, singing and dancing and reciting poetry. But that was not who she was, and she would make the most of the spare time she was given.

It had been a long while since she had been out in the gardens. She had been found there often in the past summers, especially when she was still getting over Petyr's death. Her poor cousin, cut down before he was old enough to defend himself like a man. In those days, looking at the gardens, being surrounded by the peace and quiet of nature had been enough to remind her of the good in the world, though her hatred had grown and grown under her skin. Now she seldom had time to enjoy the simpler things in life, and to enjoy them with her husband would be the highlight of her day. Most nights they did not speak other than to wish the other a good night. They slowly made their way around the passages of their home, until they emerged at the great oak doors and Elyana all but dragged Henri out in her haste to feel the breeze on her skin, miles away from the bloodshed and her responsibilities. The woman's eyes fell on the red camellias nearby and she plucked one carefully, handing it to her partner with a small smile. "Remind me: do you know the flower language?" The forget-me-nots were her favourites.

ELWEN LUNA
elven warrior - 50+ - Nature magic
Palace - with King Levos

'finally, I'm free' Standing tall, Elwen ran at top speed, out of the room and bolting out to the courtyards,
where many stood in her way. To her left and right, guards ran for her, yelling for her to stop and accept her fate. The
smaller girl smirked, still running. Seeing the crowd, she threw the ones that were in her way to the sides of her. Many did
fall off their footing. Elwen ran faster as she noticed how far she had, looking back to see how close the pursuing guards
were. Dodging grabs form guards that cut her off, she started to slam some to the ground, seeing them out of breath.
Wincing at the air that hit her face, Elwen threw herself to go faster. Running through everything and pushing things out
of her way, she finally made it out of the courtyard and near the stables.

She arrived at the stables, growling at herself. A sharp whistle was what she used to call Ballad, bare backed. Touching the
ground in front of her, she sent the earth flying in front of the guards, making a large wall they couldn't pass. Quickly she
mounted and kicked the large horse as he went at full speed out of the kingdom. "I don't care where you go Ballad, just get
us out of here." Elwen said it softly and calmly to the horse, turning around on the horse's back to shoot and aim for the
many guards who still pursued her. As they all halted, she smirked, seeing where she was going "The human woodlands? Why?"
The elven warrior said to Ballad, who grumbled a argument at her. "Very well.." She said as she turned back around, and
rode the rest of the way bareback.

They had made it out, Elwen smiled and patted Ballad's neck as he ran slower, now falling to a slow walk. The two came
behind the large thicket where Ballad warned Elwen of the human who'd killed Drago. Her glare was now toxic as she
quietly dismounted. The intelligent girl hid behind the thicket as she told Ballad to pretend to be lost and wild, the horse
agreed and walked in front of Raoden, rearing up. Elwen took the chance to prep herself, and readied poisons daggers in
her hands. She watched him use the water, and rose her chin as she silently snuck behind Raoden, calming Ballad. She
simply nodded to her own horse and came up behind Raoden, one dagger on his throat, the other on the back of his neck.
"I would advise not to move." The girl said calmly, not saying another word as she adjusted her stance and the dagger's
positions.

Henri smiled, happily walking into the sunlight with Elyana. It was nice, after so long in the castle. It got a bit stuffy in there. The beauty of the garden and the joy of having his queen with him was almost too much for his heart to bear. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't restrain his grin. He simply let it be. They changed each other, his queen and him. They became better versions of themselves when they were together, and it was truly beautiful. As Elyana handed him the red camellias, he smiled. "Of course." he said softly, picking a single, pristine white camellia that was growing nearby. His smile softened, the light in his eyes dulling to a soft glow as he gently tucked the flower behind Elyana's ear. "I love you, Elyana." He whispered as he leaned in to kiss her gently. The flowering trees above them filtered the sunlight into spotted patterns, only adding magic to the moment. His fingers gently cradled her jaw, drawing them closer. After a while, he pulled back. "I know I don't say that often enough."
