@Luzien: EMS, as in equine metabolic syndrome(had to google ^^')? Yes thisIf so then, oh my... That sounds like pretty sudden and very serious reaction. :c I've only heard people with horses that have EMS, complain about the weight/feeding issues(about the crazy manic sugar avoiding mostly) and the proneness to laminitis. sugar she never did got,she also did not got fat depositions like most, only her neck was a bit heavier neck crest, some swelling under the head and on the nose, so it did not look like most Pictures...then the Trouble with Walking or Standing, the hurting hoove and leg and from this wrong standing her back hurt too....and yes she gets no more grain feed even not when Training then she gets a carrot and herbs, not much on apples, i would love to give her some treats but ist nearly impossible to find sugar free grainless treats without the other things they should not eat.... some use soja bits(like vegetarian eat^^), but to wash the hay to get sugar out i think is grazy or difficult for outside horses(only for those living in a cozy warm stall) because of the bacteria that sit on it after a short time and when ist cold ist frozen over....so they get hay-net over the hay for the dayBut your poor girl sounds like she had it really hard. Which makes it even more significant that she's doing much better now. c:Yes that i fing too, but there are horses who got it worse and other who did got cushing to the laminitis...so i knock on Wood and say that im happy ist not so bad only bad ...and im happy that she really Looks bether and loves to walk againThe only thing that comes to my mind from swelling on the head area is that one really nasty super contagious disease, which I have no clue what it is in english... ^^' Sort of like flu, but nastier and really easily spreads around. But reaction to the herbs might be more likely reason...oh my no, nothing contagious...it looked more like she was stung by some insect or snake bite
As for the hooves. I'd try get her front hooves x-rayed in case there's rotation of the coffin bones from the possible laminitis. As if there's rotation that has to be taken into consideration with the trimming.yes as she had Trouble Standing we did not do it, then it was the time and then storm-crazy rain and snow...terrible to travel with Trailer, and the clinic does not really do mobile x-ray and the vet who does is over the head with Clients for next months...so as soon as streets are clear we want to go to the clinic. I had to google that hoof armor thing and it seems it's just a product used to protect the sole of the hoof, not really the sides/hoofwall which would still wear down in use. Hoof boots might be best option out of those. As glue shoes are bit uncovenient imo. There was one lady advertising some supposibly shock absorbing glue shoes, which were basically iron shoe covered with some sort of rubber. They cost like 100 euros a pair and didn't last has long as the iron shoes(so more frenquent shoings were needed), nor could you really re-use them(like normal iron shoes can sometimes last few shoings, or even whole winter if you mainly ride on snow). Is there some reason why you don't want normal shoes?i dont want to use normal shoes till hooves are really bether, and even bevor she rarely had shoes,so i like to Keep her as long as possible without nails in the hoove, so i want to try other things^^
My first physio(provided by the hospital) gave me pretty simple exercises to do, but they seem to work fine so far. And considering I can't lift my arm totally straight up yet without feeling slight pain and resistance, I'm good with those. XP I literally can't swim, so none of that. XD I think he said swimming would be good, after I got the moving range back to more normal state, and apparently water running might be good for me. : P The second physio I saw(on Friday), actually gave me some fascial massage(same thing that was done to Heta when her back was really bad actually) and turns out I had some really really really tight muscles on the shoulder area, especially the ones going to chest and neck. And man, that massage seriously helped, as one really annoyingly tight muscle/tendon on my neck went to totally normal over night and one area that's been odd feels much more normal now. I'm seeing another physio(from same place as the last one) on next Thursday and then we are focusing on my back more. ^^that is great that they did help you, that you can move easyersome more of them and some of Pilates will do also do good as bevor

Tý will be forever baby face, like his mommy(and apparently human mom as well XD). <3icelandic horses are often cute like this....fluffy Babys all life...thats one thing thats great in them![]()
Yup, we still have little snow, amazing even after the rain and warmth. But luckily it's currently snowing some more. :3 Mom said it's supposed to snow about 10cm during the night/tomorrow.
[maybe have a look at this : color=#FF0000][http://www.equinews.com/article/principles-of-bone-development-in-horses1/color],maybe this too http://americashorsedaily.com/foal-growth/#.VMNfTe85CPw , and this http://www.webertrainingstables.com/riding-young" 3-4 years generally is decent age to start backing a horse, any younger I wouldn't start ANY horse(not even a TB). But still I avoid major work with most horses until 5-6 years. Few can be mature(mentally and physically) enough to be worked more earlier on, but if the horse is your average youngster, then there's no real reason to it. You don't rush in the beginning and you have a healthy horse for long time to ride. c;"

spring. wrote:Hi guys!
I am getting ready to go to a lesson today. I'll be riding my little bay mare as usual, although she isn't really mine.
I'm having a birthday party for Belle Mer today. It's her actual foaling date, and I really wanted her to be around for it but my trainer sold her. :-/
So, I will be posting pictures of her cake later today. I will be posted them on Instagram, Facebook, everywhere. It's really exciting. My friend wanted to come over today for her party, but she will just celebrate tomorrow. I don't have a problem with that so hopefully that will go well.
In case you guys couldn't tell, I miss this horse like crazy. You guys should all wish her a happy birthday too, lol. <3
