October crouched down to Millard's level, back making a sickening crack in the process. "Go with your Aunt," She whispered, "Get more dogs to relive all of our good times."

Peacorn

Peacorn lay there like a slug. He was good at that. Visions of Millard's teenage years and cindy wafted into his unconscious mind.

Millard

Millard blinked. A woman's face was floating before him, circling and fading like something from a 60s music video. "I like dogs too," he slurred. "What a coincidence!"

The woman nodded. She had won. She stood, pulling Millard up with him. She stepped over the unconscious Peacorn, making sure to squish his protruding earlobe in the process. She headed outside, still holding Millard's arm.

Millard

"Are we going to the zoo, Mom?" he said, stumbling along like an alcoholic in the rain. He tried to look up at the woman swimming before his eyes. She sprouted a dog head and woofed at him. He grinned appreciatively. "Me too," he agreed.

The rad haired woman ignored the creature she was dragging along behind her and climbed into her car. She pet the seat beside her, "Let's go to the pet store, Millard."

Peacorn

Peacorn woke up. He didn't know how long he had laid there. Hours, days, weeks, months? He felt his balding head. He still had a few tufts of hair. No more than a few days. His voices told him a few lifetimes.

Millard

"Will they have dogs there?" said Millard. He loved dogs. Guido took this moment to remind him that all animals that came into his presence wilted like flowers exposed to extreme levels of radiation. Millard reminded Guido he was short. Guido sniffed, injured.

October nodded as she started the car, "Yes Millard, lots of dogs." She pulled out of the yard, praying that Peacorn wouldn't come to until they were long gone. She headed down the street, running over a small toy. She speed through a stop sign and never looked back.

Millard

Millard nearly nodded off in the silky smooth front seat of Aunt October's shimmering convertible. He ran his fingers over the leather. "Hey, where'd you get the money for this, anyway? I thought you were living off the government."
Suddenly the car bumped and something squealed. It sounded ominous. Millard nearly went into a fit of post traumatic stress.
