Body still, only her bright blue eyes were moving. The cold water no longer bothered her as it flowed past her legs. Rather, it felt refreshing now and was merely a passing sensation she no longer paid attention to. No. Now, she concentrated on what lay in the river water. It had taken nearly all morning, but her patience had finally won out. Now fish were slowly beginning to trickle past the unfamiliar object in their path. Some even lingered in her shadow or nibbled at her fur for food. It was near perfect. All she had to do was wait for the right fish and the right opportunity. Which couldn't come soon enough in her opinion. Standing still wasn't very entertaining, nor was it very comfortable. And staring at these fish it was starting to seem like they were taunting her more and more...
Finally her eyes lit upon a larger fish among the rest. Ears pricking, she swallowed her initial reaction of excitement. It wouldn't do to startle the fish away with even the softest of growls or flick of her tail. Not after all her hard work to gain their trust and draw them in. As it drew closer, Aislynn tracked its movement with her eyes. She had learned in her travels and through trial-and-error the better ways to fish. And the way to get the most results - that is, the most fish - was to aim for the spot the fish would be in the next second. You had to know where the fish was going to go before even it did.
A second later, she lunged forward. With a great splash, she found herself nose-first under the water. But after a brief struggle, she rose again to a stand. Though her pelt was dripping wet, the earthen-colored female seemed proud. In her claws lay a bleeding, fish, barely struggling in her grasp. The other fish had long since fled into the current as soon as she had moved and breached the surface of the water. Wading back to the bank, she set the fish in the grass so that she could shake her coat out before she would eat. There was no way that she could sit comfortably and eat with her pelt sopping wet.

Eyes slitting open, only a hint of red peeked out. With a growl, the monochromatic Rukami closed her eyes again. The morning was still young, so the female saw no reason to yet get up. Her tribe mates were not doing anything. They didn't need her to babysit them every waking minute, which is why she found herself on the edge of her territory. She was resting after a long hunt the night before. The shade of the trees was nice now that the sun was higher in the sky; and the shrubbery around her and her kill helped to deter most other predators. Of course, that would likely only last for so long. Something would come along, smelling her fresh kill from over the night and looking for an easy meal or to investigate.
However, with no sight, scent, or sound of anything approaching, Saoirse didn't much care to get up at the moment. Tail flicking away lingering flies, she sighed, closed her eyes, and lowered her head once more. With the sunlight dappling her coat, one could easily see the small, fresh wounds littering her coat. It was from the latest round of training and conditioning of her subordinates that was healing. It no longer bothered the female. Hadn't for years. Which was probably why she had been appointed lead warrior of the tribe. But today, she was leaving her warriors to themselves. She had grown tired of the dominance games and competitions and needed a break from it all. To just feel the wind through her fur as she hunted. To just be wild, free,
alone.

There was plenty to eat in the pack that morning. At least for the time being. So there was no need to hunt while the sun was still making its ascent into the sky.
Perhaps once it reaches its zenith in the sky I will, the large white male thought. He didn't pause in his step as he wove around trees and shrubbery alike. Though there was no well worn path, it was as though he knew where he were going. And Kamau did. He lived in this territory. Even if he hadn't grown up in it, he still knew the best tracks to take for patrols and the paths that prey were most likely to take. Perhaps it was for this reason that he was able to get away with going on solitary patrols so often. Or why he'd learned them in the first place...
Snorting to himself, Kamau continued at his loping pace. He kept his wits about him, senses on alert. Though there hadn't been any scraps along their borders, that didn't mean it was time to relax. The neighboring tribe was still very much an issue. They were an aggressive lot, with a cunning leader. Definitely untrustworthy. Though the albino wasn't walking on pins and needles, he definitely wasn't planning on letting his guard down. Not for quite some time.

Ears half folded back, a figure with a red-rust-orange pelt dozed beneath the shade of some trees. Body relaxed as he lay stretched out in the sun-dappled grass, the male appeared completely carefree. His twin tails twitched occasionally in the emerald grass; sometimes they would swish through the cool flora, sometimes against his fur. Today it was a lazy day of sorts. Isoba didn't feel much like doing anything that morning. He'd scented the plethora of other Rukami on the breeze, had passed several tribe borders. He had no interest in feuding with any of them. Many would be on the hunt for food early in the day, before it grew hotter.
Personally, the violet-eyed male didn't mind hunting in the morning either. However, he preferred doing it at dusk and dawn. Though the prey was more skittish, it made for better hunting conditions in his mind. Less 'kamis were out, the temperature cooled, and herds were less likely to cover large area for lack of decent night vision. That and he liked the challenge the more easily startled prey presented. The cover of semi-darkness heightened the senses and made one feel alive as blood roared through the veins and the suns flames painted the sky in an array of colors. It was a greater experience than hunting solely at night or during the day.
So for now, Isoba would remain content to just relax. Lazing about almost cat-like amidst the roots of the trees...

Humming, Hikaru closed her eyes against the light breeze. It wasn't that the gentle wind disturbed her in any way. Rather, she wanted to enjoy the full sensation of it rasping lightly through her pelt. She had been enjoying the birdsong, alongside the chirruping of insects. To others, it may have seemed like normal sounds of of the forest - and they were. But to Hikaru, they were also a melodic chorus of life. The breeze rustling through the canopy and undergrowth only added harmonies to the life songs of the creatures within the forest, making the golden female all the more content.
The female continued to sit on her haunches, her muzzle tilted toward the sky. Occasionally a soft note would pour from her throat, gentle and rumbling, to add her voice to the sounds of the forest around her. Otherwise, she was more than happy to enjoy her day of rest. A pile of berries rested by her tail, which curled around her hind legs. She had gathered them before the sun could rise, knowing that as soon as the glowing orb rose, so too would other animals. And she didn't want to miss out on her chance to indulge on the morning songs of the animals by her current den site. They had grown accustomed to her and no longer quieted when she was around, used to the odd sense of magical presence which faintly emanated from her.
