My boys took a while to figure out the upper levels of their cages (both their first cage and the double critter nation). They'll figure it out in time :) Just make sure you have food and water on the levels they have already figured out (I actually have two water bottles on my cage, one on the bottom and on the upper most level).

I spent about 3 hours on their first cage, the majority of that being covering the wire shelves and decorating it, and waaaay longer setting the DCN up, that took ages, haha.

Cage looks great, though!

So now you have North and Zander, right? Just going to warn you (though I'm sure you've considered it), if they were in the same bin and one of them seemed ill, you'll want to keep a very close eye on these two. Take note of breathing, water and food intake, defecation and urination, etc. It's likely worth a visit to the closest exotic vet just to have them checked up and have their lungs listened to, and weight checked.

I have North, Zander, and Kiwi still, too.
He completely perked up the next day and became curious, friendly, interested in things, and his poop is normal as well. So I believe it was just a stress thing.

Zander will take Kiwi or Norths tail in his jaws (or paws) and pull, then they will start to play fight (im assuming it's play fighting, sine there aren't any screeches or anything).... Is this normal?

Oh, good! I'm glad he's alright :)

That sounds like playing, haha. Fighting is usually pretty obvious- stair-offs, screaming, hissing, fur all poofed up, and they'll strike at each other's rump. Messing with tail/belly/etc is just playing.

Awesome! Do you know what colors or fur types yet?

Oh, good to know!
I went upstairs and helped them figure out the water, and the other tiers, now they won't stop running up and down, top to bottom!

It occured to me I hardly ever take pictures of my dwarf ham, so I decided to put that right.
Little guy's starting to show his age...

I'm glad everything worked out for you and your rats CaptainMarvel! Things have been going good with me and Lazarus too!
I posted before about him when I first got him with drinking concerns, but that gladly cleared up; he was gnawing on the dispenser when he realised there was water coming out of one end and experimented with it, and I've seen him use it frequently since, meaning I confidently removed the dish from his cage - much preferred!
As a backup arrangement until he's tame and transporting him will be easier, we cleaned (me and my mum, ahh gotta love parents) his cage with him in his ball yesterday! For those of you concerned, he's been here a week now and is comfortably settled, and I'm starting to tame him. So as excersize, I offered the ball to him today and he climbed right in without hesitation. He ran around for 25min and even when I put him back he was begging at the door <3.
Who am I to deny such a cutie attention?
So naturally I figured it would be a good time to offer treats, and laid my palm flat in the cage with carrot in the middle... and after a pause he hopped on comfortably and snuffled up my sleeve, and managed to wriggle through onto the desk (with a not so nice fall). He really took me by surprise. Not only did I honestly believe he would take longer to warm up to me, but I had hoped we'd do that somewhere a little safer. He's just daring for trouble >.<.

I really didn't realise we'd come this far that he would be exploring my arm and sitting on my hand? ?.. Gahh I'm so proud of him <3

Agouti has nothing to do with a cream belly? Agouti is a color not a marking.

Banchee is a agouti masked, his belly is in no way cream.:

Anyways, I've got a lot of pictures to share with y'all! Just gotta take the time to upload them!

Agouti is indeed a colour and not a marking however agouti self's don't have the ticked colouring all over, they either have a cream or pale belly ;-)

Often referred to as the "wild rat" colour, Agouti rats have a ticked coat that appears to be a browny grey colour with black guard hairs, with a lighter grey belly. Agouti is a dominant colour and their coats can become a rusted brown/yellow colour.
