Was it based on a warrior, if so who? And also, why did they stop making warriors, did they not have the rights?

It is based on Brokenstar, but it was never released. The cats were nicknamed as "warrior cats", but are known as sitting cats. There are still sitting cats that are released, but none of them correlate to warrior cats.

They weren't just nicknamed warriot cats, they ARE warrior cats. Their adopt section was called "Warrior Cats" and they had their name next to them.
But yes, they had to stop releasing them due to copyrights. As far as I know there were no legal issues involved but of course they had to stop using them if they didn't have the right to use them.
The artists can still use the lineart, they just can't make more warrior cats.
They were actually renamed "Tess cats" after the regular cats were first released (hence the name of this thread) but "sitting cats" was a popular nickname and it stuck. All three names are now commonly used today =3

Do you know if they will ever have the rights to make more warriors? (I really hope so)
