Gabe stepped out of the car and looked at the sky. It was a tad bit gray, but she hoped that wouldn't last. Sighing fitfully, she took a few steps forward to the store, and looked back to find her mom struggling with the keys. "Mother!" She laughed and walked back to take the keys out of the car. "I swear, this stupid car can't do anything these days. Look, it's jammed!" Her mother replied and struggled a bit more with the keys.
Gabe bent down and easily slid the keys out from the slot as her mother got out and muttered the shopping list to herself. Already her mind is on something else. Gabe thought to herself. She kicked some pebbled away and fingered her long gray hair. Hmm, what should I dye my hair to next? Turquoise maybe? Currently, her hair was her natural color--gray. It was odd, but true. It ran int the family to have at least one person to have gray hair, it was a gene from her dad's side, who did not have gray hair, but his brother, Gabe's uncle, did. He liked keeping it short and shiny and refused to dye it. He said it was improper for a man to dye his hair. Gabe let her hair grow to her natural color because she was to tired to dye her hair before, when they found out that her dad was being transferred. It took forever to find a good neighborhood, according to her parents.
-Like 5 minutes later xD-
The girl couldn't help the grin that had replaced her small frown. She stared at all the different colors of dye and decided that yes, she was going to like living here. She searched for her favorite brand, and stopped when she found the odd colored section. She scowled when she saw that there was no turquoise, but quickly picked a violet dye instead.
Grabbing the violet, Gabe decided to get a few other colors, so that she wouldn't have to go here every week. She settled on a deep red, blonde, and a minty green. She wandered aimlessly around the store until her phone burst into song.
"If you see my f r i e n d,
doesn't m a t t e r where or when,
tell me if you see K a y."
Gabe pulled her phone out of her back pocket and clicked the 'talk' button. "Hel-loo?" She asked. "Hey, I'm at the checkout numbeeerrrr... 8. Meet me here." Her mother replied, stretching the word until she found out was number the checkout was. "Sure thing." Gabe said, shutting the phone and sliding it back into her pocket.
She had an odd relationship with her mother. It was almost sister-like, except that the close bondage was lacking. er mother didn't really try, but she acted much younger than she actually was. Her mother was very forgetful, so it was like her to leave a shoe in the kitchen, or a DVD in the bathroom. It surprised Gabe that despite that, her mother was very...talented at finding good deals and bargaining. She was a great shopper, though that seemed silly.
