Finny smiled, which was kind of rare for him to show his happiness so broadly. He flushed and looked back at the garden as she praised him--he was a modest boy, and he rarely took compliments. He scampered over to the bluebells and counted the blossoms--Nine. One too many. He picked out the bottom one, making it look even and in proportion with the other bluebells. The Duchess's praise made him feel good, and he walked back over to her, looking up and thrusting out the bluebell, smiling goofily.

Duchess Marie saw him blush and she smiled.
When he held out the bluebell to her, she bent down slightly to retrieve it from him. "Thank-you, young Finny." Marie smiled warmly. "It's lovely. I'll tell Christina to pot it at once. Would you like to come and visit Christina? I'm sure she'd like the company. Besides, the garden looks picture perfect right now. It's gorgeous. Come along." she said, taking his tiny dirt stained fingers. She'd have to wash her hands when she came into the kitchen.
