Well, she seems sincere enough. What's the harm, really? "I'm not really sure how," I say, "But after we went wherever we went and did whatever we did, I got amnesia. I can't remember anything from the past nine years or so. I get feelings sometimes, like when I saw you, but for the most part, it's a blur."

Danasi leaned against the wall. "Amnesia... Well that would certainly explain the change in attitude. I'm guessing you must have hit your head in the heat of the battle." it would explain a lot of things, but there always was the possibility that she was lying, then again, Zajivaya wasn't That good of an actress. If she did have amnesia, what would they do with her?

Battle? I was in a battle? I guess a lot has happened in nine years. "So, what exactly happened before I... Well... You know." I get a flash, a brief moment of clarity. I see a room... A school somewhere? And I hear a man's voice say "Befriend them" then, just as quickly as it came, the moment is gone.

Kaii looked over at Zaji. "Yeah; I think this is you. Brian is next. Then I think Dean and I will just fly home."

Brian watched her go then waited silently in the car until they arrived at his home. He slipped out with a wave and a smile saying, "So long." He turned and headed into his home, knowing that he was in for a severe pounding. On his way up to apartment, he shifted back into Raven before stepping out and walking into his room. Looking around, he called softly, "Master, are you here?"

Dean looked over at Kaii asking, "So, do you want to head home now?"

A silhouette of a man was lounging in an arm chair, a glass of amber whiskey in his hand. "All I ask... Is for an... Assistant, you could say, competent enough to not get in my way," Victor hissed. He stood and threw the glass of whiskey at raven. It intentionally missed. "You let them get away!!" He slammed raven up against the wall, arm at his throat, cutting off his oxygen. "You let our opportunity slip through the cracks. Zajivaya is doing better than you and she's centuries younger!!" He threw raven down, kicking his ribs, hard. "If all you are going to do is repeatedly fail me, then I have no further use for you!" He stepped back and raised his hand, green fire playing through his fingertips. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't blast you to Kingdom Come."

Kaii nodded, standing up and getting out. "Yeah... Yeah, let's go. We can fly there. I feel well enough to do so."

"well,'' Danasi started. "not that I know very much about you, but a villan named Victor was attacking the Fortress of Solitude where Kaii lived. The explosions were so violent that they could be seen from very far away. So we all went to the fortress to fight... I was knocked unconcious for some of it. Runepreist, do you remember anything that might have happened to Zajivaya?" she asked.

"Actually, I might," I say, getting up from the couch. I had wondered why Zajivaya's reaction to my purification rune was so severe, and in light of the recent discoveries my theory carries far more weight. "During the battle, Zajivaya was infected with some of Victor's ruin. I cured her using the same rune I used to clear dean's lungs, but she reacted differently than most. I'm thinking that the rune also purged all of her evil memories, which, given the length and completeness of the block, means that she very may well have been a villain during the time that we knew her."

I'm not exactly sure what Runepriest just said, but it isn't good. I was a villain? What happened in nine years that drove me to that?

Danasi thought about this. "well that certainly would explain it." she murmured. she still wasn't exactly trusting of Zajivaya, but giving the recent events, she was at least obligated as a decent person to give her a do-over. "i suppose we'll have to begin from the start again. my name is Danasi, that's Runepriest, and this is Jaidex." she introduced. for a second there she felt a familiar presence nearby them but it soon disappeared. "now about the jewels." she said as she turned back to them. "we'll have to return them, but i'm not sure if memory loss would convince authorities to let you go."

Dolly was walking to Raven and Victor's apartment after a very interesting overhear. if she played this right, they could turn this into a good thing. however, one slip up and it would be over.

"We could return them anonymously," I say, inspecting the case. "I assume old Zajivaya was smart enough to not leave any fingerprints on them, one of us could probably just do a flyby drop off at the police station."

I nod at each of them. It's strange, their names should be new to me, but I feel like I know them all already. " So if I wasn't a hero," I say, "Why was I helping all of you?"
