Whats with all the gold?: Alexander came from a family of royalty, therefore gold seemed very fitting.
Whats their crown represent?: It represents his father, it's all he has left of him. When his family died he kept his father's crown vowing to live in his foot steps.
Extra: Story
Alexander was the first born to a royal family. As a young pea-hound he was always very adventurous and excited. He loved his father and looked up to him so much. Unfortunately not everyone loved his father. A horrible pea-hound plotted to murder the royal family, including the young Alexander. After witnessing his father's death Alexander fled into the woods, his fathers large crown on his head. His memories of the events have become hazy now and some part of his is relieved but another part is sad because now the memories of his father and his family are slipping away from him as well.

Whats with all the gold?: Beholder's egg hatched in a pool of gold forever staining her gold
Whats their crown represent?: Since everyone marvels at her spectatular colour, her best friend gave her the crown as a gift

Whats with all the gold?: Lightning was born in a lightning storm. A lightning bolt struck him, but it surprisingly brought no harm upon him. It stained his fur with a gold hue, thus his golden fur.
Whats their crown represent?: Lightning's crown was given to him by his parents when he went out on his own and was meant to symbolize courage and strength. He has treasured it ever since.
