Do you thing that 3 fursonas is too many?
Not at all, I think that as long as you have the capacity then it should be fine.
It's based on a person's preference and personality which sadly fluxes.
I myself have 3 (kinda-losing the strong connection heh)
I have a feral
one that can be feral or non
and an anthro
But it's all up to the person, I do think that having over 3 active at a time is kinda stressful (can't think of a better word) but that also doesn't mean that after those 3 fursonas that you have for example 2 inactive.

Pshhh no, I have 4. A main sona, Shadow, that I use as my username for everything, that I go by, and who I use for big RP's.
Then I have my two secondary female sonas, Alex and Nova.
Alex is more of the girly side of me, while Nova is more of the punk/scene side.
Shadow is more of my bossy, everyday life, angry type sona. She is also the one who everyone knows me by (since it's my username) and she is also the one who I put my emotions through. She is the sona I use for vent art when needed.
Then I have Zeke, who is my male sona. He's more of the side of me who gets into trouble and does everything to bend the rules.

I feel that if you need more than one sona, there should be a reason. My reason is because the other sona's are sides that I don't show very often. Like Zeke obviously. I don't bend rules or get into trouble very often. Though, you do see more of Nova in me (if you know me in person) than you do Alex or Zeke. But you see Shadow the most as I am more angry and bossy.

Its a personal preference- i couldn't handle three myself- though i have two and a partial sona
Its really up to you how you dictate that

Nagini, for sure. She's based off of my Ball Python Issa, who is the absolute light of my life. I would never dream of selling her. Nagini's design/concept/species is by me, art is by quardiian.

My sona and all three of my Windwaker fancharacters. quq My WWs are a bit less active art-wise, but.

I think it varies person to person, but here's my opinion.
You have a fully rounded personality, right? As in, you're complex-- You'll react to the exact same situation in different ways depending on your mood and so on. These aren't different "sides" to your personality, they're just your personality. If you try to break that into pieces, you end up with a lot of characters with really flat or shallow personalities, which isn't my favorite. qq;;
So I have one main sona, Ray. He has my personality. If I were to make another main sona, it wouldn't be to split my personality up. I don't want him to just represent my "silly side." Because when I'm silly and when I'm not isn't random-- I'm extremely silly when I'm around people I love and trust! My boyfriend has seen more of me being silly than anyone else! So Ray is silly when he's around people he loves and trusts. If I reduced him to just silly, he's just... Two-dimensional. I don't really want to be represented by a bunch of two-dimensional characters! I want to be represented by one interesting one!
But to finish the thought I started above. If I were to make another main sona, they wouldn't represent me at all. The only thing about me Ray doesn't have covered already is "the person I /want/ to be," and that is what I feel I can turn into another character without compromising Ray's personality.

I use main sona because I also have a... secondary sona, I guess? They don't have a name or a personality and they're barely an actual character, but they are a better visual representation of me.
