For the first time in a while the black apprentice felt rather awkward. She would have to watch him fail miserably at hunting, even though he was almost ready to become a warrior. He nodded, tasting the air. He smelt lots of prey but the strongest was mouse scent. He spotted a leaf scuttling around in the grass and he dropped into a crouch. It was slightly off balance, putting more weight on his left leg. He swished his tail excitedly and ruffled up some leaves. The mouse was alerted and stopped dead in his tracks. He then hissed in annoyance and leapt through the air, landing with his fore paws on the mouse. He threw it up with his claw and bit its neck , clamping it in his jaws.

icepaw couldn't help but wince. even if he did catch the mouse it was because of his reaction and not because of the techniques. um... alright. first of all, you're a little unbalanced and need to put more weight on the right. also, the tail should not move under any circumstance, which you did. and check your paws, you almost stepped on a twig twice. you have to put your paws lighter on the ground and try to stay lower. icepaw said, serious for the first time in the day.

icepaw felt a bit guilty and sat down next to him. well, you at least caught it. and that is what makes hunting complicated. you've got to be pending on every single thing of your body. to be balanced, keep the tail still, step lightly. icepaw sucked at serious conversations and she didn't really see where this one was going to. the white apprentice looked at the mouse he left in front of her and sighed. see it this way. you're an amazing fighter and suck at hunting. i am good at hunting but am the worst possible cat ever at fighting. everything's balanced. plus i can sometimes teach you if you teach me

Shadowpaw perked up a little bit, his usual gleaming golden eyes returning. "Yeah, you do suck," he purred with amusement and playfully nudged her. "But yeah, maybe we can both get better. Maybe you should demonstrate how a truly good hunter does it," he meowed more seriously. He was very playful, but could be determined and serious, too.

icepaw smiled at him and nudged him back before jumping back on to her feet. tasting the air she caught some water vole near and decided to catch it. she saw it there, fat and juicy. icepaw crouched, doing what she did every single day. the apprentice approached it, her tail moving a bit, nervous and self conscious as shadowpaw was watching. anyway when icepaw was close enough she pounced on it and applied the killing bite to its neck. then she turned to shadowpaw with the usual smirk. your turn.
