I can't wait to see more!
Maybe you could try combining some sentences; It seems there are lots of short ones.
(Instead of "I have a feather. It's gray with black markings.", try "I have a feather; it's gray with black markings.")
(P.S I didn't try to make the sentence one from the story.)
