Those "purple markings" are just shading.

i don't think so. the artist could've just used a black brush and turned down the opacity, just like with what they used for the "behind legs", the legs that aren't in the foreground.

Ah, I'm pretty sure it's just shading. The color of the markings is probably a purplish color. You can see the purple color inside the ear as well.

Sorry if this has been pointed out but look at this baby rat from July(?) 2008. He has a "frame". None of the others do.

Ha anyone noticed most Cake Dog eye colors match their packaging?
The first not really, the rainbow sprinkle has rainbow for both, the third has purple for both, the fourth a weird mix of brown and pink (both on package) and last red for both.
