All this talk about 'bad' colours and 'good' colours... this just shows that almost every rare item on AJ is completely demand driven, and spikes are the best example. There's millions of spikes now, but people still think they're rare. And I get yelled at when I try to explain that there is stuff rarer than spikes. Pink, orange, and green aren't 'bad' colours, and they're not the 'least rarest', people just say that because they're not very popular.
Some items that are actually rare don't have much demand since they're being clouded over by the massive hype for spikes. Sometimes I ask people how much they think a first birthday cake is worth, or maybe a lava glove. I'm lucky if I hear long collar. And when I say I traded a short pink collar for my first birthday cake, they say things like "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!"

A lot of pets on cs are demand driven too. Think about the shima long tail for a second, how did it even get so much demand? It's just a 2009 rare.
Remember the valentines day 2014 pps lion or the april 2014 pps lion with the extreme amount of auctions with bids including list pets that turned out to be uncommon anyway? I do.

There's almost no reason to rant about demand, players/members of a community where you can obtain items in will start viewing some rare items as 'better' than others.

Without demand there wouldn't be a trading system anyway, can you imagine trading a black long for rare butterfly wings?
Without demand a goal to obtain your first spike, or your 10th spike, or your founder or headdress wouldn't be hard to achieve anyway. There would be no fun in trading. You wouldn't be happy to see that your bff sent you another spike wrist for your mailtime videos. You'd be just as happy as getting a necklace in your jam a grams for your mailtime.

Also, i'm trying to get either a green or yellow long with my orange long…. which one's rarer (Green or Yellow)?

Yellow spikes of any variety are usually considered "rarer" than greens.
Order normally goes (from what I've seen):
Black
Purple
Red
Blue
Yellow
Green
Pink
Orange

Oh cool thanks! But from what i've heard, red is 2nd, and idk if this is true but my friend told me blacks are now worth 4 bad longs and red is worth 3? idk...

Some people say red is second, but honestly, from what I've seen, red and purple go for about the same.
Black ones can sometimes go for two or three good long collars plus one or two bad long collars, sometimes even four good long collars. Red, purple, and sometimes blue can get about two bad long collars.
