He gave her a blank stare as she wrote down something in a notebook. By the interested glint in her eyes, he could tell that she wrote something about him. He didn't answer her question about whether or not he could talk. After all, he was not a science test subject. His eyes darted around as he searched for the other zombie again.

Alice noticed the strange zombie staring around at something.
"I don't know if you can understand me, but I'm Alice." She said.
This is a zombie. You're talking to a zombie. Are you crazy?! You can't have sunken this far.
Welll it's not attacking me. Does it want to?
"Are you going to kill me?"

He payed attention to what she was saying, but frowned in confusion when she said that she was Alice. Alice? What's an Alice? I thought she was a human. He thought silently to himself. Since he had forgotten everything about his previous life, he wasn't entirely familiar with the concept of names. However, when she asked if he was going to kill her, he smiled with amusement and shook his head.

"So, I can tell you're different from the others. Not just how you understand. You look different too. Do you like the normal zombies?"

He shrugged in response to her question. He didn't really see anything wrong with them. Sure, they did have the strange craving for humans, but so did he. It wasn't like it could be helped, and he honestly didn't see anything wrong with it. He examined the girl for a moment, probably just as curious of her as she was of him. It was a bit weird for her to seek out a predator and not be the least bit scared after all.

"So, do you have a name? I know M's can communicate in a sense. Do you guys differentiate between each other?" She asked. She found herself more fascinated in this creature than fearful. Why should she be fearful? She had nothing left anyway.

He frowned at the mention of the word "name." He had no idea what that was. Finally deciding that it was practically impossible to communicate without speaking, he cleared his throat. "Uh, my name? Don't you mean my rank?" He responded. "And, uh, yeah. I've run into a few territorial Ms before. There's not much of a difference between us. They're just weaker... and a bit more unintelligent." He glanced down at her notebook, expecting her to scribble down some more information.

Of course! He's a zombie! There's probably a lot of stuff he doesn't get!
"Well, there are a lot of humans out there. We have to differentiate. Like, my mom had three kids. She didn't want to call us 'Kid 1, Kid 2, and Kid 3' and calling us 'The first boy, The first girl, and the second boy' or something like that is stupid. So she gave us names. So if you want to talk to my brother, you say 'Chris'. That's his name. If you want to talk to me, you say 'Alice', and if you want to talk to my little brother, you say 'Joseph'. Make sense?"

"Oh, yeah. I guess that does kind of make sense," He answered. It was kind of a weird thing to learn for him, because for as long as he could remember he didn't really have any use for that type of classification. He didn't say anything about it out loud, but he liked the name Alice. It seemed to suit the human well. "Well, I don't have a name then."
