Personality and History (4 lines or a few more): He's kind and sweet, and feels for others easily. As an orphan and knows very little about his parents. ((OK, let's start. All accepted, if I didn't say so already.))

Mehela stood in front of her bedroom mirror in the palace. She had just finished an exasperating lunch of sitting still and being unbearably polite. With a sigh, she pulled the big bejeweled clip out of her hair and shook her head. Every morning her maid tried something else, something to make it look 'pretty'. Mehela almost always hated it. She thought her hair was fine just the way it was, cropped short a few inches below her ears. Hats fit better over it this way.

She changed her dress (without a maid, what a scandal!) into more pracitcal clothes, a riding skirt with think leggins underneath and a loose blouse, before leaving her room. She held her wide-brimmed hat behind her back, and crept along the hallways. With her luck, someone she knew would stop her to demand why she was wearing the clothes she did, where she was going or else just to chat. She almost ran into her father in law, but she managed to dart behind a corner before he saw her.

Finally she was outside and heading towards the stables. Her horse, Royal Dove, was likely already brushed. It was time for a mid-day ride, but she didn't feel like going alone. She entered the stable quietly to make sure no one saw her that she didn't want to see her.

((Okay, I'm not sure how easy it will be to interact with these guys... but I'll give it a shot at introducing them.^^))

Malakay, relieved to be finished with another meal consisting of daft court woman and boasting old nobles, grimaced and ran a hand through his thick black hair as he limped across the grounds of the castle. The doctors were constantly reminding him to stretch his leg and give it exercise so that the muscles would not tense in the wrong position and tear should he try to move, or some other such rubbish. He hated listening to the old fools but the King always insisted on it, as unfailingly gullible when it came to medical practitioners as ever. "After all, they've been studying for years! And I can't have my adviser confined to his bed now can I? For your own sake, old friend, I command you do as they say." This, of course, applied not only to the physical therapy but to drinking ridiculous concoctions, suffering through "massages" that inflamed the injured limb, and constant application of a sticky salve that burned his skin. Sighing, Malakay grimaced and sat on the nearest lawn chair he could spot that was hidden from the King's bedroom view, painfully rubbing his leg and muttering swears under his breath.

Luke smiled once more at the children he had just entertained with a few antics-assisted by their father, who was nearly as ill as they- and waved as he departed, his heart sinking rather than lifting at their laughter. The children and their parents would be dead within days, no doubt about that. And he reminded himself glumly, So will I if I don't stop loitering about these sick folk.

[[Awesome ^^]]

Finny was already out in the garden, busy at work, as always. He had been feeling drowsy but made sure he didn't fall down on the plants or something like that. He started at the last row, the first plant, which was a rare, and charming purple rose bush. Even as a child, he understood he needed to be extremely careful around the plant, considering it was imported from Japan.
He watered it and firmed the soil around it, fluffing the top to make it look natural. With a small smile, he continued down the row, doing the same to every delicate plant there was. He looked up, wondering where Duchess Marie was. About halfway through the long row of plants, he tipped down his straw hat and plopped down on the grass lining the gardens, the sun not getting to his eyes.
He heard a walking sound behind him, and clumsily got to his feet, looking up to see Young Duchess Mehela. She looked like she wanted to be left alone, so the young gardener whipped around and pretended like he saw nothing.

Mehela had heard the movement behind her, and twisted around in surprise. It felt like her heart skipped a beat, she thought she had been caught. It was silly, really. Having to creep around the place. She lived here, so she should be able to go where she wanted. And right now she wanted to go for a ride. If her mother found out, though, that she had gone alone or at 'this time of day' Mehela would be in trouble. It seemed like there was always an excuse not to have fun.

"Who's th-" She broke off, seeing it was just a little boy. "Oh. Hi." She said. Her heart slowed down and she relaxed. "You're Freddie, right? Or was it Finny?" She asked the boy. She was horrible with names, and it made her feel awful when she messed up a name or forgot completely.

Finny continued to pretend like he hadn't noticed a thing, adding more water to the biggest plant in the row. He spared a glance behind him and saw her seemingly afraid. He jumped as she spoke to him, and he twisted around, bowing down slightly. "H-Hello, Duchess." he stuttered, bending back up. "Yes, Finny." he nodded vigorously.
He wondered why she needed to be sneaking around, she did live there and could do what she pleased, couldn't she? Perhaps her mother didn't approve...

((I think I have decided on a slightly new way of running this place, instead of a new rp up every Saturday. Since I will be alternating between the two threads, and plan on keeping it that way, it means that close to the end of the week I can start accepting forms for one before the other closes. So there will always be one running, and so that every rp gets a full 7 days. So instead of this one finishing Friday, which isn't very long, it till finish next Tuesday evening or Wednesday afternoon, and the other will start then. That means the other will go up a few days before, stop accepting when this one closes and start as soon as this closes. Then there's no pauses and boring days. Does that make sense and sound good? And I am open to suggestions.))

Mehela smiled at Finny. At least one of her name choices was right. His bow was sweet, too. She didn't always like being bowed to, it made it seem like people were always waiting for her. She didn't like waiting for others, so why should people wait for her? She didn't mention it, though. She looked at the ground and then at her skirt, wondering how much dirt on herself that she could risk. With a mental shrug, she lowered herself halfway to the grass and then dropped the rest of the way. "So are these your gardens, Finny?" She asked the boy. Mehela leaned closer to a nearby flower and sniffed it. It smelled sweet and rich at the same time, a very beautiful smell, if smells could be beautiful. "It is very nice."

Finny quickly jumped out of her way, watching her eyes flash back to her skirt then up to the gardens. "Duchess, you needn't get your skirt dirty," he said quietly, not wanting to be the cause of her getting dirty. But he had heard about this Duchess, she was energetic and very outdoorsy. He sat down by her, surprised she would be coming out to visit the garden. "Yes," he answered her, carefully tending to a bending stem by turning it the other way. He flushed and looked at the ground. "Th-Thanks." he said quietly.

((Good. I'm glad it made sense, while I was writing it it made sense, but I wasn't sure.))

Mehela watched Finny tend to his garden. "Oh, don't worry about it, Finny. I'd rather not be wearing it at all, I'd rather have pants on. But oh no, that isn't allowed!" She threw up her hands. "It is a beautiful garden. I don't see it often, but I like it very much. What are those flowers called?" She asked, pointing to the imported Japanese flower. She liked the colour, and the smell.

((I'm going to include Malakay with my next post, don't worry. And you can make up some name if you want for the flowers, it doesn't have to be that real.))
