I shook my head firmly. "At least let me come with you," I said. Before she could say anything else I said, "I'm not that great at fire bending either; maybe we can help each other." I walked over to where I had dropped the basket, pulling Kaia with me. I pulled her inside and sat the basket down on the counter. "Mom," I said. "Kaia is going on a trip and wants me to go with her. I don't know i-when I'll be back, but if her brother or dad come after her, don't tell them." I had almost said 'if' instead of 'when' and bit my lip. My mom looked at me and understood immediately. "Ok," she said softly. "But be careful." I smiled wanly. "I will."

I blinked and shook my head " n-no.." but she had already pulled me to speak with her mothers. at her mother's reaction i nodded my thanks, unable to deny that i was happy that people were standing by me. " i...thank you." i said " it will be nice to have a friend with me on the trip. after being with my Father it will be a nice..change."

I dismissed her thanks with the wave of a hand. "It's nothing, really," I said. "My life wasn't going to amount to much staying here anyway." I bit my lip. "I will miss my mom, though..." I tried to hold back tears.

I walked around the city, hands behind the head as i walked through the streets. it was weird being here, and to be honest the looks i got were....uncomfortable. i wasn't used to being in the city, i was used to living in my own little way. plus the way i dressed was enough to make people question my life. i looked more like a spiritual bird than someone who did airbending. I heard a ruckus and noticed something definitely out of the ordinary. a creature and it's rider, definitely not something you see in the city everyday. i noticed that people were giving them problems, making comments and mockery. " hey, cut them some slack would you?" i said, shoving my way through the people.
" and why should we?" someone shouted " she brought her mongrel in here!"
" aw, i bet her companion is a real sweetie. is this how you treat people when they first come in. isn't this place suppose to be about piece and harmony between everyone? there is so much aggression it's upsetting the harmony. i'm quite sure the chief would dislike hearing this. " at this threat people growled and shook their heads but went onto their business.

I turned my head, hearing a girl call out in my defence. I watched as the people stopped making their rude remarks, casting angry glares in my direction before continuing with their own business. I walked Ekta over to the girl and looked down at her with a friendly smile. "Thanks for that," I say gratefully, jumping down from Ekta's back. I patted the moose lion's shoulder and she rubbed her soft nose against my shoulder. "My name's Maylin, and this is Ekta," I introduce myself and my companion, giving her a small bow of greeting. "And your statement is true; Ekta really is very friendly," I add with a small laugh, the eight-foot tall creature lowering it's head and nudging my shoulder.

I shrugged softly " people just need to mind their own business and learn to leave people alone." i said " I mean i used to get comments and looks too, just look at my style of dress. But threaten them with the chief and remind them that the City is supposed to be the center of harmony between benders and non benders." i said, shrugging " i'm Aura, t's nice to meet you, and Ekta. despite her furious appearance she seems like a teddy bear. a strong one but still. you wouldn't be riding her if she wasn't." i said " i wish i had a pet of my own but so such luck. i can''t get a lemur to sit still long enough let alone become a pet." i chuckled softly " i take it your new in the city, yes?"

I looked down at my feet " i'm sorry." i told her " you don't need to come with me. really, i'm there is something for you here." i told her. " i don't want to separate you from your mother. maybe...maybe she could come with us? no....if my brother comes he would know you were with me." i sighed and shook my head " i wish this were easier. i don't even know where i'm going."

"My mom will be ok," I said confidently. "And it's ok. Life isn't easy. It's not supposed to be easy, for that matter." I sighed. "I guess we could always head to Republic City... I mean, they're supposed to be neutral in this big war, aren't they?"

I nodded " yes, they are supposed to be nuetral. but my father....i don't know who knows my family and who will attack me for it. in a big city, my out of control bending might pose dangers and problems."

"It's nice to meet you too Aura!" I say with a bright smile. "Yeah, I just got here. Although I have been here a few times before with my Dad," I add lightly, glancing at my feet, regretting the fact that I mentioned my father. "So what are you planning in doing in Republic City?" I ask kindly. I let out a soft gasp when Ekta suddenly poked me in the back with her antlers, the moose lion letting out a low moan. "Ekta! That wasn't very nice," I scold her, but my voice gentle since I wasn't angry. "Do you want a quick snack?" I ask the beast, to which she quickly replied with a happy snort. I smiled and told her to lay down, which she obeyed. I walked over to her side and opened one of the saddlebags, taking out an apple. I shined the apple in my emerald green cape, the surface of the fruit becoming a crisp and clear scarlet. I held the apple out to Ekta and she broke half the apple off and ate it. "it's alright girl, you can have it," I say, giving here the other half. We would usually share, but I didn't want any at the moment. She snorted lightly and took the rest of the apple, nuzzling me again. Her actions accidentally moved the patch over my left eye away and I gasp faintly, pulling it back over my eye. "Be careful girl," I whisper before rubbing my hand down her muzzle. I turn aback to Aura, Ekta remaining led down on the stone road."sorry about that," I say, feeling slightly awkward. "Ekta wanted a snack," I glance at the moose lion and smile, the creature returning the expression with a huff.

I smiled "don't be sorry."i told her "even animals have to eat."i said shrugging and watching the two with amusement. "as for what i am doing here....i have no idea yet. to be honest i usually just come in and see what trouble i can cause." i said smiling. " kidding. about the causing trouble part i was definitely raised better. being raised by an airbender and all i'm supposed to be that meditative and nice person. " i shrugged " i just like to come to the city occasionally. get away from meditating and the kids."

I smile lightly, amusement flickering in my gaze. "Yeah, I don't really have any plans either. Ekta and I have been traveling for two years, but we don't really have anywhere we're headed." I say looking at Ekta, her head resting on the ground.
