I was laying back in Ekta's saddle, half asleep as she walked a slow steady pace down the dirt path. I was awoken when Ekta let out a loud grunt to alert me of something. I sat up, rubbing one of my eyes and looking down at Ekta's shoulders.
"What is it Ekta?" I ask her, earning forward and patting her shoulder. She looked ahead and snorted lightly. I looked in the same direction to see large, tall buildings in the distance.
"That must be Republic City!" I exclaim happily, throwing my hands into the air.
"We've finally made it girl!" I lean forward again, patting Ekta's shoulders. She lets out a small and excited roar, rearing up a little.
"Whoa! Calm down Ekta!" I say with a laugh, holding the front of her saddle. She gave a little kick, wanting my approval to speed up. I smiled and put my feet into the stirrups of Ekta's saddle, taking hold of the reins, grasping them firmly in my hands.
"Alright, let's go!" I call out happily, Ekta responding by taking off into a full gallop, her large paws kicking up a small cloud of dust.
"Republic City, here we come!"By the time Ekta and I had reached the first busy streets of the city, Ekta had slowed down to her usual leisurely pace. We walked through the stone roads of the city, getting several confused and afraid looks. I assumed the people were afraid because of Ekta. After all, I
am riding on the back of a nine-foot-tall predator known for its vicious and aggressive attitude. "Hey you! Get that filthy beast out of the city!" I heard one man call out in both anger and obvious fear. Ekta turned and glared at the man, letting out a fearsome growl. The man coward away, still yelling at me and Ekta.
"It's alright Ekta, just ignore him." I say in a calming voice, running my hand through the fur of her shoulders. Ekta stopped growling and looked ahead, continuing to walk down the street, her ears flat in annoyance. I usually didnt tolerate people insulting me or Ekta, but this time I let it slip. After all; the man only said that because he was afraid of the creature. Ekta may have been a runt among other Saber-toothed moose lions, but that certainly doesn't make her a small animal. We continued slowly down the streets, ignoring the strange looks and rude remarks some of the townspeople gave us.
