Well, I name my CS pups at birth, so the pup's name decides its gender, for me. And if I get too many of a variation, I just leave their names as is and send them to my pound or trade group. I will write down these names, though, so I can reuse them once the dog is traded away. But, yeah, that's how I do it.

Erm...okay then?
My only pet who's gender makes no sence at all is Frost, my pink sorbet. I named him frost because the puppy in the blanket was a frost white, and I imagined him as a boy before he even started growing. WHen he turned pink I didn't have the heart to make him female in my head.

I have no set way of telling male to female. I just look them over, and it usually speaks 'male' or 'female' to me. If it doesn't I wait around to pair it up in one of my packs, and see if anyone needs a brother, sister, or mate XD

That's exactly what I was trying to say in my earlier post. =P

Well, I have two 'ungrouped' groups in addition to my packs and other collections etc. One is for males and one is females, so when I'm creating a pack, I can just look in each group and pick one of each. Usually I try to keep about the same amount, but right now there's around 35 in each 'cause I've been too lazy to organize them into packs. I generally keep one of each variation, then decide based on looks and apparent personality, whether it's a boy or girl. Some are pretty cliched, but I have some girlie boys and boyish girls.
I have my mother’s dreams,
I have my father’s eyes.
You can’t take that from me.
Just go ahead and try.
The Crescent City sleeps
while giants in the sky
preparing to unleash,
let loose a mighty cry.
Can nobody save us?
Will anyone try?
Pyre is burning,
the severance in tight.
And all along, they’re saying:
Help is on the way
(they said, they said)
Help is on the way.
They never came.

I don't know, I guess if it looks a tad more girly, it's a girl, and if it's more boyish, it's a boy. And some I just decide all of a sudden without any reason. And there
are some pets where I haven't picked a gender. I'll leave it up to them.
With this second-gen pairing:

I have both of these pets, and they're both girls for me. But whatever.
