Dear Dairy/Diary/Waffles...

Dear Waffles,
We're having a bake sale at school. Everyone has to bring something. If you bring something homemade, you get a late homework pass that works for 1 assignment. If you bring something you bought, you get a candy cane. If you bring nothing, you get nothing 30 minutes detention for not showing school spirit. I asked Mist why they are so strict about bringing things, and she said that last year, only 6 out of 1,000 students brought stuff.
(3 cookies, 1 doughnut, 5 cupcakes, 1 cinnamon roll, 1 small cake, 1 homemade pie)
My mom is baking brownies right now. I can smell it. I'm soooooo hungry! I have to go to school soon, so I have to stop writing.

I'm back! Did you miss me? (Of course not, waffles don't have feelings... Or do they? Dun dun dun!) Well, I'm at lunch right now. A bunch of baked goods are on the back table of the cafeteria, since they are setting up the bake sale. My mouth is watering. I had to get the disgusting cafeteria food because my Mom got so caught up in making the brownies, that she forgot to pack my lunch.
The back table was actually the populars table, so they had to sit with us, the outcasts. We were the only table that still had room. They whined about how they needed to "put on their makeup in peace", and "not be surrousded by us loosers". Whatever. I don't care what they're going to say.

Sorry this waffle was kinda boring. Here's a summary in case you didn't want to read the whole thing: Coal's mom is baking brownies for the bake sale. The bake sale is on the back tables in the cafeteria, so the populars have to sit with the outcasts. If you did read the whole thing, you would have noticed the relationship between the number of baked goods donated last year and the number of days until X-mas. Also, there's a Frozen reference.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Coal's mom is baking brownies. I know Coal is kind of a dog (and also kind of a human high school student), but she can still eat chocolate. The reason I didn't finish this was because I have other things to do irl, but the next one will be up soon!

After lunch, I got called to go home early. I had no idea why. Also, I missed the bake sale. I got to keep my Mom's brownies for myself, though. Yum! When I arrived back at home, all of my family was there. Even Shimmer, who should have been at Wolfia Tec. I looked from Shimmer, to Mom, to Dad, and to Skyscraper. I started to open my mouth to ask what was going on, when Skyscraper yelled, "WE'RE GOING ON A ROAD TRIP!!!"

We're going on a road trip?!
Ugh. A road trip. We're going on a road trip. And we were supposed to pack light, and as Mom said, "Only the essentials." Well, I forgot to pack my waffle. No, not the frozen kind or the kind that starts with powder or batter. The kind you write in. I used to call it a dairy diary, but that was too girly. Now it's a waffle, and its at home. I also left my light blue pen at home, so I had to use this one I found in the car.

Dad says we're going to try out a new school there, and see how we like it. I don't like that idea, since I'm going to miss my friends. We still email each other. We are right now.

I'm writing this in a notebook I bought from the gas station's Mini-Mart. Maybe I should name it like I named the Waffle. How about Frosting? That was on my names list for the Waffle. The road is bumpy, so I can't w r it e st rai gh t anym o r e . (so I can't write straight anymore) I'll write in you later, Frosting!

Dear Waffle Frosting,
I'm so used to writing Waffle!
Today I went to a shopping center in NYC. My parents were at a business dinner party. They left Shimmer and me to look after Skyscraper from 5:30 to 6:30. Of course, Shimmer (My girly older sister)was shopping and texting the whole time, and Skyscraper (my crazy insane little brother) was in the "Puppy Corner" of the shopping center and watching a movie. I just roamed around the shopping center.
When I passed one of the stores, I saw someone writing in a little book. A diary? She was sitting by herself and she looked lonely. I was about to go and talk to her, but Shimmer ran up to me.

Shimmer: Coal! Coal! Coal! Guess what?
She talks so fast, I don't even have time to say "what?"
Shimmer: EARRINGS AT STACY'S (this world's version of Macy's) ARE 20% OFF! [squee!]
Me: Don't you already have a billion earrings?
Shimmer: I had 47 pairs. Now I have 51! And since you don't have any, I bought you some!
She dumps at least 20 pairs of earrings out of her Stacy's bag.
Me: Thanks, but no thanks. The ones you bought me are all pink.
Shimmer: Not this one! It's blue and silver. See?
Me: Oh. Well, I'll try these on. (Earrings at Stacy's are pretty expensive, and I would feel bad about wasting her money.)
Me: How does it look?
Shimmer: [gives me a funny look] It looks ok... but you could use a little make up. And maybe a trip to the fur salon. And a spa treatment. And--
Me: I'm not wasting all my allowance on that stuff.
Shimmer: Ok... It's almost 6:30. Let's go get Skyscraper and head back to the hotel.

(I bought another set of pens, but none of them were light blue. That's why I can still write dialogue in color, but the normal writing is still dark blue.)

When I passed by a row of stores again, the spot where I saw someone sitting was empty. I hope they found their parents. I picked up my shopping bag (I bought some uniforms for my new/temporary school: The School of Writing for Talented Animals) and walked back to the hotel.

~Present Time~

I'm wearing those earrings right now as I am taping this into my waffle. I'm back at home now by the way. I'm going to write about some of the stuff going on now pretty soon, but I'm still going to tape some of my Frosting entries into here.

Dear Frosting,
Today is my first day at the School of Writin SOWFGA. If I keep writing the whole thing, my paw is going to ache. Anyway, I bumped into Leah! What a coincidence! She was talking with someone else-- I think her name's Cassie-- so I walked around to try to meet some new friends. I saw someone walking down the hall.

She had the pattern of a pony on her fur. A small horse was trotting along behind her.

Me: Hi! I'm Coal.
Pony: I'm Pony. This is my pet horse named--
Dakota (I'll call her that for short): Dakota's Wildfire. Pleasure to meet you, miss.
Me: It can talk?!
Dakota: I'd like it if you called me "Dakota's Wildfire" instead of "it"'
Me: 0__0
Pony: Sorry about that, Coal. I'm on my way to class now, so see you at lunch!

That was odd. I took a look at my schedule to see where I should go first.

1) Her full name is Coal Raindrop Barkmore.

2) She was named that because she was the color of coal and it was raining when she was born.

3) She was born on April 18. (This is not my real birthday)

4) She got her purple scarf from her mom. It was originally her great-great-grandmother's, but it was passed on down the generations.

5) Coal is allergic to peanuts, pollen, and mushroms.

Coal: Why are you telling them my secrets?!
Me: I'm the writer, so I get to chose what to tell and what not to tell.

Dear Waffles,
We had a Christmas play! I know those things are for little kids, but we preformed for the elementary school and they loved it. It was the story of how a royal family got magic powers. I was the narrator. This is the basic plot of the play:

Long ago, there was a royal family who ruled over a kingdom in the mountains.
[The actors walk onto the stage]

They were (in order) King Thunder, Queen Stormie, Prince Boulder, Princess Ocean, Prince Light, and Princess River.
One day, Prince Light was taking a walk through the woods. He saw a little bunny named Sir Hopsalot

Sir Hopsalot said he would enchant the family if each of them did 3 good deeds. Prince Light returned to the palace, and told his family the news. They each did three good deeds, and Sir Hopsalot gave them the power to control the weather.

That was just a shortened version of the play. Even though I wasn't an actor, I had to wear a costume. It was a light blue gown with a dark blue cape. Both of them were really big.
Mist was Princess Ocean, Petal was Princess River, Hope was backstage controlling the fog machine, and Photo was King Thunder.


One of the first grade kids at the school said that they wanted our autographs. I signed my name on her flyer for the play. She hugged me and said that I did an amazing job. She was so sweet!

We got hot cocoa from BarkBucks (StarBucks) after the play. Mine came in a cute little mug.

The mug was so cute, I bought my own! I hope Skyscraper doesn't drop it.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Sorry I haven't posted here for so long! I just loved the set of mugs from the advent, and I had to add it to the story. According to the Chicken Smoothie Times, the artist who drew these based them off of mugs he/she has at home. I'm jealous. I want a piggy mug! :)

Dear Waffles,
There you are! Mom made me clean up my room, and I found you under my bed. I found a spider, too. Eek! The last time I wrote in here was a while ago. Anyway, yesterday was Christmas. I got plenty of art stuff! A new sketch book, new pencils, a better eraser, and PAWSMA COLORS!!! (Prisma Colors) I can't believe it! Those are the best markers anyone could ask for. Thanks mom and dad! o3o
Song gave everyone in my 1st period class a candy cane, and I'm munching on it right now. Yum!I also got this note from Photo.

He blinked at me and caught on fire.

He blinks again. He looks like a living flame.
Me: WHAT DID I DO TO YOU? HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE? HOW CAN I HELP YOU?!

Deer Dear Waffles,
It turns out there was a note engraved on the rock that the fire guy threw. This is what it said:

Raindrop,
We have been watching you for the past years of your life and have decided that it was time to let you know. Please meet me in your basement at 11:00 tomorrow morning.

Weird, huh? I haven't been in the basement since I was five, and I only did it because of a dare from my sister. But I wanted to know...
1) Why has he been watching me? (So creepy!)
2) Why did he address me by my middle name?
3) What does he want to tell me?
so I went. I expected to see the same guy, but instead, I saw these deer.

Deer on the left: Greetings, Raindrop. I see you have chosen to join us.
Deer in the middle: Yes... Yes... You have made the right choice.
Deer on the right: Come with us. To the other side.
Me: Who are you? Where is Spark? Are you the ones who have been watching me?
Flight: I am Flight (left.) My sister's are Earth (middle) and Dream (right.)
Dream: Are you ready, Raindrop?
Me: For what?! (I'm starting to panic. I don't think this is normal.)
Earth: Let us begin.
Me: But I'm not ready!!!

The three deer stood in a circle (or triangle) around me. They moved forward toward me until their horns brushed the tips of my ears, and did some crazy chant thing. Then came a blinding light.
