For the next few days, we watched Ozark and Cerda grow. We watched them fall in love, we watched them have a happy life. All that stopped them was Cerda's sickness that never left her. She was strong, loyal, she was everything Ozark needed. Ozark seemed to mate with every other Vampyress except for her. She was there by his side, always. He could come and go freely, considering he was the leader's son. I watched them, sparing every free second to glide back down to the Earth to once again trace the halls of the Vampyre coven. I watched as new young grew, I watched as they hunted, as they lived. I saw his father turn 1225, and then 1230. I always wanted to see how I looked, I wanted to feel more alive then just feeling and haunting. I walked up to a few of my well-trained followers-Opal Sky, Darkened Clouds, Fiery Snakes, Iron Heart, and Knotted Tree-and I I took them with me when they slept. I welcomed them to my realm, showed them my place, and gave them the opportunity to be a council member apprentice. They gladly accepted-so I branded them with insignias and tattoos on their ankles, wrists, or the back of their neck. Opal Sky became Ashen Sky, Darkened Clouds is now Scarred Beast, Fiery Snakes is Gray Stone, Iron Heart became Blazing Phoenix, and Knotted Tree is Deadly Nectar. They proved their initiation and their names to be worthy by going through highly advanced training missions, including going to random farms and mercilessly killing all of the sheep flocks.
I walked to the new apprentices, all in a line- just like they were taught by the Dragon Hunters. I walked in front of them, looking for any signs of weakness or regret. I saw Blazing Phoenix fidget a small bit, so I decided to question him about it. "Do you not want to be here, apprentice?" He shook his head quickly "No, Rage. I'd rather be here than anywhere, anywhere at all." I glared at him and walked to the other council members. I shouted to the apprentices "The Council will choose who they want based on your test results. The test will begin shortly, one by one." The apprentices stood still, alert and ready. I called over to Scarred Beast "Scarred Beast, come with me." and I went to the Fury Cliffs. A dark demon-like claw came up over the cliff and I saw a horrendous face of a Fury. It snarled and growled in a high pitched voice "Life! A soul of the living has come to us! Must. Have. Life. Need. Soul." Scarred Beast showed no signs of fear. I told him "Kill one." and he nodded curtly. The Furies clawing at the cliff edge shrieked with joy as Scarred Beast approached them. They chanted words such as "Meat!" or "Soul!". They were dark creatures, for the souls not worthy of being in the Dark Realm or the Realm of Life I condemned to be a Fury. They were vile souls always wanting a life or someone or something to possess so they could return to the living world and get their life back. They were void of happiness and joy, all they had was despair and darkness inside them. Humans referred to them as Demons from Hell. They are actually Furies from the Fury Chasm. One day my sister will be one of them. Scarred Beast pulled out his sword-which emanated light from it. The Furies shielded their eyes and screeched t the light. Scarred Beast brought his blade down upon the Fury's head and cut through it like it would through fog. Scarred Beast threw the body towards me and shouted "What are these things, Rage! These are something no man has ever faced before!" I told him calmly "Calm down, Scarred Beast. They were souls of the evil ones who do not deserve peace after their deaths." You will obey the next test steps, right Scarred Beast? Or are these creatures to tough for you to handle?" He stated "I've never faced a creature easier than this. They are so inhumane, it disturbs my peace as long as they live here." I shook my head. The other council members each took an apprentice separately and we must've spent hours trying to see which one we wanted. After a long time we finally lined them up and inspected them, asking questions about our lineage and about us. I shouted "We're done here!" and I guided the council members to a clearing 50 meters off. Night spoke immediately and said "I want Deadly Nectar. He has too much potential, and I know how to put it to use." I nodded, he had a good point. Everyone else had a look in their eye, as if they knew who they wanted as well.
We all walked back up to the apprentices, I stepped aside as Night stood in front of Deadly nectar, Bone stood in front of Gray Stone, Scarface stood in front of Scarred Beast, Snowball stood in front of Blazing Phoenix, and Venomfang eagerly ran up to Ashen Sky. We, were the beginnings of a new world.

Times were swell in the world of the unliving, but I visited the Vampyres once more. Cerda was lying on a bed, sick as can be. A young Vampyre was in cloth, crying. Ozark was telling Cerda, "I already lost my mother, my father, my brothers. I can't lose you." Cerda wheezed out a few words before looking at me. "Everything will be alright, I promise Ozark. You will see me again, soon. I feel no pain." Then she looked at me and mouthed It's time and I walked over to her. Ozark saw me. He shouted "Who are you! Leave Immediately! Can't you see that she's dying!" I held out my hand to Cerda, and I told Ozark "I, am your 'angel of death'. I take your dead away me to a better place. It is the only time you will see me, Ozark, but when you die I will be there." I saw Cerda's ghost rise up and she and I walked away. Ozark saw me meld away, as I brought Cerda up to the Heavens with me. I saw him sobbing over her lifeless body. Then he walked over to the youngling and held it close. "You are all I have left of her, Ember. I will never forget her as long as I have you." I walked Cerda into the Heavens and to the light side, where I bid her farewell. She stopped and whispered "Wait. You were there with me when I was young, I remember your face. Come with me, let us be together, as friends." My eyes watered and I looked away. "I have a job to do Cerda. I long to pass over to the other side, but I can't. Leave without me and wait for Ozark, he will go soon too." She nodded and walked into the light, I shielded my eyes from the glowing light and walked back to the Council grounds.
