She sits on the curb in front of her house, wondering where Josie could be. She had taken almost three pages of notes on their newest case, they were put on this case by their neighbor who had just had his bike stolen, she let out a small sigh as she read over the notes, barely glancing up or moving at all besides shoving her hair out of her face every few seconds.

Josie stood in her little house that she shared with her family, in front of a mirror. She fixed her hat, a 1800s newsboy fashioned that she figured looked enough like a detective hat. She tightened her black coat and headed outside. It was pretty cold, so she was happy for her coat, though she probably would've worn it anyways. She was a detective, she had to wear detective clothes. Besides, she looked cool. Her sister was sitting on the curb, reading stuff.
Josie knelt down beside her. "Let's go door to door. Someone's got to know what happened."

Váli quirked an eyebrow at him. "You aren't just saying that, are you?" they asked and frowned down at one of the portraits they had done of their friend earlier in the year. They hadn't been pleased with how it had turned out; the basic sketch at first was perfect in Váli's opinion, but after adding the paint, it wasn't as appealing to them. Nevertheless, their friend had been quick to praise them for their hard work.They pushed the thought away and looked to the next painting, which was still in need of being finished. There was a cloth on the floor, which was now covered in streaks of paint, all of various colors, and the canvas rested against the easel, waiting to be finished. It had taken the three weeks to get so far, and even with multiple references, Váli was displeased. The scene had been hard to paint for them, though they had desperately wanted to stretch their limits, and their wrist had ached from hours at work afterwords. At the memory, their left hand curled around their right wrist. They sighed. "I don't feel good enough, to be honest with you. I look at my paintings and I see imperfections." they whispered quietly, eyes locked on the floor.

Pol crouched down next to the unfinished painting. "I know." He aside gently. He ran his fingers along the paint, finding all the brushstrokes on the canvas. "Every artist feels that way. But those things are at imperfections to you are what makes your work perfection for someone else." Pol looked up at her from the floor, still crouching. "I can see you in your work. If it turned out just the way you wanted, it wouldn't be yours." He stood, facing her. "Trust me. I understand, but I don't think you need to worry too much."

"I'm sure someone saw something, no?" She giggled an airy giggle as her ponytail flopped over her right shoulder. "Lead the way!"

Oliver looked up at her sister from her few minutes of silent reading. "Oh! Okay, sis!" The red haired girl jumped to her feet, flipping to a new page in her notebook and getting her pencil ready. "I'm sure someone saw something, no?" She giggled an airy giggle as her ponytail flopped over her right shoulder. "Lead the way!"

A Japanese-looking girl who was probably twenty or so wearing oversized boyish work clothes opened the door.
"Hello." Josie said in a professional voice. "My sister and I have a few questions for you regarding a recent disturbance in the neighborhood."
The girl raised her eyes, slightly amused looking. "Okay." She said.
"Good. I'm Josie, this is Oliver. You are?" Josie said, tipping her head to the side.
"Strawberry." She said, leaning against the doorway.
"Okay, Strawberry, where were you at 3:28 to 6:47 yesterday?" Josie said, nodding to Oliver to start taking notes.

Oliver got her pen out from behind her ear, sticking her tongue out slightly so it stuck out from the side of her mouth, jotting down the girls name on the top in surprisingly fancy writing for her age, she takes notes a lot and she always wants them to be readable for both her and her sister. "Before you even ask why, that information is confidential." She had tried to have a serious tone but with her goofy red puff she calls hair and her tongue sticking out even as she talks did not allow any sort of tone that wasn't dorky, she really has to work on that...

Oliver got her pen out from behind her ear, sticking her tongue out slightly so it stuck out from the side of her mouth, jotting down the girls name on the top in surprisingly fancy writing for her age, she takes notes a lot and she always wants them to be readable for both her and her sister. "Before you even ask why, that information is confidential." Strawberry shrugged. They thought this was cute, little kids trying to be detectives. "I was at work, then at dinner, then at home at around 7."
Josie narrowed her eyes inquisitively. "Did you happen to see a bicycle lying around? And, like, steal it?"
Strawberry raised their eyebrows, a bit annoyed. "No." She said. "I'd try some little kid." They backed into their house and shut the door.
Josie turned around the from the door with a sigh, and then regained her confident air. "Okay, let's move on."

Váli sighed. "I'm being incredibly cynical right now." they groaned and started chewing on their bottom lip to keep from rambling about their distaste in their art anymore. They didn't want to bother him with that. After a few moments, they sighed and tucked a strand of hair behind their ear. "You're welcome to watch me paint and scream in frustration if you want." they joked, but it was still true.

He blinked. Wait, seriously? Batting eyelashes? Phew. Pol mentally gave himself a good shake. He needed to be smooth about this. "So," Pol sidled up next to Váli. "Are you gonna finish that one or start a new painting?"

Váli blinked. They hadn't expected him to actually want to watch them paint. They cleared their throat loudly and ducked their head as they picked up a blank canvas and rested it against the easel, setting aside the other painting. That could wait. "Ah, I want to try something, but I doubt you're up for it." they kept their head down as they set up the paints and grabbed a handful of brushes.
