The Shining [Human Fantasy]

Camp Cedarledge. Where supposed "cherished memories" are made.
And where those gifted with the shining do battle with the darkest evils..

No one can claim to know exactly what the shining is, how it works, or how it comes about. No psychologist, physician, or scientist can explain it. Some see things such as murders or deaths that have happened in the past, some get premonitions on what is to come, some sense others thoughts, and some glimpse things occuring in completely different places.

Those who shine can sense others with the same gift, and can come in all varieties of strength. The brighter one shines, the darker and more dangerous things one will attract. Some shine so powerfully in the dark that they bring to life the very things that watch them and lurk if they stay in a place populated with evil for too long, often calling them to the point that one does not have to shine to see them.

Camp Cedarledge is abundant with tall tales and ghost stories of kids drowning, cords breaking while rock climbing, getting trampled by horses.. Most dismiss these as the lore of the camp. But those with the shining know better, as water logged, fish food blondes stagger out of the lake and screams are emitted regularly from an area southeast from camp, near the rocky hills that infatuate the future geologists.

Camp Cedarledge is never at rest, despite how calm it may look. Therefore, neither are those who can see the unspeakable horrors of the camp.

Camp Cedarledge is located in Nowhere, Montana. Some willingly came, some had to be dragged by wild horses (or at least by their dad.) The ages vary from extremely young, to nearly adults. Common age range is six to eighteen (why any older teen would come out of their own choice is unknown to me.)

There are many "fun" activities, rather juvenile, though "fun." There is arts and crafts, canoeing, equestrian events, hiking trails, "survival classes" for the older campers (they basically give you a bottle of water and set you loose in the middle of the woods), and big, happy bonfires every night with annoying camping songs that would drive anyone to madness.

There are counselors with funky nicknames like "Sunny," "Zoog," and other weird stuff, most of them are strangely optimistic and cheery. (Kill me now?) Nearly all are unaware of those who shine, save for one woman, a brunette whose camp name is, rather comically, "007." She herself does not understand the shining, but she knows of it, as she also shines.

There are eight cabins, four for each gender, that span one edge of the lake. Each cabin houses six people. There are a few counselors cabins and a main office type building that has a nurse's station and many leaflets on the different activities available, along with a list of rules all campers must follow.

"Camp Rules"

1. No powerplaying, Godmodding, et cetera. You should have this memorized by now.

2. Romance, violence, and other such things should be kept PG-13, as per CS rules. Romances must be kept secretive as it is not allowed in camp. Pets and the like are also not allowed.

3. There is a limit of two characters gifted with the shining per player. No exceptions.

4. I don't expect anymore from you than I do from myself. If you have writer's block, just say so, so we don't think you're -specifically- brushing us off.

5. AT LEAST two paragraphs per post, I expect more if you have several characters.

6. No drama in OCC. Got something against someone? Keep it to yourself. If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

7. Follow all forum rules. I don't expect to have to stress this, but better safe than sorry.

Anna isn't one to be commited to one thing, but much rather many things. She is quite good at multitasking, although she doesn't do it very often. She is a very warm person who is open with almost anyone, and doesn't have many enemies. Life. You live it and learn to love it. Merideth? Hah. She loves and lives life to it's fullest.
Laughing? How about hystericale laughter? Yep, laughing is the best medicine and one of Merideth's habits. She laughs at stupid things like someone tripped or getting hit in the head with a ball.
Pow. Yeah, that's an onomatopoeia for 'ya. It's also a word you can use to decribe that double take you'll do when she walks into a room with a bright smile.
Of course, the double take would just be something you do even though there's not much to it, just a great smile, and everyone just suddenly subconciously brightening up.
Brightening up your day is a favourite of Merideth's, even if she can't brighten up her own.
Ahh... Determination. Everyone's got some determination for something in them, though Merideth puts hers out a little too much, and makes it look like she would turn 'Truth Or Dare' into 'Dare or.... Screw it. Just Dare.' So bascially Daring and determination fit into this somehow. Has, once she puts her mind into something there's no stoping her, but Merideth will also take anything you give her (Challenge wise) and try to complete it as soon as possible, with all her best effort.
Superman, Wonderwoman, Green Lantern. What do they all have in common? (Aside from being superheros and stuff.) Bravery. I personally suggest making Merideth a superhero on the spot, as she is brave enough to walk into a dark room full of spiders and bats, but she is not fearless. No one is fearless.
Random? Of-potatoe-course that would be the answer to -Describe Merideth With One Word Without Using Crazy- Random laughter, random words at random times, random jokes, random anything.
Excitement and Giddiness. You'd usualy feel these emotions on Christmas day or something, but not for Merideth. This chick gets over excited about everything, even the little things.
You know the saying about how the curiosity killed the cat? Well, that exactly it for Merideth Finnely, who will walk into a club for just guys because she heard glass break, or will walk into a dark alley way with creeps inside it because she heard something. This is a fault I guess.
For those people who luagh at Dumb Blonde Jokes, Merideth will prove you wrong because as she may look like she would pass with low 70's, Merideth passes with high 90's in her academics and has quite a bit of common sense, when she decides it is of necessary usage.
Merideth may love to help others, but she is very indapendant and has a little thing against having to work with someone, though she is nice enough to accept the partnership and get her work down.
Well, as self-less has she can be, there are a few things that she will bite your head off if you try to take- like her stuffed white tiger that is missing an eye and has a hole in it's shoulder. Yes, she is very possessive of this item that she believes is vital to her very existance. But other then that, she doesn't mind sharing or giving her services out to anyone. (Also a pretty dangerous flaw if you think about the crime rate these days.)
Loud? Well, depends on how you mean it. In laughter, yes. In clothing, yes. In regular speach, she isn't all that loud. It must be the most normal thing about her.
A flirt? Naweh. Merideth prefers to use her firendly-ness to expand her vast list of buddies, instead of flirting with them. Though, she might joke around a bit when she feels like it.
Adventurous? My god yes! Merideth always loves adventures, ever since she was little and had discovered that the front doors actually lead to somewhere else that she could then indapendantly explore.
If there's more, then I guess you'll have to actually talk to her to find out. (I think the personality is pretty long.)
Description:
Standing at only 5'5, Merideth is a tad short for her age, and her long legs are no help with size, though she does look the 115 pounds she weighs.
Merideth has foggy grey/blue eyes that have a small green/hazel tint to them, but the right eye is covered by the side-cut of her blonde hair that tumbles over her shoulers to the ends of her shoulder blades in a messy of blonde waves.
Clothes? Matching and colours are an obsession of Merideth's, and her outfits usually portray what mood she is in at the moment.
Merideth smiles a lot, so she makes she sure her teeth are always as white as she can get them, which is pretty bright and white, so that anyone she is cheering up doesn't have to glance at any yellow on her teeth.
Now, this just couldn't be complete without the mention of the nose piercing, could it? At the age of fifteen (Young,I know), she lost a bet and had to pierce her nose, which now carries either a gold ring or a diamond stud. Then there's her ears, but who cares? A lot of people have ear piercings these days.

Ryan is very easily entertained or agitated. Though Ryan is usually calm and quiet, he gets up and rowdy when insulted or asked to be a part of something. He simply loves being involved and meeting new people. Once he's around people he knows, he opens up more then usual and is a little bit more talkative.
When Ryan isn't around people he knows, he's usually quiet and rarely speaks. When he does speak, he tends to keep his eyes away from who he's talking to, acting as if he really doesn't care. But again, once invited to do something, he perks up, looks away and gets a little rowdier.
Ryan is usually one of those guys you see laughing and boasting about how much better he is then his guy friends. He loves to play a joke and mess with people, getting himself into a lot of trouble.

Standing at 5'10", and weighting around 165 pounds, Ryan is mostly muscle (though he keeps this well hidden). His fingers are a little rough and callused due to his daily routine he used to have back at home, which consisted of, well, weight lifting. Rather short at 4'9" and weighting in at 90 pounds, Riley's a small cookie. She keeps herself perfectly clean and her hair perfectly straight, basically fearing flaw. Ellai is.. different to say the least. The concept of "personal space" is unknown to her and she tends to get too close to people for comfort. She is slightly obsessive and known to fawn over things she finds cute, amusing, or interesting - people included. Having originally been from Sweden, and a member of the Sami (better known to most as "those reindeer people), she has a love for all that can be found outdoors, and is usually wandering off somewhere in a quest for something, or nothing at all.
Despite her love of most all things, she tends to get rather aggressive towards people she doesn't like (mostly those she considers "shallow.") She has been known to burst out randomly (usually commenting on the color of someone's underwear) and often yells random lines from movies, just to see if any knows where the quote is from. ("I got the TiVo!" |D) She is rather anti-romantic and would prefer to watch people get horribly mangled in Halloween II to the sentiment of The Notebook.

I'll eat this guy for breakfast.' He's arrogant, but he actually has a 'multiple personality' of sorts. One side of James is loud, arrogant, cocky, heartbreaker, and a general schmuck. The other side of a little quieter, sweet, thoughtful, and kind. James rarely shows the latter side to anyone, because all his life he's been taught he needs to be tough. And, according to his abusive, alcoholic father, 'tough' guys aren't nice.
