This weeks' roleplay name: The Plague

It's the summer of 1349 just outside of London in Windsor Castle. The royal family moved from the palace inside the city to the palace outside, taking all the court with them. Their reason for the move: The Black Death. The feared disease just recently arrived in England from other parts of the world. For the time being, the royal family and their court is staying in Windsor until the Plague goes away. Their hope is that minimal people will be affected. Days are spent hunting, riding, picnicing and a whole variety of other ways on their palace grounds, but the fear of the fatal disease is ever-constant. People try to isolate themselves from others, especially common people. Many court people think that all the precautions are silly, thinking that they too high and mighty to be infected, but like the chance to he away from the city.

A bit of info on the Plague: People didn't know what caused it, and so a variety of different 'solutions' were tried. One of them was killing all the cats and dogs, but that made it worse because it was the fleas on the rats that brought the disease. Some people thought it was the bad smell, so they would carry flowers. The court people still have their pets in this rp, however some are wary around them.

Rules:
All of you should know normal rp rules, so I won't bother repeating.
You cannot be anyone, the king, a duchess, a kitchen I don't care. Max fve royals
3 charries max, only one may be royal.
Accepting unlimited people, but accepting closes Monday
We will start when there are at least 3 people and 6 charries.
You do not have to be historically accurate, just try to be reasonable. (No guns, cars, for goodness sake.)

Name: Mehela Soranly
Rank: Young Duchess in the Making
Description: Mehela is tall, skinny and lanky. She almost always has a tan from hours spent outdoors. Her eyes are a plain brown, but can change to greenish brown when she's been outside for a long time. Her hair is curly and hazel, and would make wonderful finger ringlets if she didn't keep it cut at a short ear-length.

Personality and History: Mehela and her mother joined the royal court when she was just 5. Her father had died several years before, leaving her mother a weathly widow. She married a duke which made her a duchess, so they joined the court. Mehela often wishes that she wasn't being 'trained' to be a duchess, she much preferred the wild outdoorsy life she had. So often she dons a bit of a disguise and heads for the outside of the castle and palaces. She loves riding, swimming and falconry, as well as archery. But mostly riding.

Personality and History (4 lines or a few more): Christina is shy but is quite friendly once you get to know her. She doesn't know how to read or write, but would like to learn to.
Christina never had a family, as far as she knows. Her Duchess, Marie Egnold, told her that she was just left on her steps, so she decided to take her in. She is terrified of The Black Plague and does not want to catch it. She absolutely adores Finny the 10 year old Gardener, as he so often keeps her company when he's done his chores.

Marie has dark brown hair all piled up, and there will always be two curled pigtails at the ends. She's quite skinny but tall, and she has dark brown eyes.

Personality and History: Marie is a cunning duchess with the wits of an owl. She can be quite quick on her feet, and she's very good at pursuading people to do things for her.She's deceitful and sly. Not very many people support her, but they do admire her from afar for her unique talent of pursuading. Some even pretend to be friends with her because they want to see how she pursuades so they themselves can pursuade bakers and such to lower prices of food when buying.
Marie, however does have a kind heart in some ways, and takes pity on others, like when she took in Christina.
Marie is just like her mother, Evelynn Egnold, who just recently passed away. They were both people that people seemed to admire in some ways they never understood. She never knew her father, but she reckons he either died from the Plague, or he just left and escaped this treacherous time, never even pausing to get to know her for a minute or two. Her mother always thought that he was a wonderful kind man who would never just leave others for the sake of an epidemic. He would take them with him.
Marie thinks Finny is her little patch of sunshine, always trying to make her smile when she's down.

Name: Erin Somerset

Description: Erin has long, light brown hair and bright green eyes, the same as her brother. She is very tall for a girl with strong arms and legs from riding between the castles. She is most comfortable in a short riding tunic and tights, but when she is in the castle, she will wear a blue or green skirt and white blouse.

Personality and History: Erin has basically been working with horses all her life. Her father was a groom and her mother was a seamstress. When she was 9 or 10, her father was kicked in the head and instantly died. After that, her mother started slowly keeping away from her brother and her, and now Erin barely ever talks to her. With that backround, she became independant girl with a firery temper. She hates the idea that women should be docile to men, but she hides it behind a veil of politeness.

Description: Gilian has short, dark brown hair with bright green eyes, the same as his sister. His tanned skin is flecked with scrapes from wild birds. He is a little shorter then one of his age and has a wirery frame.
Gender: Male
Personality and History: Gilian has been taking care of his sister ever since their father died, comforting or calming her when the situation demanded it. He is the only one she will confide in, and he takes that responsibility very seriously. Besides someone messing with his sister or with his birds, nothing can really bother him. The falcons are very loyal to him, probably because of his gentle fingers and kind words. Because of this, his master is more then a little jealous and beats him for the slightest sign of insubordinance.

Name: Malakay Vela
Rank: King's adviser.
Description: Hair so black and inky it shines almost like ice in the bright sunlight while his eyes do so even indoors, bright and piercing. Malakay's skin is sickly pale, but as this has always been a trait of his most do not worry about his possibly procuring the disease. He stands a full five foot ten off the ground, oddly tall for a man back then, even of his stations. Having served in the military when he was younger his muscles are toned and formidable, as is his presence.

Personality and History (4 lines or a few more): (I'll be brief about the personality, as I would rather RP it out.) Malakay is extremely cold and manipulative, the typical villainous adviser despite genuinely having the best intentions possible for his country. He is very pompous and dislikes the lower classes greatly, but will not be cruel to the castle's servants and their families.
As I mentioned, in his prime youth Malakay served as a high ranking officer in the military, rising in station constantly until one day an enemy knocked him off his horse which immediately panicked and charged, trampling his leg and crippling him despite all surgeon's attempts. The King immediately took him on as an adviser and he has risen in favor since then, suggesting the oddest methods for curing the plague. His worst, which he has yet to suggest, is burning the lower residencies were the disease is most pronounced.

Description: Greatly tanned skin, almost seeming golden after years in the sun. Despite his constant carrying around of heavy products his build is rather lanky, which suits his average height. Luke has shaggy, strawberry blond hair that falls in uncared for locks almost to his shoulders and brilliant green eyes that are always alight with laughter.

Personality and History (4 lines or a few more): Luke is very carefree most of the time and always ready for a practical joke, though he knows when to be serious. He loves children and often tries to brighten the spirits of the sick or frightened ones, though he takes care not to come too close. His parents were both merchants and insisted he take up the trade, but his goal has always been the job he suited much more closely- a court jester or comedia actor, playing none other than the "rubber clown". He has taken multiple classes in acting and such, but his parents always forced him out and yelled that he had brought shame on their family.
