Thaia raised an eyebrow, "move" she said, "your in my spot". Thaia flopped down on the seat, forcing Kaden to move over. She stretched out, her shoulder and feet accidentally knocking Kaden's. She patted the futon to her left, "take a seat" she said to Aidah, smiling. Looking over to Kaden, she discovered that he held the chips and remote captive. Althaia grabbed a couple of the cheese flavoured covered chips and chomped them down. She wiped the flavouring from around her mouth and gently pulled the remote from his grasp. Althaia looked at Kaden's hair, she swore it was black less than a minute ago, these people were defiantly more similar to her than she first thought. Thaia muted the large plasma screen TV and listened carefully. She could faintly pick up the sound of light footsteps on the bottommost floor of the penthouse, and her expression turned serious, "they're in the house" she said, looking from Kaden to Aidah.

Aidah took a shaky breath, staring around the room. It had sort of just settled that right now they were skipping school. Yeah, at first it had been an emergency, what with Thaia's rapid and painful transformation, but now they were supposed to act normal, while breaking all of the rules ever? That was not okay with Aidah. And yet, she still wanted to hide her identity from whoever was currently coming down the hall. "Why did they even follow us?" she whispered, settling down into a chair across from Kaden and Thaia. "Did they see us using our powers?"

Aidah felt like they only had a few moments before they had to explain something, and she felt like "acting normal" wasn't quite enough. There were going to be questions, and they needed an action plan, a way to answer them. "Should we disguise ourselves or something?" she asked, her eyes flicking nervously from side to side. She glanced at the bag that she had brought from home, then to school, and now here. Inside was the suit, the thing she had designed to hide her powers and her identity. Could now be the time to use it? "I don't suppose you have a secret lair or anything," she said, laughing nervously. No, Aidah, don't be stupid, she thought, reprimanding herself for asking such a dumb question. Life isn't a comic book. The footsteps down the hall were getting increasingly louder. Aidah popped a chip into her mouth, her hands smoking slightly from the nerves.

"Wow, MIT? That's pretty impressive," Katie said, smiling at the dark-haired teen. "So do you like, build robots or something?" she asked, putting her chin in her hands and gazing up at Tony. "And you drink some coffee this morning? Because you're a little jittery," she said, laughing at Barry. He looked like he was about to explode, and Katie wasn't sure if that was a regular thing for him, or if he was just hopped up on caffeine. Katie loved coffee. It was what fueled her in the mornings; she was pretty sure that her body was 80% water, 10% caffeine, and 10% high-octane sass.

But Tony didn't look impressed or even interested in Katie at all, and that was starting to irritate her. How could anyone be such a downer? "Hey, are you alright?" she asked Tony, looking at him concernedly. Katie was pretty much always happy or excited, so it bothered her that someone could look so bored.

"No" Althaia answered Aidah question with a shake of her head, "I have no idea why they followed us, they are probably delinquents though" she said with a slight laugh. She could clearly see the wisps of smoke coming from the girl's wrists and hands but said nothing. Thaia thought for a second, propping herself up on her elbows, "I don't think they saw anything". She shook her head again, "and we can't disguise ourselves, If they saw three teenagers come in here, they would be more than a little surprised if they saw three, well" she paused and shrugged, "freaks?" she said it more as a question than an answer. Althaia did consider her a freak, she was unnatural, she would not be the way she was if she hadn't been tampered with. "And sadly there is no secret lair" then she paused, "but it's not a bad idea" Althaia scratched her head in a manner of thinking. After a brief pause she looked from Aidah's leaf green eyes to Kaden's rich brown ones.

"Okay here is the story" she said, "I was feeling sick, vomit sick, I ran back home, knowing I had medication" Althaia climbed over the back of the lounge and moved quickly over to the kitchen. She then opened multiple cabinets and finally pulled out a small bottle of pills, which she rattled. "when I got home, I threw up, all over you too" she pointed the bottle at Aidah then Kaden, "I'll grab you too some 'spare'" she made quotation marks with her fingers, "clothes, then I'll call in sick" Althaia pointed the pill bottle to the home phone, which sat on the coffee table between the lounge and chair where Aidah and Kaden sat. "Then we'll walk down stairs to 'grab' something, and we'll see who's down stairs and confront them" Thaia slammed her bottles of pills with a large smile, "how about it?"

Kaden Lange :: Mockingbird

"That," Kaden pointed at Althaia, "Is disgusting." He hopped off the couch to lean on the counter separating the living room from the kitchen, with a troublesome grin he twirled the pill bottle. "We'll get 'em good if those suckers think they have anything on us. Who do they think they are anyways? Followin' us up here." He tsked, flicking the bottle across the counter, knocking Thaia's knuckles. "Whoever they are, they're bad news, and we best be vigilant, okay?"

Kade stifled a laugh, "On the topic of disguise though," He squinted at Aidah for a moment, and then scrunching his face, he morphed it perfectly to match her features. With heavy hands, he dragged his hair back, down his neck, and into long luscious orange locks he dropped over his shoulders. A twist and a cringe and he was slimmer and shorter and overall much more attractive than he was moments ago, taking Aidah's form did wonders for his complexion too. "I have no problem disguising myself. I am particularity prolific when it comes to the art of camouflage." He chirped in her voice, blinking his new big doe eyes with a soft smile. "I don't think these clothes suit you though, you look much better in your own clothes." Kaden frowned, picking at his baggy clothes on his smaller feminine frame.

Althaia watched as Kaden changed. His form became thinner and more delicate, feminine. Her skin paled and tinged green as she leant over the sink and retched. Coughing she pulled away and wiped her mouth with a tea towel. "That was unnatural and gross and you will never do that in front of me ever again" She said, though the corner of her lips turned up in a slight smile. Thaia laughed nudging him with her elbow, "please warm me next time". She looked into Kaden's now green, eyes squinting, "thats..." she couldn't even finish her sentence. Althaia looked from the real Aidah to the fake one, "you're identical" she said softly, "well" she grinned mischievously, "real Aidah does look better in her clothes"

While looking from Aidah to Kaden she had an idea. "Could you transform into someone from a picture?" she asked curiously, a plan forming.

Aidah's eyes widened as she saw herself standing right in front of her, like a mirror. "Okay, that's amazing," she said, studying Kaden's new features. "You must be like a chameleon; I bet if we took a sample of your dermis, we'd find chromatophores." She looked at him in wonder, her mind working. "You mimic the appearance of others almost as easily as a mockingbird mimics noises." Tearing her eyes away from Kaden, Aidah looked to Althaia and considered her story about being ill. "I think it sounds good," she said. "Or as good as we're going to get in ten minutes when they find us up here."

Aidah turned back to Kaden, still surprised and awed. "So I guess since you guys have shared, I should share mine," she said, suddenly feeling nervous. What if they think I am dangerous, or strange? she thought, looking at her own hands. Aidah, their powers were more dangerous and strange than yours, you'll be fine, a voice whispered in her head. Swallowing, she opened her palms and let the heat that had been building inside of her escape in the form of a dancing flame. She let the little fire wind around her fingers, changing it to the shape of a snake, then a bird and letting it fly around the room. The fire animal settled on her hand and dissipated into ash. Seeing a candle on Althaia's desk in the corner of the room, Aidah pointed at it and it lighted, without her being anywhere near it. "Stephen King coined the term Pyrokineses in his novel Firestarter. I guess you could say I'm the real Charlie McGee."

Kaden Lange :: Mockingbird

Kaden jumped back in surprise as Thaia retched into the sink. "Oh my god I'm sorry I didn't mean to ohmygod." He sputtered, his hands raised in defense and innocence. The startle dulled his hair a bit, losing its red intensity. Kaden relaxed as Thaia laughed, and he couldnt help but join in too, the corner of his eyes crinkling. He had never willingly fully transformed in front of people that weren't scientists poking at him with needles, and it was simply liberating. He could feel the weight lifted off his shoulders as the two girls stared in wonder and awe, not fear and revulsion. Thaia smirked, and Kade knew that look, his face dropping a little. She was up to something now. "A picture? Yeah, yeah totally, I mean its a little bit harder cuz I cant really study the 3D shape but it can be done to a certain extent." He pursed his soft pink lips, forgetting momentarily that he was not himself and decided it would be best not to lick them. That would be a little violating, he decided, seeing as Aidah was someone he respected and he didn't exactly ask to 'steal her body'.

Turning to Aidah, he lit up. If there was someone else in this room that understood what exactly he was capable of doing, it was her.
"Exactly!" Kaden exclaimed, grinning eat to ear, "I'm practically packed with them. Mostly its mutated melanophores but my eyes and hair and stuff are loaded with everything from xanthophores to even cyanophores! The only chormatophores we haven't found are iridophores, because those rather reflect light to change colour than physically change the colour of the dermis. So basically Im not iridescent or metallic in colour." He fiddled and pinched at his hand to demonstrate it changing skin tones, from Aidah's fair pale to a dark chocolate black to a rich tan. He lifted his hand to show off a mottled calico appearance. "So far I can only change my skin to be different skin tones, so I can't just mutate myself bright blue, but like I said, my hair and nails hold those chomatophores."

Keeping his face turned away from Althaia, Kaden mutated back to his normal self with ease, filling his clothes out and pulling his long hair up into a ponytail with his hands until it shrunk back (which took a bit longer than it did to grow), and shook it out into his signature curls. The colour of his hair was always troublesome, so he left it as a rusty auburn. "I have control over my colours, but I have to dedicate focus to keep myself looking a certain way. When Im distracted by emotion, like shock or anger, the cells change on their own and I don't even know it." He explained, scratching his head. "This is what I look like though, completely natural, Im not forcing any changes." He pulled on a strand of hair to check its colour, and released it back to his rusty blond. "Yeah there. My hair isn't good at cooperating." He smiled shyly. "As for the fact I can physically change, that's all mesenchymal stem cells. But uh, just chrondocytes and adipocytes. I mean, um, cartilage and fat cells. I can't manipulate bone growth, but I can manipulate the cartilage between joins and fat to take appearance of other people. Its really messed up." Kaden bit his lip, looking down at his knees. It was liberating to tell others about just what makes him who he is, but it was also terrifying, letting out these deep secrets and inner knowledge to his biology. It seemed almost like sacred information. Aidah's look of wonder though softened his worry, she wasn't afraid of him, she was curious and interested and he knew he was safe with these people. "Mockingbird," He aptly repeated, "I like it."

Then it was Aidah's turn to share, and while Kade had already gotten a little peak at what she could do, he still wasn't entirely sure to what extent she could manipulate her powers. "Holy-" He swore as the flame in her palm twirled and danced, and a small bird burst from the flame and zipped around the room. The light enraptured him, he laughed as it flew around the room and back into Aidah's hand, vanishing in a wisp of smoke. Kaden wet his lips. Staring at Aidah, he simply whispered, "Beautiful." His eyes full of awe as she lit the candle. Now that was a superpower. That was an offensive power, that could do damage and be used practically. Kaden's power was strictly defensive, he couldn't do any practical stuff with his powers but camouflage and disguise himself. Change and hide like a coward. But pyrokinesis was a miracle power. Not some weird biological mutation.
