Don't worry, I'm bad too. I found the Polybius a few months ago while searching Snopes.

Hehe... I search forms for good stories like a bloodhound tracking a trail.
I find many but I only keep the mysterious, chilling ones.
Sometimes.
im basically never on, so if you wanna with trade me or if you message me, be prepared to wait a while for a response. this account is first and foremost a personal archive for sentimentality's sake as it was a big part of my childhood.

And here's some MORE terrifying stories!

1.
Your cell phone rings, and it’s a number you don't recognize. You shrug, and answer anyway.

You-Hello?
Caller-May I have five minutes of your life?
You-Sure…

The caller hangs up.
You feel FIVE FREAKING MINUTES OLDER!

2.
I was out on the west coast on a business trip a few years ago. I had been out there for a few days and every day I had gone into this little diner right across from the motel where I was staying. It was saturday and my flight was going to leave in a few hours. I ordered a coffee and the waitress that bought it to me was different than the one who had been there on the weekdays. I noticed that the lid was orange and mentioned to her that I hadn't ordered decaff. She responded that they hadn't gotten their order in that week and that the other waitresses had been serving decaff rather than regular coffee. At that moment I dropped the cup and screamed.

I HAD BEEN DRINKING DECAFF!

No no, I'm kidding XD
Here's one I recieved as a text...
The next time you blink after you read this message...whatever you do, don't open your eyes for at least 30 seconds...

(I don't think there are any cuss words, but if you spot any tell me!)

Self Preservation

If you’re reading this, then I am hopefully long gone. It’s been… two months now since the meteor struck Mississippi. There was a lot of public interest in it, astrologers and the like all gathering around for a look. They took samples of the rock and shipped them all over the world to museums in every country. Hell, I almost made a trip to have a look myself, but I had an interview with a potential employer. If he hadn’t called me up the previous day, I’d be dead now. Three days later, after the initial hype died down, the news reported nothing on the meteor for a couple of days.

The next thing I heard about it was when I got home from the pub and turned on the late-night news. I was just in time to catch a breaking news article. The worried-looking reporter informed me that almost everyone who had been in the vicinity of Mississippi when the meteor went down had been hospitalised. Their symptoms were similar to those that a corpse experiences during decomposition. Ten people had already died, mostly the elderly and the very young. Scientists and geneticists from all over the globe were working frantically to try and find a cure. Being smarter than the average bear, I gathered some supplies and prepared for an epidemic. Years of being paranoid beyond reason was finally about to pay off.

The news the next day had a lighter tone. A Chinese scientist had worked out that the meteor had contained an alien strain of bacteria that slowly broke down flesh tissue. The scientist also remarked that the bacteria were only affecting humans. He had also worked out that if a victim consumed a living being, such as an insect, it would delay the progression of the bacteria, giving the scientists more time to figure out a permanent cure. Anyone who thought they may have contracted the infection was to eat as many live creatures as they could. The reporter also explained that the US Army was attempting to contain the infection.

They failed.

Anyone who has read Stephen King’s book, The Stand, will have an idea of how the bacteria made its way around the world. It passed through the air, but to catch it, you had to be near someone infected. Because the symptoms took between three to five days to kick in, people didn’t realise that they were infected. In a week, Victus Somes Disease, as it had been named, was global.

I had barricaded myself in my house, with towels and blankets stuffed into every crack. I had the TV tuned to the news all day and night. The scientists had not predicted that the bacteria would adapt to the infected people’s efforts at trying to keep it at bay. Victims all over the world were claiming that the insects were no longer working. People were starting to catch small mammals and eat them.

As the days went by, people were slowly eating larger and larger animals. The first reported case of cannibalism was, ironically, the last broadcast made. The anchorman’s hair was falling out and he was missing three teeth. He nervously told America that there had been a reported case of cannibalism in Southern Europe. He also said that there would be no further broadcasts. All survivors were to lock themselves in their house and not let anyone in.

For the next week and a half, I watched the infected shamble up the street, knocking on doors. One of my neighbours, a couple of houses down from me, was stupid enough to open the door. Three people dragged him out and started biting his flesh. They started with his arms and legs, trying to keep him alive for as long as possible. They were crying as they ate. Their meal was shrieking in pain, and the three people eating him were apologising furiously through mouthfuls of his arm. I don’t think they were unable to control themselves; it looked more like they were disgusted by what they had to do to stay alive.

They tried to break into my house five or six days later, but my barricades held. They were outside, begging me to let them in. “Just one bite. Please, be generous.” I listened to their pleading all night, too scared to sleep.

I suppose I should explain why I’m writing this. I’m infected. Yesterday I coughed and lost a canine. I spent the night pulling out my teeth, easing them out one by one. It didn’t hurt; they just slid out, like pulling up carrots. Anyway, as I was saying, I’m infected. The bugs have stopped working, and all the wild animals have long since run away. I have decided to lure someone into my house and attack them. It sounds so wrong writing that out, but I don’t want to die. And I’m so hungry.

I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.

August 14th, 2045

I'm watching the news in my new apartment in New York. The TV screen looks like the sun compared to my dark room with the curtains drawn and door blocked. The reporter is smiling but I can tell it's forced. He's telling whatever uninfected there are what the future of North America is. The reporter must be infected, he just doesn't know it yet. His hair is falling out and little globs of it are on his shoulders. A tooth is coming loose. His visible skin is turning purple and a little is hanging on by only a strand.
"The President has announced that D.C. will be unavaible for the next decade when scientists have predicted the infection will end. The states are being told to depend on themselves until further notice. Citizens are also being told to stay inside at all times unless getting food. The infected are everywhere and people are being told to carry guns with them everywhere." The reporter starts having rough coughs that make his body shake. And he doesn't stop. His hands go around his neck and he falls out of his chair. The last thing I see before turning off the news are the camera people rushing to his aid.

I think about what he said. North America is now fifty countries. You're dead unless you own a gun. Oh, yeah and you're on your own. The room is completely dark now. The clock says 7:30 a.m. I go to the windows and open the blinds slowly. About half way though I just rip them across and almost fall down. The city is in ruins. There's smoke coming from the Empire State Building. Cars are deserted in the streets. And out of the corner of my eye I see one. I see an Infected. From this height I can't see every detail, but the skin is purple and almost gone. The Infected is bald but scraps of hair still remain and it's toothless and hunched over like every step takes all of it's breath. And the Infected is coming to my building. It looks up and I don't realize how familiar it looks.
Mom . . .

August 31, 2045

The Infected have invaded my building. Yesterday I heard the screams of my next door neighbor. She was actually kind of stupid. She never did keep her door locked. The screaming stopped soon enough but there were still whimpers and the occasional crunch of bone. I wasn't as dumb. My door is bolted and boarded down. I hear them bang against my door. They won't quit. It's actually getting frightening now. I watched too many horror movies as a kid. They won't give up. They won't give up. And as I'm typing this I know my mother is one of them. All of my brothers and sisters, are Infected.
I just hope the door holds. I looked through the peephole once but instantly threw up at the sight.
I hope the leave soon. I need to find food. My refridgerator and pantry is almost empty. I shut the blinds so I can't see out.

November 1, 2045

It's amazing I've survived so long. I've gotten the attention of the Uninfected countries of South Asia. They have given me food from my window but don't dare try to rescue me for fear of the Infected. I don't mid. I'm safe and I have food. The only thing I'm missing is the electricity. Even since D.C. quit on America no one has had access to the electricity plants. It's cold all the time now and snow falls in from cracks that maintance crews will never fix again.
I wear all my heavy clothes it seems at once.
And the Infected are still in my building. They lefts me alone but I know they'll come back. And I'll never try to run. Running is too dangerous now. They're everywhere and whenever I do look out the window I see them raiding remaining stores and I cry my self to sleep everytime I see another human. Like last night. I saw an Uninfected. I looked into her eyes. She looked only thirteen and fought against the Infected. That was the first time in my life but I cried for someone I never knew. And I watched her die.

January 4th, 2046.

Happy New Year. The food supplies have stopped and once again I'm hungry. I've seen the girl's face in my nightmares every night since that day. Deep in my heart I know she's not alive as an Uninfected anyway. She's an Infected now. In my fury I kick down my window and after a year of no maintence they shatter easier then glass. Now the cold is really open to me.
I curl up and sleep even though it's noon.

January 5th, 2046

The knocking at the door continues. The Infected are back. I'm almost glad. I'm tired of this solitude. I'm down to my last can of food. The cold has made my skin looked like an Infected.
Suddenly I feel around my mouth. A canine is weak. I pull it out with ease. My hair, when I pull my hands through it, comes out. Great. I knew this would eventually happen.
I'm INfected.

Feburary 1, 2046

I'm finally ready to turn off my laptop. It's almost dead anyway. I haven't been able to charge it ever since the power went out. Internet surprisingly still works. I copy and paste to my blog. It looks eerie and surprising among all the death that humans are still alive somewhere. I wonder if anyone else is still on the Internet. If they are, I hope they see it.
There's a knock on my door and it suddenly bursts down. I'm not surprised. The wood has been weakening for a year. There are more Infected.
I smile. It's like family.
