Okay, thank you. ^_^ Although she's never had any tankmates before, she seems pretty calm and easygoing. But I do have several extra tanks incase things don't work out.

My mum's been telling me not to get any fish stuff when I go shopping (Jay needs a filter) and that she has to get stuff to go along with a gift. Jay was an early gift, so I'm really hoping to get fish stuff and possibly a bigger tank for him!

Well,Merry Christmas everyone! I got a Petsmart coupon book. I've never been there, but I can actually get a whole 10 gallon aqaurium, filter, and other stuff! Might get a betta.

Did anyone do anything special for their fish or [kind of off topic] other pets? My friend gave my dog cans of sausage. Candy ate it.

Oh well, the pellets and log and leaf were uber high quality, they'll love them.

Besides the tank and giftcard, I also got two new filters (one for the goldies tank bc their old one broke and one for Poseidon the betta bc his was too strong), a bubbling air pump volcano, a pineapple house, and a little sea turtle ornament. c:

I'm love8188 and I love fish, all ways wanted them, but we live in a bus and I was never allowed them, till my sisters last birthday when she got 3 gold fish. man I was kind of angry she got them when I have been after them for years but she never feeds them so its almost like there mine...

anyway my dad almost got me a tank last week, it was 9L (I think...) and had a heater... but at the last minute he said no, anyway I am looking into the fish I want to try to get him to say yes. what I have always wanted is rooms and rooms of fish but what I wanted for a tank for my room would be male betta and 6-10 neon tetras but can they go together? can they take living in a bus and moving each week? I was told neons could get sick easy is that true? what would I need to know about my betta? someone said you can only feed them live food?

9 litres is way too small for a betta and 6+ neon tetras. You could just about maybe fit a single betta in there. 9 litres works out at 2.3 gallons which is doable but far from ideal. If you do get one make sure you get a filter (if possible cycle the tank before you put the fish in) and a heater too. Bettas are tropical fish that need heated water.
19 litres at least would be a great size for a single betta.
Neon tetras are very active fish and would need at least 75 litres/20 gallons ideally. But yes they could live with a betta if you got a big enough tank. Most bettas will eat any sort of fish food, you shouldn't need to feed it just live.
Not sure how it'd work in a moving vehicle.

Goldfish also need a huge amount of space depending on the species. You might want to talk to your sister about rehoming them or they'll die very prematurely. Depending on what type they are you're looking at 150 litres minimum for 3.

Yea I had thought the tank would be too small for neons but the lady in the shop said that the 9L was more than enough for a betta! She said that it was fin? And yea I did know I needed both a filter and heater. The thing with living in a bus is we have to take most the water out to move, vibrating ever trip and not always being on power.

Her gold fish are like 4 cm long and in 9-10L of water with a filter. I don't know what kind other than one is a is a fantail.
