Sarene Meithos • Gil'ead • Watching in amusement
Sarene leaned against Cairyn, narrowing her eyes as the dwarf burst through the academy doors. She had never got on well with dwarves; every time she visited Tronjheim, she seemed to engage in an argument with every dwarf priest within ten yards. Dwarves were just too...irritating? Was that the word?
'Ene, I believe the word you're looking for is comical, Cairyn said, his eyes bright.
Well, you can watch this disaster. I'm going to find something better to do. Standing up, Sarene gazed around the academy. She caught sight of two young girls, watching the scene unfold rather nervously. One was clutching a golden egg. Ah, perhaps I can be of some use. Sarene glided over to the teenagers, smiling. "Hello, there. I'm Sarene, and you two both look rather lost. Are you riders?" she asked, trying to seem friendly.
Ren Teod • Gil'ead • Facing the wrath of Sardonyx
Yes, Bo! In with the confusion, and out with the anger. Ren felt like he was fourteen again, trying to avoid being sent to the headmaster.
You better believe it, Ren Teod, came the gruff reply in Ren's head. I was havin' a right good sleep when you so rudely called me up here.
Ah, Bo, you know I'd never purposefully disrupt your slumber. One should never wake the sleeping dragon.
Evira wasn't asleep, I was!
Figure of speech, buddy. Ren looked at Sardonyx, trying to catch her while she was puzzling over Bo's spectacular entrance. "With all due respect, we weren't fighting to maim or injure, just to sort of, put on a demonstration. It really was in good fun," he said, trying to sound kind. Ren was kind of starting to realize that after this stunt, he probably wasn't going to be invited back to the academy any time soon.
It's not like you were invited here in the first place. You just sort of barged in, Ailla remarked, preening her claw. And Hello, Evira, how are you? Ailla loved the blue dragon. She was so kind and happy all the time, it was hard to dislike her even a little bit.
Oh, I'm dandy. Did you see the weather last night? It made for some nasty flying.
Trust Evira to find some way to talk about the weather.
Bo Faer Dsatl • Gil'ead • Backing Ren up
Bo stood fearless against the gaze of the academy director. Well, he was a little afraid, but that's beside the point. "I'm Bo Faer Dsatl, Miss, and I have all the right to speak for Captain Teod, seeing as I'm his representative," Bo said, puffing out his chest. "I come from the land of rock and stone, Miss, and I'll be beside Captain Teod 'til the day he dies."
What will happen when you die? Evira said, genuine worry in her voice.
Ev, the point is that he'll die first! Why, you think I'm going to die on you?
Aw, Bo, don't do that. You know I wouldn't want that.
Yeh' darn right don't want that, because you'd be leavin' too!
Evira nodded, her eyes still a bit fretful. Leaving Bo to his arguments, she gazed around the academy, looking at all the adult dragons. She recognized a few of them from various places, but the one that truly caught her eye was literally shining in the sun, his greenish-blue scales glimmering under the light. She blinked, her eyes wide. "Hi, there. I'm Evira. You sure do shine brightly." He was huge, even by dragon standards. Then again, maybe she was just small by dragon standards. Either way, this shining dragon towered at least a yard above her, if not more.
