I signed up to FR in the latest sign up window. The site appears to be down right now so I thought I come here to chat instead.

This may be a stupid question but in the coliseum, is the only way to improve you dragons simply to battle them?

Sadly, yeah. C: It's going to take a lot of time but you can shorten the time by checking out some of the guides made by experienced FR players. I use this guide for example c:
