Coming and making a post that would be a little off topic, but something I would like to ask:
Do any of you consider writing as an art form? I'm not the greatest of all drawers and I know it would take me years to think of a great poem, but I personally think that writing is an art form that I'm experienced in.

I consider any writing a form of art, it takes time and skill to create!
I envy those who can write and create worlds, depth, emotions, and beauty by just using words and sentences.

I wanted to post my most recent art that I just finished, its a present for a person on DA ;3;
i'm really proud on how the colors and shading turned out

I have a few questions for various people;
Code: Select all
do you prefer traditional or digital art?

Code: Select all
if traditional, painting, drawing, or other?

Code: Select all
if digital, what program do you use, and do you prefer transparent or full detail backgrounds?

Last one..
Code: Select all
how long do you usually spend on your art?

... Still no one is listening to the rule.

Anyways I will only be critiquing those who critqued others so here we go...

Stonefly: great start! The only problem I see is the ear is too small, it should go about from the lowest point of the eyebrow to the tip of the nose (give or take a little) and the ear is not attached to the jawline. For refernces of facial structure the best thing to do is to feel your own face to find where stuff ends and where other parts begin. Sounds weird, but it's super helpful!

Hazama: adorable!!!! Some things to tidy up (knit picky stuff really):
The hair is too neat. No hair is perfect without one stray piece, minus photoshopped hair ofc. It should feel more lose and free, even if it is well kept.
The jaw/chin don't come to sharp points. Just smooth the out a hair

Ok so I would like some feedback on this, MAINLY the BG as it is a photo manip and I want to get better at those (I don't want a redline of the wolf. I don't use PS for the manips)

do you prefer traditional or digital art?
I am best at traditional, but digital sells best so... Lol

if traditional, painting, drawing, or other?
Drawing and wire sculpting

if digital, what program do you use, and do you prefer transparent or full detail backgrounds?
Procreate, and full BGs

how long do you usually spend on your art?
Depends, anywhere from 2 hours- a solid week

I was pretty sure I was following the rules, since there was no art posted within the last 10 posts
A few pages back I did reply to others that have posted, and followed the rules the same as ive always done.

When posting your own art, you mustn't forget about other people's art! Everyone deserves the same amount of feedback. If there is a drawing within 10 posts of your own then you must give the artist feedback before posting your own art. Not all feedback needs to be critique, you may just as well post something nice about the artwork!

Cries then sobs bc I missed you bby I'm sorry I just kept clicking when it said some else posted
(Yes it took more than 10 mins to post that bc my iPad and I make a pathetic team)
I LOVE how angular it is, and the shading gives it a super nice glow. It seems very regal. The only Critque I have is the design itself, but that's not your doing I presume, so I'll just keep that to myself lol

oh no its fine! I understand, it happens! ;3;
and thank you! I was trying to give her the 'pretty princess' regal look, so im glad it shows!. but oh gosh that hair was a pain in my neck.

@PDCF
I like the shading you've done on the wolf as it helps blend it into the background. I have to suggest on showing a little grass infront of the wolf by his back so that he blends more into the scenery. Maybe for a last suggestion, maybe putting a layer over top of everything and overlaying it? I do this when I do a lot of my background art, idk to me it always helped with the setting with the character and the BG ;3;
I love the piece though, its very pretty <3

do you prefer traditional or digital art?
digital junky right here

if traditional, painting, drawing, or other?
if I went with traditional....probably plushies or paintings

if digital, what program do you use, and do you prefer transparent or full detail backgrounds?
I used Paint Tool Sai and a Bamboo Create tablet
and I mostly prefer transparent, but I do love BG's ;3;

how long do you usually spend on your art?
2-4 hours? I dont know it depends on what im working on but that is the average time xD

@PFDC i actually critiqued someone too.. right in between those people ;w;

anyway, something that would improve it is making the grass come up around the wolf. makes it feel like its more a part of the environment. the shading looks good, but the body looks a bit short to me and the tail should be somewhat thicker

try to blur the leaves less also. makes them look a lot less realistic ^^

@carrie911 the colors and lines are AMAZING. thatd take me weeks to do, and i have no doubt id do it badly ahaha.

OMG I'm so sorry Patrick I didn't see the link. May I draw in your pic to show you something I noticed? If not I can try and explain it without doing so but it'll be a long explanation
