'There's enough,' Burnt replied cheerfully, 'I mean, if you have the guts to challenge the humans, then you won't really go hungry.' He twitched his ears as he realised Cracker's offer, 'You're new here?' he sighed, 'There are too many stray dogs around... But it is so much fun!' he laughed. 'I guess we could travel together, if you wish.'

Cracker replied happily, her tail wagging. 'Just wondering, but what happened so that the humans left you here, or were you born here?'

Burnt flicked his ears as he tried to remember. He had lived so long as a stray that he didn't really know.
'I think that I was born here,' he replied, 'But I could be wrong.'
