hello! sorry to be a bother but i was wondering what would be some prefixes that would suit this cat? it looks as if the picture has been lightened somewhat so it's rather hard to make out the fur color. the fur doesn't appear to be all white though-like, there's some silver/gray in it? anyways, any help would be appreciated. thank you!!

Since Ailuronymy is back up, I recommend you check out the prefix list yourself to decide what would fit them best (it's been a rule of mine recently to have people give me prefixes they like instead of my tossing out suggestions). I recommend something in the white section (down at the bottom), since they seem to be white and pale grey.

Honestly, it may have been a lightened picture, and the unfortunate thing is that you can only really see the chest and face, so I can't say for sure what this cat completely looks like or what name would fit it best. My best guess is that they're white with perhaps a patch or two of grey. If you can, I suggest getting a full-body picture - or you could decide for yourself what the cat looks like exactly, and then come back to me. Right now, this is about the extent of my usefulness; I do apologize for that.

thank you for that! I appreciate it and I'm terribly sorry for wasting your time. ^^

Don't worry about it. Honestly, I'm just happy that you didn't get up in arms (I've had that happen once or twice here, it's never fun). If you decide to have those cats of yours reviewed, let me know.

Oh, don't worry, there was no time wasted. Hopefully there will be another picture that's similar enough to that cat to get a good idea of their appearance. Let me know if you need more help.

I also have a question about this cat. It's beautiful. And now, I know what you'd be saying, to find you're own name, but, do you think Leopard would work..?

thank you! i think i found a better picture. again, i'm so sorry that it doesn't show the lower half. here is the first picture. i'd imagine the lower half of the cat would look something like this cat. would silver- grey- or heron- work for a cat of this color?

Ah, yes, the ol' canon names. I was wondering when I'd get some of those.

If you isolate the names completely, all but one of them check out perfectly (at least, traditionally). Hollyleaf is great for a ginger or white cat who's a skilled healer, Bluestar/fur fits best on a blue-grey cat with no nameable skills, Fireheart for a ginger cat with a fierce moral code, and Silverstream for a sleek grey cat who specializes in fishing and swimming. The only one that doesn't work is Dovewing, as -wing isn't a traditional suffix and has no discernible meaning that couldn't be attributed to another suffix.

However, if you add the characters who own those names into the mix, then you'll find that, for the most part, they still work, save for Hollyleaf (who is neither ginger/white nor a medicine cat) and Dovewing (for the reasons above). Fireheart went by what he felt was right, even if it broke the rules, Bluefur had no real skill (though I would argue that she would do well as Blueheart, due to her willingness to nearly kill her own kits just to get to the deputy position), and Silverstream was a grey molly with swimming skills.

If you'll notice, the three names that worked perfectly for their owners are all the ones from the first series, which is actually what traditionalism is based off of. I can guarantee that if you sent in a random list of cats, the ones with the best scores would be the ones from the first series.

As for Leopard-, I don't think it would work on this cat. They do have the classic spotted pattern, but a Leopard- cat must also be either golden or brown, or a speckled torbie (who is majority brown or golden). The most similar name I can think of would be Rain- or Hail-.

Ahh, that's interesting. It looks totally different in the first picture you showed me.

Then, yes, I think Heron- would fit this cat perfectly out of the three.
