Kaii sat down heavily on a rock in the open courtyard of the castle. The young princess had been with her brother as they watched their father filter oxygen from his gills for the last time. She placed her head in her hands and bit her lower lip. Prince Sean placed a hand on his sister's shoulder a little later, having come up from behind her. The teenage boy watched Kaii before saying quietly, "we'll be alright."


It was several years after, current day, where Kaii watched her brother, now of age to be crowned, with pride and a little bit of wistfulness. The celebration now complete, Sean's first order of business -more of a party, really- was to throw a ball commemorating this day, as custom.

Sapphire was in her cave, making a new bracelet. this one had carved clam shells and perals on it.

Zero was searching through the castle garbage. He had been here before, so he knew it was safe. But, it had been a few years since then, so he didn't think anyone would recognize him. Last time, he had almost been beaten up by the chef, if Kaii hadn't come to the rescue. He sighed. He wished he could see her pretty face again, but he knew he never would.

Zeke sneaked into the back of the back of the grand room, just in time for the coronation to begin. He breathed a heavy sigh as he relaxed into his seat, trying not to draw attention to himself as he waited.

Kaii fluttered around the ball room, making sure everything was in order before she actually sat down and tried to be still and look princess-y. She missed her friends, whom she hadn't seen in a long time. She missed the once upon a time relationship she had. She missed going outside the castle walls, seeing the people and, occasionally, going to the surface. She fiddled her hands together before getting up and swimming about some more.

Sapphire quickly took a seat with the other merpeople for the coronation. she hadn't been around so many merpeople before and it made her nervous. she fingered a piece of her hair as she glanced around timidly.

Zero looked up when he heard someone yelling at him. It was a guard. Seeing an open window, he swam in quickly, ramming right into Kaii.

in the corner of the room stayed the young mermaid, Alice, watching her flirtatious brother swim around trying to charm every mermaiden working at the castle that he saw. As she stayed there, she couldn't help but look up toward the new crowned ruler ... she wondered why she was here, a mermaid like her at a place like this ... especially with her work - she felt out of place - unfitted to be a guest here ... yet something compelled her to stay ... something kept her there, by a very small sting.
