Dear Dairy/Diary/Waffles...

I locked myself into the restroom and banged my head against the stall door. Why didn't I think before I said that?! I think I'll just go home now. I knew the dance was a bad idea. I should have listened to myself. As I come out of the restroom and walk to the cafeteria door, I see someone comming towards me.

Are you ok?
Me: Huh?
I asked if you were ok. What happened?
Me: How did you know something happened?
You're tearing up a little.
Me: No I'm not. It's ok. Everything is ok.
No, I can tell its not. Tell me about it.
Me: Who are you anyway?
Sierra: Sierra. Moonbeam. Just call me Sierra, though.
She smiles at me.
Me: Oh. I'm Coal Barkmore. Um... what would you do if your were really embarrassed in front of all your friends?
Sierra: Hang out with somebody else until they apologise to you. Did your friends do that to you?
Me: Yeah. I know they were kidding, but now everyone knows who I have a crush on.
Sierra: Well, I'm sure you'll all get over it. I should be working at the face painting booth, so I need to go. If you need me, that's where you'll find me.
Me: Thanks for your help. Bye!
Sierra: Bye!

I started to walk back to the dance when I heard the principal talking into the speaker. "Now... The moment you've all been waiting for... THE WINNERS OF THE COSTME CONTEST!" The contest was very close, but we did find winners.

I didn't take pictures of them, since I left my camera in the bathroom. Whoops!

I have mixed feeling about this. Hope was my best friend, but she made fun of me. Should I be happy for her, or still mad at her? Anyway, here are the couples who won.

Couples
1. Snickers & Glamour
(Jocks and populars. Always flirting with each other.)
2. Spruce & Torch
(Heh. Spruce was named after a tree and Torch was named after fire. Last time I checked, trees and fire don't exactly mix. How ironic :))
3. Stripes & Fizzle
(Yay! I'm glad they placed, too. This will give them some self esteem about high school!)

Now I'm supposed to congratulate Hope. Should I? Does she deserve it?
There is a girl going around the cafeteria and congratulating all the winners. Most of them aren't even her friends but she congratulates them anyway. This is her.

Her name is Song. She loves animals, an is caring for some baby birds who lost their mother. She is so kind! She passes by me, sees my frown/fake smile, and smiles at me. She winks, and keeps walking. What is that supposed to mean?!
Later, I find a napkin with writing on it underneath my fruit punch cup. It reads:

Coal,
I heard about what happened with you and your friends. I know how hard it can be when your friends break your trust, but soon, everything will be better.

Song

...So that's why she winked at me! As I said earlier, Song is really nice.

Out of nowhere, BerryBloom walks up to Hope.

Berry: So... you placed in the contest, huh?
Hope: Yes...
Berry: You belong with us then. The populars. If you placed, you must be "future celebrity material." Our table is in the back. Are you comming?

*dramatic music plays*

Berry: WHAT?
Everyone in the cafeteria freezes as their jaw drops. Who wouldn't want to be a popular?
Hope: I said no. I would rather be with my best friends: Mist, who has an awesome sense of humor. Petal, the best little sister anyone could ask for. Coal, the most loyal friend I have ever met. (She thinks I'm loyal? And I'm still her friend?) Leah, who adds excitement to each and every day. Ash, who I've just met, but know that she is willing to take action to defend her friends.
Berry: Blah blah. Who cares? Don't you want to be at the top of the school? This is your only chance.
BerryBloom sounds nervous. It's pretty hard to top a speech like that.
Hope: Well, I'm fine at the very bottom as long as I'm with my friends.
Berry: ...
Everyone in the cafeteria: ...
Me: [clap.]…[clap.]…[clap.]…[clap.]…
My friends seem to catch on.
My friends: [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]
Soon, everyone in the cafeteria is giving Hope a standing ovation.
Everyone in the cafeteria: [thunderous applause]
Teachers supervising: [polite, teacher-like applause]

As the excitement dies down, the dancing and games resume. Lots of students pat Hope on the back, or give her a hi-4. (We only have 4 digits.) Hope walks towards me. I can't read her expression. I gulp. What is she going to say? I have no idea. It could be good, or bad.

Hope: Thanks.
Me: For what?
Hope: For clapping. Without you, nobody would have really clapped. And... sorry for making a big deal about Photo. I shouldn't have done that.
Me: Its ok. I forgive you.
Hope smiles at me, and says
Hope: Let's dance!
Me: o__o
Mist: Come on! I thought you like dancing!
Me: O___O You think I like dancing?
Mist: We play that dancing game on the Paw Station. (Play Station)
Me: Only the 4 of us were there. There are 1,000 of us here.
Leah: We can either dance, or sit over here all alone. I'm dancing!
Hope: Same here!
Mist: Me, too!
Petal: Count me in!
Ash: Race you to the dance floor!
Me: Fine. I'll go too. Ready, set, go!!!

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Its getting pretty hard to find different words to replace "people" or "dogs!" I haven't decided what species these characters are. They aren't people, since the pictures are of dogs. They aren't dogs, since dogs don't go to high school. So I have to refer to them as students, friends, kids, adults, family members, etc. Also, the size and italic got kind of messed up, so I couldn't make this smaller. Sorry!

Dear Diary,

Today I found you in Coal' s room in her desk drawer. I think she hid the lock, though. She forgot to close you, too. She just left you with a blank page open in the middle of her filthy desk drawer. I can't believe her. She thinks she can hide things, but she can't.

Anyway, it's my second day home from Wolfia Tec. My family and I went to the movies yesterday. I wish Beats was here so we could spend time together. He almost came to visit my family and me (yes, that is proper grammar) but he was being the DJ at some high school's Halloween Dance.

Mom says dinner is ready, so I'll head downstairs now.

Dear Waffle,
All I do is go to the bathroom for 1 minute, and Shimmer grabs my Waffle out of my desk and thinks it's hers. Did you see the things she wrote about me? And she did it all in a neon pink glitter pen so I can't erase it! I need to get back at her... but it's dinnertime. I'll finish talking about the dance when I get back.

Petal won, of course. She is the fastest runner out of the 6 of us. We danced moved around in a funny way until 7:50. Then DJ Beats-- wait. DJ... BEATS? DJ BEATS IS SHIMMER'S BOYFRIEND?! O.O She has been keeping the name of her boyfriend a secret for the past 6 weeks... [evil plan forms in my head]
Anyway, DJ Beats said he would do some more slow music for 5 more minutes, then play "This is Halloween" one more time. Photo walks up to me... slowly... hesitates, then keeps walking... The part of me that wants to keep secrets says "Uh oh" and the part of me that wants to have fun says "YOLO! This is a good thing!" They are like the angel and the devil on my two shoulders.

Photo: Uh... Hi. Coal. Um... Do you want to dance with me?
I open my mouth to speak but no words come out.
Me: Y... Um... yes...?
Smooth, Coal. Very smooth. I haven't talked to him in 3 days, so I have a funny feeling inside of me.
Photo: Ok... just... don't expect me to know any moves or anything. I've never danced before.
Me: Same here.

He takes my paw and we sort of move around in a circle. We "dance" for a while, then we stop and get punch.

Me: That was actually kinda fun.
Photo: Yeah. So... I guess we're officially a couple now.
Me: We are?!
My face lights up.
Photo: I guess... Everyone saw us together...

Hope's thoughts:
They're... dancing. Coal and Photo are... dancing. I can't believe they're dancing! Honestly, I think I could dance better than her, but I still can't believe it. I point to them the love birds on the dance floor.

Me (Hope): Psst! Guys! Look over there!
My friends look at Coal and Photo.
Mist: They're... dancing.
Petal: Coal and Photo are...
Leah: Dancing...
Ash: I can't believe they're dancing!

We stared until they stopped and got punch. Photo said something to Coal, and she smiled from ear to ear. Maybe he asked her out.

Photo had to leave because his friends were calling him. His friends all have girlfriends, so it's not a big deal to him. I return to my friends, and they all had a smirk on their face. It's the same one my brother Skyscraper has when he seals my pens, pencils, erasers, homework, all that good stuff.

Hope: Did he ask you out?
Me: What?!
Leah: He didn't ask her out. He just said that they were a couple.
Me: ... How did you know?
Leah: A spy never reveals her secrets.
Me: ... Ok ...
Petal: Congrats, Coal! You're the first one of is to get a boyfriend!
My cheeks are getting tired of blushing, now.
Me: Can you guys just not make a big deal about it?
Petal: Fine.

"This is Halloween" starts playing.
"This is gonna be the last one for tonight, so dance your heart out! I'm DJ Beats, and I hope you have fun this Halloween. Thank you for comming, you were all a great audience."

Someone who is on the dance floor: This isn't a concert, so you don't have to say all that stuff you know!
DJ Beats: Well, who cares?
Everyone in the cafeteria raises their paw.
DJ Beats: Oh.

We danced our hearts out. Before we knew it, it was 8:00 and we had to go home. scratch that. We had to go trick or treating!
We went to almost every house on Mist's block. Sadly, half of the houses had their lights off, but we still had fun. After we were done, we went to Mist's house and traded candy with each other. (I got so many of those peanut butter cups! I was glad to get rid of some.) Lastly, we went back home.

Whew! That was a lot of writing! Well, now you know what happened at the dance. Goodnight waffle, I'm going to bed.
