Fennec Foxes - update for the 2009/2010 Shima Fennecs

This might just be me, but I love the new line change because the linearts just go so much better with the rest of CS's linearts. I always thought that the old ones were just off-style, I guess, and their expressions didn't have the same cheerful, full of personality look to them that the others did. The old ones just looked kind of sullen, I suppose.... this is just my opinion though.

I am very disappointed. I do understand that we cant have the lines because it is copying, but changing the lines to some common pet we get every month hurts. The foxes where special, those lines where different. At least don't turn them into our normal lines! Im sorry. Im not being appreciative. It just isn't right.

Please keep in mind that the new lines were only created because Shima's foxes had to be replaced. We are not going to make another set of lines when we already have one that finally fulfilled it's actual purpose. If this issue hadn't existed, then we might not have recieved any new fennec fox lines that could be used for new litters.

I come back from hiatus only to find my favorite lineart has been replaced with one I don't like nearly as much. I understand that the middle stage was traced, but the final stage looks nothing like a real fox, so how can it have been traced from a photo too?

Does anyone have a picture of the image the adult stage was traced from, because otherwise it is incredibly unfair. Either redraw ALL of Shima's lineart (including the Christmas 2010 dogs' edits, the 2010 Halloween BWolf edits, the November 2010 stitched rats edits, the Shima Longtail edits, and especially the 2010 Fir Tree, since it looks heavily referenced at least) or leave the ones that haven't been traced alone.

Not hating on the work itself, the new ones look great within the limits of the new lineart, but I really prefer the old versions and don't understand why the adult stage needed to be changed.

I usually don't comment on this stuff, because I feel like whatever I say wont matter anyways. Whats done is done. But .. I can get over the line art change, but you guys could have at least kept the features of the old foxes. Like the hair tufts and a longer tail ... These were my favorite pets on CS I mean if you were going to go through the effort to change the lines, could have at least put the effort in to still make them look as unique. Much disappointment.

but thats the thing. Yes we needed the change but make them into a common fennec fox? if these were already made for the new lines for the shimas, why turn it into a common species? The new horse lines used for the rbm litter and whatnot arnt used for anything else and the drafts were...ok...i guess but they as well became too common for them to special lines. To me thats why i like stuff like malks. The lines are unique. They do t have to match the site, otherwise it would seem one person did them all. I like unique art. But the main point is that i dont think its fair to have unique lines for some of the horses but not four foxes. Like ive said before one line would have sufficed for them.

Practically eveyone loves the new fennec lines (myself included). But if you were to compare it to the old lines, there is no comparison. Not even remotely. I, as well as others, thought the new lines were separate from the old ones. And that those would get the same treatment the horses got. After all, there was no mention the new lines would bear the Shima design. So no one complained. I am certain had we had Shimas design transferred first, people would be more vocal about it.

I don't know. It just felt like all of it was swept under the rug. And little attempt was done to preserve the qualities that made those foxes desireable. I don't need to dress up my foxes to enjoy them. They displayed nicely as is. The RBM litter were a good example of an attempt at preserving the overall look where IP infringement was a concern.

This was just to dramatic of a change. Please guys don't shut the door on this one.

I don't know why everyone was expecting some brand new "special" lines when they said they were redoing the fennec lines and then a few months later we got new fennec lines during the summer event. I was like "Oh these must be the new lines for the shima fennecs".

Sure, I wasn't expecting them to become a monthly thing but I mean saying that the old, original foxes aren't special just because the lines are being used for other things is kind of a weak argument. This is an adoptable site - 90% of the pets (of the same species) have identical linearts. Making another brand new fox lineart for four foxes doesn't really make sense.
