Russetstar
Past names: Ruby, Russetpaw, Russetfang
Gender: She cat
Ran: Leader
Age: 45 moons
Eye color: Green
Fur color: Dark russet
Markings: She has a torn left ear
Family:
Mother: Dawn
Father: Bramble
Brother: Gingerstripe
Personality: Russetstar is a determined and fiery she cat that is known for not being afraid of battles that other cats would shrink from. Her temper can be red hot, but she can also show a softer side to certain cats, mostly her friends and others that she trusts. She is a great battle planner and can often use traps and feigns to win a battle with fewer losses, which is one of the reasons she was chosen as leader. She is not one to fall for toms or even think about love or having kits of her own because she sees her whole Clan as her kits, and protects them with a mother's love and fierceness.
History: As a kit, Russetstar was a rouge living with her mother, Dawn, and her brother, Red. Her name then was Ruby, and she learned the basics of hunting and defending herself from her mother. But then, a badger found its way into their den one day when Ruby and Red were six moons old, and Dawn died to save them. The siblings wandered for two sunrises, and crossed into Brightclan territory searching for food. A patrol found them and took them back to camp, where the leader at the time noticed that they had potential. There was a shortage of kits that year, so the leader allowed them to join Brightclan as Russetpaw and Gingerpaw. Russetpaw soon showed the clan that her skills in hunting and fighting were very useful, and soon outshone the other apprentices, even Gingerpaw. At twelve moons, Russetpaw earned her warrior name of Russetfang, and continued to serve her adopted clan with zeal. Many moons later, the previous deputy was killed in battle and the ageing leader, who was on his last life, chose Russetfang to be the new deputy. Only two moons later, the leader lost his remaining life to greencough and Russetstar gained her nine lives.
Gingerstripe
Past Names: Red, Gingerpaw
Gender: Tom
Rank: Warrior
Age: 45 moons
Eye color: Light green
Fur color: Ginger Tabby
Markings: Has a light stripe running down his spine
Personality: Gingerstripe is very loyal to his Clan and is very determined to do the absolute best on any task he is given, no matter if it is hunting, border patrol, battle, or going on a warrior mission, he always strives to do his very best. He does get very jealous easily, though, and tends to hold grudges longer than he should. She cats don't ever really look at him, but he would like to have a family someday, and dreams of it sometimes.
History: He was born as a rouge along with his sister. His rouge name was Red, abd he was taught the basics of hunting and fighting by his mother. At six moons, however, he and his sister were suddenly left alone when a badger attacked and killed their mother. They left their home and wandered for two sunrises, soon wandering into Brightclan territory. They were taken back to the camp and the leader at the time saw that they would be useful, as they had had few kits that year. They were accepted into the Clan as Russetpaw and Gingerpaw, but while Russetpaw was dazzling every cat, Gingerpaw was overlooked by many. He was average in his training, and slowly developed a hint of jealousy for his sister. When, at twelve moons old, he received his warrior name, Gingerstripe,he vowed that he would be important. Moons passed, and a battle between Clans resulted in the death of the deputy. To Gingerstripe's dismay, Russetfang was chosen for the deputy ship. He grew more resentful twards her, and they rarely spoke to each other. When, only a few moons later, Russetstar took her leader's place after he died, Gingerstripe finally vowed revenge. Will he get it?
Absolutely! Let's get started.
RussetstarName Suggestion: Russetclaw. If you want a different suffix, try Rowanclaw.
Name Reasoning: Russet- works fine for a dark ginger cat. As her skill lies in battle (in that she is good at combat, what with feints and the like!) she earns -claw. -fang is only for cats who are above average in hunting and fighting without excelling at either, and with that fighting skill of hers, I don't think she needs -fang!
Character Rating: 9/10.
Character Reasoning: Her story isn't half bad, in actuality. I'd give more thought to what the last leader promoted her for - was it her determination in the face of uncertainty? If that's the case, she might be the kind of cat who is hard to shake from her opinions and she may take a lot of discussion to even slightly sway her mind. This would be a good conflict in a story, actually; if you wanted to give a good central conflict, it may be that she doesn't want to back down from a threat even when it's completely unconquerable (i.e. Twolegs enroaching on their turf, or attempting to save a cat who died and whose body never showed up). Give her a motive; her motive may be to protect her Clan ideals, or it may be to protect tradition, or maybe she wants to defend her morality more than the Clan itself. Her priorities would be a good thing to think about!
GingerstripeName Suggestion: Gingerstripe or Gingerpelt/fur.
Name Reasoning: Ginger is fine on him, but -stripe is only for cats that have no skill/trait that's notable enough for a prefix while having stark stripes, or ones that are notably darker than the base pelt. Naming for a single stripe (he should have multiple, as a tabby) isn't so useful in a name (as would be naming for nose color, or eye color, or a single part of the body). Coordinating suffixes aren't so welcome in traditional naming! That said, -stripe would be just fine if you made his tabby markings notable; it'd be a shame to leave him without -stripe when it could work with a bit of modification!
Character Rating: 7/10
Character Reasoning: I have to wonder why he'd vow 'revenge' when his sister didn't really do anything. I understand he's jealous and all, sure, but harboring aggressive emotions like that towards your own sibling could manifest itself quite violently later in life (and would be a little cliche!). I'd have to wonder why he didn't just try harder, and maybe even get skilled in something enough to earn another suffix. He might excel in hunting because of his ability to focus well on a task (and he may even do this to distract him from his sister's own success later in life).
I'd also like to note that loyalty is kind of the bread and butter of warrior cats - without loyalty, there is no Clan. There's something on the front page about this if you want to read more!
