The black wolf had risen hours ago. Always an early bird, he had been able to watch the sunrise. Zephyr watched in awe as the Sun's early rays reflected off the waterfall's raging current. Just a few few colors turned into the magnificent rainbow. It was always a little peace of heaven.
Zephyr had been glad they settled here. It was quite the place. Miles of woods and this waterfall. There couldn't be a better place. His paws had taken him far and wife. The black wolf had seen breath taking places and ones that he wished he could erase from his memory. This one was making the perfect first impression.
Since the sun had fully risen, Zephyr had moved on from the banks of the waterfall. Now he laid hidden in the shadows of a monstrous oak. Low shrubs and brush helped disguised his outline. Before him two silver hares sat eating sweet flowers on the Forest floor. Their lush brown coats were slowly greying, getting ready for a cold winter. Golden irises gleaned as the hopped closer, unaware of the danger of such a small action. He could barely wait, in anticipation of their soft flesh. Suddenly he blew his cover, springing forth, jaws wide. The first hare barely escaped his teeth's mighty force. Tufts of hair was left in his mouth. They were as quick as lightning. Zephyr sprang after them. He leapt once more and managed to trip up the hare. Jaws snapped on its leg and then he finished it off. It's brown white body hung simply in his jaws. Zephyr trotted back to the oak and dropped it there. He stood beside it, looking in camp's direction but not moving towards it.

The yips of pups and songs of birds were the sweet alarm clock for Sabiya. Before opening her eyes she stretched, reaching straight out in front of her body. Then her head raised, eyes still closed but slowly they opened. Sabiya was not a morning person. Yet everyday she woke up, she had a routine that she stuck to diligently. It would be a bad day if that was screwed up. It was nothing much but that's all she had to keep her life on track.
She belonged no where. She had failed at Fighter and Hunter. Lacking brute force and the anger to battle an opponent and the levelheadedness to focus on prey her rank fell to Subordinate. She was just lucky enough that the pack kept her. After all there were enough wolves that she would most likely never be needed.
Enough of that self pity! she silently scolded herself. Every morning was a new day. Everything started over. So with uplifting thoughts Sabiya stepped out into a new day. The Subordinate gazed around the waking camp. She walked out of the cave's entrance. Her eyes looked for her brother, but as usual he was no where to be seen. So she settled on her haunches, unsure of what else to do.╔

Hazel green eyes popped open. They snapped back shut almost instantly, blinded by the bright light outside of the den. A small lazy paw draped back over them, shielding them from the morning sun. Adapting quickly the paw fell back down and the little eyes peered out of the cave to a new day. Up the once heavy head went. The lazy paws suddenly had energy flowing through them. Jumping up they caught balance quickly and turned up the warm bed they had just been resting on.
Arrow yawned wide and stretched. Already his tail was wagging behind him. He had slept in! Most other pups were out playing or worse, Maya could be training. If he got behind, well that could never happen! He was determined to become the Scout he knew he could be someday. There was no way he could be left as a Subordinate. Already little sounds of playful growls and laughs reached his sharp ears. With a big smile he ran out.
Again the sudden light confused his eyes, but they soon adjusted. Just in time to see Maya and Drago playing with each other. Tongue rolling out in a big smile he trotted over to them. He yipped once to get their attention, wandering what they could be up to. Having a taste for adventure and a little rule-bending himself, he could sense there was defiantly something up. "Hi! Mornin'," Arrow said brightly.

Drago growled playful when he finally got away from the older pup. His body wiggling about as he shimmied forward, getting ready to pounce. As he leaped forward he noticed the look on her face and stopped his momentum half way to her, falling back on his paws. His eyes skimmed over her, the playful gleam leaving the hazel orbs. Before he could ask her what was wrong, the she-wolf finally spoke about going out of the cave. Not knowing any better about the impending snow storm, the young male grinned in excitement at the prospect of seeing the boarders. "What are we waiting for? Let's go!" He whispered back, not really understanding why they were whispering but he'd follow Maya's lead. His little tail wagged behind him through the air.
He was about to start towards the entrance when another familiar voice stopped him. His eyes flickered over towards another young male. "Oh, hi Arrow." He said quietly, plopping down in his spot with a huff. Drago looked over the male before turning his eyes back towards Maya for guidance. He then looked over towards his mother who was distracted in conversation right now. It would be their only chance to sneak past her. Hopefully no one else would stop then either.

Magdalena was a compassionate wolf, he supposed. She was tolerable but her kindness wore on Adrian just slightly. The hunter himself wasn't a kind wolf in nature nor was he social; being pestered by Magdalena day in and day out grated on Adrian's nerves. He was a solitary creature and the way he viewed it, Magdalena only served to slow him down. Because of her rank Adrian tolerated her, or rather, he tried to tolerate her. Trying his best to sound grateful Adrian said, "Well, I offer you my gratitude." The hunter dipped his head to the delta female in a sign of respect even though he was still feeling quite irritated. His gaze drifted from Magdalena's form to his sister's as if waiting for Avina to come swoop in and save Adrian from the painful task of having to socialize. It seemed that Avina was off doing her own thing though; she was hardly paying attention to her brother. Trying to find the words to appease Magdalene was like trying to find a deer in a blizzard. Adrian could feel his heart rate pick up as his anxiety increased. Just as he was about to say something, a low howl pierced the air and for a moment, Adrian's attention was diverted. Head whipping away from the delta female, the hunter's ears perked up at the sound. He knew the howl and who it belonged too as well as the implications imbedded in the voice. Relieved and maybe the tinniest bit apologetic, Adrian stood and dipped his head again towards Magdalena. "I need to go but thank you again for waking me." The abrupt words were slightly cut off as Adrian took off at a fast pace towards his sister. The urge to run was strong for Adrian; it was like a fire that burned inside his body. The thrill he got from hunting came from the speed that it required. Slowing down from his run took careful concentration as he neared his sister. With a low bark he tried to get the fae's attention before turning to find the source of the noise. Wether or not Avina was needed was inconsequential; Avina often accompanied hunts.
It took a few moments to locate the source of the noise; Ahkita wasn't a hard wolf to miss. Adrian had spent many a day with the lead hunter and thus, the sound of Ahkita's howl was unmistakable. Adrian approached the wolf with a quick pace; there was no use in being slow after all. "You called?" He said, eyeing the lead hunter critically. Adrian was well aware of Ahkita's rank but his words were quite honest when speaking to the lead hunter. While hunting, communication was key; it was almost as important as the hunt itself. Adrian hoped that Ahkita was planning on leading a hunt. Even though Adrian didn't really like to be around other wolves, he did enjoy hunting. The urge to hunt was like a craving in his body.
♕...A V I N A..............→ tagged- ahkita........→ location- cave........→ feeling- energetic, excited........→ crush- ahkita▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃When Adrian barked, Avina's head turned. She had heard the howl only moments before but Avina was not nearly as attentive as her brother was. Ahkita's howl was not familiar to her but when Adrian barked, Avina's body whipped around and followed obediently. Her legs moved more slowly than Adrian's were; the sense of urgency that her brother seemed to feel was nonexistent for Avina. At a leisurely pace, Avina arrived at Adrian's side, her bright eyes scanning the wolf in front of her brother. It took a few moments for her to recognize him but when she did a sense of panic and nervous energy filled her. Ahkita was the lead hunter; Avina was rather familiar with him though she didn't really talk that much with the male. The contact she had with Ahkita consisted of a few hastily asked questions and mumbled replies during their few encounters. Avina always tried not to embarrass her brother by talking to his superior during hunts but it was always a tempting thought. The female's eyes drifted downwards, shuffling a little closer to her brother as if he was the stability she needed.
Staring at the ground was quite boring really but it was better than staring at Ahkita. Did it ever occur to Avina that perhaps she had a bit of an infatuation with the lead hunter? Not really. Avina always pressed such thoughts into the far back of her brain for more reasons that one. Most of the time, the female tried just to concentrate on her role in the pack rather than the pack members themselves. Being a fighter meant one didn't have much to do unless there was a crisis. Adrian always dragged Avina on his hunting expenditures because he liked to keep the female close. Avina had never told her brother how uncomfortable she was around Ahkita. The jittery nervousness that she experienced was so unlike her that it scared the young fae. Instead of talking, Avina remained silent as Adrian spoke.

Akhita saw Adrian, and Avina coming in the distance. She was silent through the whole time, it seemed odd for Akhita that the female wasn't speaking. Akhita lashed his tail around and then it went still while listening to Adrian. "Yes, I did call Adrian." the large brute spoke and glanced at Avina. She was rather pretty, beautiful actually. He smirked while he looked at her. Then he looked at Adrian. "Yes, as I was saying. We must go on a hunt, to get food for the pack." he said with a nod. "I will be coming with you, and Avina will be accompanying us." Akhita spoke in a fairly strict tone. But not to strict to the point that he seemed harsh and hostile. Akhita glanced around and he took a few steps back and looked in he direction of the hunting grounds that weren't to far. "I'm ready for the hunt, if you are." Akhita said and stretched his body out. Moving his legs since they had to get moving soon. If they were to hunt they should go soon. As they should. Akhita had to move his legs around and stretch like he did due to him being the lead hunter. He led every hunt he was in. Unless he was busy and sent the others to hunt. Akhita took charge of every hunt. He was smart when it came to hunting, and also very strong. As he usually had the hunters chase the prey to where he would hide, and he would ambush the prey and help the hunters bring it down. Hunting took a team, at least to bring down a elk or deer. One blow from one could kill a wolf. So numbers counted when hunting.

The pup stopped his light bouncy trot. A grin split his muzzle. His eyes lowered to the now sitting Drago and they bounced back up to Maya. "Hey Drago! And Maya!" Arrow again greeted the pair. The male's tail was still waving back and forth. Though having only woke up minutes ago, all sleepiness was erased from his voice and body. He was wide awake and ready to play or train, whatever came first. There was not a moment when he would hold still. Energy built up from a good night's sleep was flowing in his blood, his heart's steady beat sending it to every fiber in his body. It lit up in his eyes and left in the never ending motion of his tail.
"So what are you up to?" Arrow questioned the younger pup, dropping his voice to a whisper. Also lowering the head he looked at the pup, a gleam in his eyes. He had noticed Drago's look to his mother, reading the meaning of the look and gesture. The Trainee prided himself on his nose for trouble. Some days he was positive it was his middle name. Of course it came with the sense for adventure. It was a big world out there. There was much to see and learn and Arrow wasn't going to sit by and let it come to him. He would with gladness meet it head on, consequences to be met and considered later.

Something had changed. The atmosphere above was gaining pressure, the air feeling slightly heavier. Something was moving in. It could be as small as a cold or warm front or as big as a premature blizzard. Then again, it could be nothing at all. It may be just a false alarm, a thing of imagination. Is that what was wanted? The mind could be easily tricked into seeing or feeling what it wanted. Maybe it was all just a reason to head back, with the small prey the hunter had taken.
Zephyr could feel it, though. His black feet shuffled next to the small hare's limp body. Standing in the forest, not far from the cave, the hunter sensed something was up. He couldn't place a paw on exactly what though. It couldn't be his imagination. Why would he want to return. The forest was so peaceful. The cave was full with all other members of the pack. It would be loud with pups playing and others socializing. The black wolf had nothing against others, just against talking. Company could be nice at times. He thought back to his sister. She stuck beside him no matter what. She was the reason he was here today, without her, he was nothing.
Picking up the brown silver hare, Zephyr headed back. Paws making silent thuds on the forest floor. As he reached the cave, he dropped the rabbit. His eyes scanned fellow pack members, looking for a mouse grey female. They didn't see her in the shadows but rested upon a small gathering. It consisted of Avina, Adrian and Akhita. The latter two were fellow hunters, Akhita the Lead. He always lead the hunts or sent out the hunting patrol. Curious, Zephyr trotted over. He walked slowly to the small group. With luck they would be going back out. Nothing could bring excitement to him like the thrill of a hunt. So happily he came over. "What goes on?" He asked in a deep and quiet voice. Zephyr always chose words carefully, never wanting to waste them on trivial matters.

I chase the rabbit back and forth as it zigzags around, trying to get away from my snapping jaws. Suddenly, I step in a little make shift burrow in the ground and my jaws slam closed as I crash forward. With a huff of annoyance, I scramble up but it was too late and I see the gray tail of the rabbit duck in a bush. I stomp my foot in anger, but when I feel the slight twinge of pain I let out a whine. Darn, I twisted my wrist. With a sheepish smile, I limp back to the three rabbits I had caught earlier.
With a grin, I snatch them up and shake my fur getting all the debris off. The rabbits went crazy in my mouth as I shook but it just made me grin from the silly way they moved. I headed back to camp with my mouth full of rabbits to see if the twins were okay. I hadn't met anyone else out so they were probably all out hunting or in the camp somwwhere. I really wanted to go on a hunt with the group or at least another hunter so I could gain new skills in this area.

White Fang
The simplicity of being forgotten and unknown....
I am~ ”Watching and waiting.”
Current emotion~ ”Apathetic.”
Rank ~ ”Loner.”
Mate~ ”I don’t have a mate.”
Tagged~ Aspen, Niko
Gentle, prickling sensations prodded on the padding underneath the wolf’s paws as he walked along the soft low grass. It was something the loner wasn’t use to as he had grown accustomed to the rocky and rough terrain on no man’s land. Shaking his head White Fang halted for a moment and took in the surrounding scents, the brute was in pack territory now so he had to be more careful. The fact that he was searching for a pup didn’t ease his mind, time wasn’t exactly on his side. The howl he heard not too long ago was enough indication of that, a howl that signaled a call of gathering for a hunt. Allowing the scents to register in his mind White Fang quickly picked up on True’s scent and followed it. He kept his body low to the ground and stood to the shadows the trees around him provided. His hackles were raised in caution and muscles were tense in preparation for any attack, the loner was a force to be reckoned with. Walking his usual meticulous stride White Fang narrowed his hazel eyes when he spotted something in the distance. Lifting his snout towards the sky the canis lupus inhaled and the musky scent of wolves entered his nostrils, female loner, male pack wolf, and Shattered Truth. Chest rumbling the brute’s body shook when a growl raddled his throat but he didn’t react, instead he moved alongside the shadows and moved to the opposite side of the wind, making sure his scent couldn’t be detected.
Finding a good spot a few paces away White Fang crouched low to the ground and swiveled his ears in the direction towards the wolves, hollow eyes dead set on them as he assessed the situation. Both adult wolves were in hostile stances but the male appeared to be lowering himself more, as if he was unsure of himself whereas the female stood her ground and held her stance. The female loner wasn’t one to be messed with and he understood why. The tundra pup or otherwise known as True was hiding underneath the she wolf with ears pricked in curiosity. White Fang sighed, somewhat at ease that the pup seeked out some protection. Muscles coiling the brute stood in place as he simply watched to see where the situation goes, if it turned towards violence he will step in and protect his family. The female loner counting in it for the moment as she was the one protecting True for him. Shattered Truth
Why not step into the fire if you can't see it?
I am~ ”Encountering new wolves.”
Current emotion~ ”Mostly curious.”
Rank~”Loner.”
Mate~ ”I’m too young.”

Hearing a growl emit from the she wolf above her, True suddenly began to realize the danger of this crucial situation. Things could easily go from bad to worse in no time and the pup didn’t want anyone to get hurt. Letting her bristled fur lay back against her body the small pup pricked her ears up and took a curious step forward. She was still well underneath the female loner but instead of behind her front legs she was now between them and underneath the female’s rumbling chest, although she couldn’t exactly reach up to it. Setting her sightless eyes towards the pack wolf’s direction Shattered Truth’s head cocked to the side in natural curiosity. Feeling the sense to ease these two hostile wolves True let out a small yip before talking in her melodic soft voice. ”Hello.” The pup greeted and wagged her tail rapidly. It was clear the pup wanted to avoid violence and she was hoping the adults wanted to the same as well. Sniffing the air once again True’s body almost shook excitedly when her heightened senses picked up on an all too familiar scent, White Fang’s to be precise. It was far too faint for any other wolf to sense but it was no match for the pup’s. It may had been faint but True knew her brother was close by, watching and waiting. Although she was particularly surprised as White Fang never crossed borders, ever. Shaking it off True suddenly felt a feeling a wave of security wash over her and walked out from underneath the she wolf and closer to the pack wolf, she knew she was safe with the female loner and with her own brother not too far away.
Tail wagging slowly True stopped a short distance away from the male and dipped her head in a sign of respect before lifting it up once again. Her high energy was bouncing around inside of her, wanting her to just bound up to the male wolf and greet him in a more pup like matter but True was taught to be more cautious of pack wolves yet respect them at the same time. It didn’t make sense to her but she was taking the most of her lessons to good use at the moment.

Maya gave Drago a hardy grin, and she soon pawed his face. He never failed to let her down! Adventure awaited them. What would they come across? What would they see? What would they-suddenly her train of thoughts was interrupted by a certain brown wolf Maya knew all too well. Though being children, sometimes Maya had the cruelty of a child. She rolled her eyes at him "Shut up, do you want to put us in the spotlight?!" she whispered angrily at Arrow, her own personally considered rival for attention as a trainee. Thankfully with his next words his voice lowered. What a nosy snoop. Though if she had been in the same situation she would be nosy and wanting to know what was happening too.
She quickly calmed down though and bumped Arrow's shoulder playfully before she now pawed his face repeatedly as a childish attempt of poking. Looking once over at Drago, Maya shrugged. The more the merrier they say. "We're going to our territory's borders. You get a free pass to come with us or to stay here and keep your trap shut." She spoke with excited eyes, already knowing Arrow's answer in advance. He was just as adventurous as she was and Maya saw him as a very good friend. The big problem was Maya easily got distracted. So sometimes when she's with more than one friend she forgets to give the other one as much attention, which was what was happening as Maya now went from pawing Arrow to nipping at his feet with a mischievous look, wanting to play with him and forgetting momentarily about Drago.
But focus, she had to focus! Maya shook her head and looked at both of them. She signaled with her tail to indicate they were going on the move. Now uncharacteristically quiet, Maya stalked out of the den using that hunter's crouch Adrian had taught her, being careful and mindful of the wolves near the edge of the caves, not looking to see if either of the two were following her.

Arrow looked up to his friend, Maya. With a smirk and a blatant look he asked in a hushed whisper, "'Did you really just ask that question?" He knew that they knew his answer but he gave it to them anyway. "Yes, of course!" There would be no other reason for him to come intruding in on their playing. Yet Arrow never felt ashamed for doing so, his pride was too high.
When Maya pawed at him, he bowed his back, hindquarters high in the air, returning her teasing look. Arrow's pink tongue stuck out between his teeth as he grinned at her. There was always time to play. His paws struck out back, aiming to pin Maya's paw. It would trip her up a bit. But all too soon she shook her head. The trainee stood back up, head cocked to the right as she got suddenly serious. As always he followed her distractedness. The borders couldn't wait. The time was now, everyone was distracted.
Watching Maya show off her new skills, Arrow tried his best to copy her pose. Scouts didn't need to slink around as much as a hunter ambushing prey. He dropped his shoulder and playfully nudged Drago. Flicking his head he motioned for the pup to come quickly. Mimicking the best he could Arrow inched forward. He kept the adults movements in his peripherals, making sure they wouldn't get busted. He would have Maya's back and Drago would have his. Arrow looked back once and then trained his sights ahead. Almost out of sight, he shivered slightly with excitement. This was going to be so much fun!
